If you want horrendous dialogue watch the J.W. Pepper scenes from LALD and TMWTGG. They both really seem like something out of Looney Tunes, not James Bond.
It's really pointless trying to criticise JW in front of DC @DoubleOhhSeven. He considers JW the best character in the franchise other than Bond.
Your right @Bain. Im wasting energy.
Moreover Im happy Craig has overtaken Dalton in the polls. I rewatched TLD last night and tried for the life of me to figure out why I always preferred Craig as the "serious Bond". I think I've finally figured it out. Dalton simply isn't that cool. Connery, Moore, and Craig seem to effortlessly glide through their performances as if it's their world and everyone else is just living in it.
Yes Dalton could be very intense but often intense in the wrong places, whereas Craig was able to seperate the two. Craig could be cool and classy (train scene, casino scenes) and at the same time switch over and become a killer. The only other actor who could do this was Connery. That's why Connery and Craig are IMO the 2 best Bonds.
And when I say "cool" I don't mean cool in the public's eye. I mean cool as in James Bond's Devil May Care attitude.
I've said this before but I think he just comes off as a bit "stagey". That's the reaction I had when I re-watched a bit of TLD the other week. Also, its how they conduct themselves on camera. Connery, Moore, Craig and yes even Brosnan (in fact especially Brosnan) glide through the scenes - almost cat like.
I'm going to defend Brosnan here, look how he walks between 04.08 and 04.19. Cool and confident. That's a scene where I can point and say "he's James Bond".
I'm not sure whether Dalton could have pulled that off but who knows
Respectfully I didn't mention Brosnan because IMO Brosnan like Dalton at times simply tried too hard. If I met Connery, Moore, or Criag I'd think they were the coolest guys on the planet. If I met Brosnan I'd think this clown's putting on an act. There's a whole list of things he does in his films that always annoy me and stike me as playing up to the public's shallow interpretation of what James Bond should be. Maybe that's why casual fans like him so much but hardcore fans for the most part don't care for him.
If I met Brosnan I'd go weak at the knees like I did when I was about to shake hands with Roger Moore but anyway back on topic ;)
Lol you're right. Wrong thread for that. Back to the subject, I think Dalton's messy appearance in LTK did him no favors either. And this coming from someone who loved LTK. Both LTK and QOS are very similar in that they have Bond on his own (atleast for alittle while in QOS) and having a personal stake in the mission. But atleast Craig still looks dashing in QOS. I think thet might have taken the whole broody theme with LTK a bit too far in that Bond could be angry but that doesn't mean his style should suffer.
Why.... WHHYYYYY?????
Don't feel too bad @Thelivingroyale. It's been a close race all the way through.
Agents actually need to run fast for at least 15 or 30 minutes. (based on MY perception, lol. Maybe even more than 15, if i'm wrong.)
An agent doesn´t have to be able to run. Infact, an agent can be 60 years old. All he (or she) needs it the equipment Q-branch supplies to their agents. To quote Moore again, "Why walk when you can ride". They can use their Little Nellies, Q-Cars, Q-boats or Q-bikes (with a jet motor).
An agent should have knowledge about the equipment, and of course knowledge in deparments like fishes, wines, food etc.
But I like DC's oevre far better.
No one knows when an agent will need to run after the bandit, right? ;)
Take Little Nellie and follow the bandit. Craig is torturing himself by running after Mitchell instead of calling Q and telling him to bring Little Nellie, or use the Q-car instead. Or steal a cab, like Moore did in AVTAK. Moore is the god of Bond.
This. Except I don't think craig, or anyone else, will ever overtake Dalton in my ranking. He always has been and always will be my favourite bond.
LTK for me also, my favourite film of all time. I love TLD too but LTK is just amazing. Dalton is really badass and I like the idea of bond going rogue and looking for revenge. Plus, there are gadgets, one liners, Q, moneypenny, all the bond elements, but it is also dark and realistic.
Dalton was uncomfortable in the role.
I've read comparisons to the two actors-- that both play(ed) 007 as the regretful serviceman to Her Majesty's Secret Service.
I did feel this in Dalton.
But I feel Craig's Bond is always ready to prove himself; that if he comes off as surly, it's because he's pissed he couldn't do it his way. He hates to see he's fallible and his pig-headness comes from refusing to acknowledge this fallibility.
Long Live Craig as Bond...!
Gotta go with Craig over Dalton.
I would go:
Craig, Connery, Brosnan ,Dalton, Moore, Lazenby ,
