This is indeed what bugs many, even those, who love thee scene, but I feel, its making it a bit easy to put it down to those 2 words. Take them out and what do you get? What I said IMO...and I am in save waters here as this scene did get a lot of applause after CR, was selecetd as a fine piece of entertainment. And rightly so...
Please. That scene is a great scene. Not the greatest line, but great scene. Like the Germanlady said " a fine piece of entertainnment". It is a classic scene. I would choose that scene to any of Moore's scenes .It shows that Craig can be charming like Bond
The whole content of CR is the lowest point the series ever reached.
But the last half hour, OMG that´s bad.
And this is coming from someone who considers DAD a great film. :))
"Vesper huh...wow...now there's a mouthful"
"You can have me here. You can have me anywhere"
"Yes but I'm still not quite sure how good you are"
"I'm sooo good"
"Especially when you're baad"
Im starting to think that you have no taste at all. That scene is a great scene and also is Casino Royale . To call it a low point in the franchise is just pure nonsense,IMO, I think the lowest point in the franchise is probably when the Moore films started to become more of a parody then a real bond film. Moore was still a great Bond. A true low-point. Just my opinion.
I see you have the greatest tastes of all, and we must all agree with you.
Moore´s movies are the real Bond films, CR is Bond trying to appeal to a bigger audience by ignoring about everything what defines the Bond movies and trying to be modern and gritty.
@Moore - still think, you are cute though ;)
I think that the Madagascar chase is good. And some other things. But to me it´s not a Bond film.
agree. except for the cute part
You should have said that earlier in a more clear way. But I still think that it is a very good BOND film
And MR wasn't trying to appeal to the bigger audiences by copying Star Wars? Ever since the Bond films began they have copied other contemporary movies
Yes, but they didn´t ignore the Bond tradition. There were gadgets, Q and Moore who plays Bond as he really should be.
Yes, indeed it has. A can give it a few ounces of credit for that.
I must confess after watching CR for the first time I didn't really know what to think. I enjoyed it but wasn't sure what my exact opinion was. Part of me still missed PB. It was only after seeing a few more times that I enjoyed it more and more. Since buying the dvd in 2007 I have seen it many times.
That is precisely why it's not a Bond film for me. No Q, no gadgets, no Moneypenny, no Bond theme, no gun barrel at the start.....
It has actual elegance though rather than cheesiness (and I say that as a lover of GE)
And btw it DOES have a gunbarrel at the start. Just in a different format.
Maybe CR is elegant, and it is in the casino scenes, but there is the Bondness that is missing.
@actonsteve Yeah, the only ones ITV have shown on thier main channel lately have been Daltons.
@Germanlady DC had an advantage though. Back when Dalton became Bond, people WANTED the light hearted Moore stuff, they didn't want a dark and serious film.
But now, after the success of films like Bourne, it was kind of clear that people enjoyed the dark, realistic films more than they enjoyed the camp, funny, gadget packed films. Which is why CR did so well.
I saw LTK and didn't like the tone nor Dalton.
I saw CR and felt a bit irritated coming off Moore and Brosnan, but DC won me over. It didn't take me long to discover just how Bondian it still was, even though some items were missing.
