For some of us it felt ludicrous back then too but yes the current incumbent of the role will always feature highly.
Craig's legacy need not so much be judged by how close he comes to Connery but whether he is 'up there' with Connery AND Moore or looked as one of the others like Dalton and yes even Craig.
Dalton was such a breathe of fresh air in TLD and felt real and yet Craig came along in CR and brought another depth to the character even still. I still can't decide on whom I prefer but I was relieved to get Craig after Brosnan and get us back to what we lost after LTK.
=D>
Like hard core Craig fans say he( Daniel) looks more cinematic , more appropriate for the big screen and more threatening and bad ass than Dalton but Timothy Dalton has more balance in his portrayal.
He can be charming when it's needed and Though when the times call for and his looks are more fitted for the classic bond : Lean dark hair and classicaly handsome.
As I said, though, I enjoyed Dalton as Bond more simply because he at least retained some of the classic elements from Connery and Moore. Apparently that'll be the case in Spectre as well.
Daniel Dalton
and Timothy Craig B-)
I don't agree at all.
For me, the best acting job in a Bond film is Timothy Dalton in Licence to Kill. Followed by Diana Rigg in OHMSS and Eva Green in Casino Royale.
Robert Shaw is the best acting job in any Bond film. That's a fact!! ;)
I'm mixed on Dalton in LTK. His best moment is outside Felix's house, but I just feel he's too over-dramatic at other times.
I agree but thanks to forum members here I do have a greater appreciation for Dalton.
I wish Dalton had had better material and a better director to work with. But reading Vargr it's hard not to image a 40ish Dalton in the role.
The rejudging the reactions of both Dalton and Craig is certain scenes kinda puts me at a draw. Craig certainly has had far better material and direction than Dalton ever dreamed of so that puts Dalton at a serious disadvantage.
But Craig should have never cried at M's death that was much too sentimental and tidy. I even thought that then.
Likewise Dalton"s reactions in some scenes like the bar fight in LTK was just wrong. Should have been stone cold.
So now im mixed ...enjoy both but prefer Craig's films way more ...well 3 out of four og them :P
Crying over M is not at all appropriate. For Leiter though it definitely is.
Thank you.
I dont see that out of place that he cried for M's death since this M was more like a mother to him amd they had a growing relationship.
From hating each other in Goldeneye to completley beliving in him and finally telling Bond he was one of his best agents.
now if we go by the theory that Goldenye's M is a different character, i still have a point
In casino Royale she first tells him i knew it was too early to promote you and latter in Goldeneye supports him and gives him back his 00 status even though he didnt past the test.
Aren't all except connery polarizing ??
Connery is the only one i haven't heard any dislike for him meanwhile all the other 5 have their fare share of fans and haters. Especially: Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig since they are known by a bigger number of people.
Only Bond fans know and Love Dalton and Lazenby.
Actually you know if someone is a real Bond fan if thry know these two. Otherwise they only know the franchise by surface
Bond cried more than once in the books. What s the deal? Crying is human.
Anyway, what a wuss.
