Put this in the 'whoops' or 'lazy' category, depending on your level of cynicism.

A marketing firm working for Bollinger on their 007 themed campaign to tie-in the 50th anniversary of James Bond as well as the upcoming film "Skyfall", used art from a fan created poster in their imagery for a Facebook promotion.

Seen below is the fan art poster created by Marcos Kontze and uploaded to Flickr on 9th November 2011.

Below is a snippet of the Facebook campaign created by Facundo Pretini, art director & digital, for Bollinger. This was uploaded to their portfolio on Shownd.com, but has recently been removed.

I recently talked with the "so called" spanish Designer responsible for the Bollinger image. He apologized for using the image and even said he has no kind of relations with Bollinger, nor the campaign of this year's Skyfall edition. According to him: "It was just a design test".

Ok, I "believe". Too bad, because I think I could at least get a Bollinger bottle for the first time.

Yes!!! Marcos's work is easily good enough to be used in promotional campaigns. If you're gonna use fan art, you might as well use the best.

Wow, an honor. Protect that smoking gun poster as well, or they'll take it too!

Wow, that was a huge mistake. How could they do that?

Still, it proves your fan art is amazing, @marketto007.

Indeed, it's the least they can do! Come on, it's not like it's big money for them, and they could even make it a marketing ploy whilst giving Marketto the days of his life! Bollinger, do something, or I'll never buy your champagne again!

Thanks everybody, but I've already spoke with the designer who used the image, and as I said before, he apologized for using the image and even said he has no kind of relations with Bollinger.

I also spoke with Bollinger, and they confirmed there's no kind of publicity relations with the Spanish designer, and/or the leaked image. Although confirmed a Skyfall themed bottle for this year.

So, no Bottle for me, no Premiere for me. :(

Concordo contigo @Sandy, que "quem não chora não mama", but in this case, if the final advert won't feature my Fan Art, there's nothing I can do, unfortunatelly.

Unfortunately you're right @marketto. Wouldn't it be great if you or anybody else here had the opportunity to be in the center of the action at the premiere? You're fan art it just amazing, so people just go the easy path and copy it. Try to protect your designs as well as you can, at least get a creative commons account if you don't have one.
