Octopussy
Die another day
The people who talk about Bond in a clown suit don't seem to mention the opening sequence involving 009.
The bit with the clown suit is one of the tensest scenes of the series.
I really like it too and now can't help but think Moore should have ended his run with that. It would have been a more fitting end than seeing him in the shower with Stacey (even if the "in out" stuff and his cast leg going up as he kisses OP isn't exactly subtle).
Maybe I'm being a little hard on it but I just find it a bit...boring above all. It's too "laid back" for my liking - and Charles Grey was more suited as Henderson.
It is rather laid back, I will give you that, because the action is quite scarce, and what we do get is pretty limited, especially the finale, which is really disappointing for such a build-up.
That's another reason I don't like it much. Other than the lift fight and (perhaps) the final fight with Wint and Kidd most of the action is ho-hum at best.
I will say though that I think Connery's performance is a little better than it was in Twice (although I don't think that was as bad as some make out).
Moore should've definetly gone out in a high with OP. Give AVTAK to Dalton, I would've loved to see him come up against Walkens villian.
However, with that being said, you know what really bothers me about that scene? Its the short amount of time in which he gets dressed up as a clown. I haven't seen the movie recently but I believe, according to the timer on the bomb, that in about 30 seconds flat he exits the trailer in perfect disguise. Big funny shoes, red ball over his nose and face painted perfectly. Not a smudge on the makeup job mind you. He even had time to paint that little tear drop. All in 30 seconds or so. Perhaps I'm wrong on the exact amount of time, please correct me if I am, but its close to that. I mean come on now.

I am rewatching them all on blu-ray though so it might change, although I kind of doubt it.
I'd appreciate it, if you could, after a viewing, place it a more favorable position. I mean, it's nowhere near as bad as that, and in my top five of all things
I just don't like to see that Moore release get bad reviews that's all
@-)
I acknowledge Quantum of Soalce is a real Bond film. It's serious, exciting in places, has a great Bond, real Fleming qualities etc, but I simply didn't enjoy it
Poor villains, absurd plot, nauseating action that makes you dizzy, a scandalous rip off of the Shirley Eaton scene from Goldfinger, boring and mundane sequences, it's no surprise I hold it in such little regard, but once again, Craig all on his own, almost keeps the film's head above water, but the bottom line is, it's simply a release I didn't enjoy
Moonraker on the other hand, Yes, it's silly, Moore plays the fool half the time, but what a damn fine Bond release. Best background scores, outstanding pre credits sequence, a superlative performance from Lonsdale, I never get bored when watching, lots of exciting action sequences, only spoilt by the nonsense idea of putting James Bond into outer space. Other than that, it's a truly enjoyable few hours spent

My dear @Baltimore_007, again, I was only joking! :P
Well, it's next on my list, so I'll let you know how it goes. ;)
Great PTS, the auction is tremendous fun, OK the India scenes are mediocre (although backgammon scene is classic Bond and could easily have come from Fleming) but the moment we hit Germany its one of the best 40 minutes in Bond with easily the best countdown sequence which is made only more tense by the inclusion of the clown disguise which is a stroke of genius (even if, as some have said, its a little too perfect in the time Bond had to put it on). The moment where Bond is trying to convince the general about the bomb is possibly Rogs finest moment.
Unbelievable how many people are too blinkered to just see 'Bond in a clown suit' and fail to understand that its Bond disguised as a clown not being made into one. Theres a subtle difference. For the latter I suggest you watch DAD.
And as for someone having TLD down there? Forget the hackneyed old cliche of 'everyones entitled to their opinions' crap. If you seriously think TLD belongs bottom 3 you have no concept of the character of James Bond at all.
TLD at the bottom is just disgraceful.
