    Haven't read it all just yet -- but a few days ago I bought Titan Books' Complete James Bond Classic Comic Strip Collection 1958-1960. Wow, what a beauty! Adaptations of the first six novels, Casino Royale - Dr. No. Hardcover, three strips to a page, so there's plenty of room to let the detailed artwork shine through in gorgeous B&W reproduction...I'll be savoring this for awhile!

    Shame it's not in color, though. Too much black & white and my eyes start losing color. Otherwise, it sounds like a great thing to get.

    The Ellis/Masters run received mixed reviews from fans overall... But, there's a new one in the open called Hammerhead. Two issues out and it's more in demand than the other effort. And the art makes you crave for more.

    Read all Earth One novels immediately upon publication. Love them all!
    Superman Earth One is a book many should read. It will help them get over some of their quarrels with Man Of Steel.

    Hammerhead is great stuff. It works for me as a Bond comics in ways that Vargr and Eidolon never did. @Beatles gives this comic book three voices raised in harmony (out of a possible 4 -- JPG & R, scale of course.)

    Another Carl Barks collection is out, this one covering the period 1953-1955. Outstanding stuff, and several ten-pagers I haven t seen before. Consider me a Barksist.

    @ClarkDevlin, I quite liked it, but then again I like the resurrection of The Shadow in comics, it was a story with a few nice twists.

    BEFORE WATCHMEN: MINUTEMEN/SILK SPECTRE

    I wasn t sure if this was necessary.But it sure was. Especially Minutemen is outstanding. Darwyn Cooke delivers a great story and terrific artwork.

    Now I am looking forwatd to the rest if I can get hold of them, particularly The Comedian and Rorschach.

    I'm glad you enjoyed them. I've had these prequel comics for years, but never read them due to a certain shall we say fear of being gravely disappointed.

    Twilight Zone: The Shadow
    This bizare 4 issue mini series see The Shadow have his on Quantum Leap like situation. 3 near death experiences has The Shadow awake to find himself in the body of Lamont Cranston (with The Shadow a separate entity), a radio actor playing The Shadow called Preston Springs (clearly intended to be Orson Wells), and a certain Maxwell Grant.

    LANTERN CITY

    Holding the promise of a great steampunk epic, this comic book impresses visually but underwhelms narratively. The story involves a labour forces insurrection against the rich and exploitative rulers of a Metropolis kind of retro-futuristic city. Nothing new. Fortunately, we're following a rather interesting protagonist, thus ensuring some level of excitement into at least the 8th issue of this 12 issue book. But the closer we get to the climax, the less inspired the writers seem to have become. With an ending that could have been taken from yesterday's episode of any fantasy television series, LANTERN CITY lacks a vital element to be called a must-read. Though smitten by the artwork and charmed by Bruce - Tron - Boxleitner's involvement, I am reluctant to recommend the book as I find the story a little bit too simple. I had a good time with LANTERN CITY (until the final two or so issues) but I can't guarantee you will. It'll depend on where your priorities lie.
