He's obviously not Canadian, he doesn't type "eh" at the end of his posts :D

What are you getting at, eh?

That's more of a guilty conversation thing. Not so much typing. I've never understood how people think we say 'aboot' instead of about, or 'ruff' instead of roof.

I know you don't really talk that way, I was just joking.

I've heard Canadians speak this way. I think it's a lot like the American accent. It changes depending upon region. Me I've got one of those "Half Southern, Half New Yorker" types of accent (funny because I'm born, raised, and always lived in Indiana).

This is true. There was a really interesting article I read about accents in Canada and the U.S. and how there is some similarity based on East/West location. There's a slight similarity to the accents from the prairie provinces in Canada and the "mid-west" accent in the U.S. There are places in Toronto where you'd swear the people talk like they're from the Bronx. But then the Maritimes have an accent that can sound either close to Irish or, more commonly, what some people think of as a "Canadian accent" (like saying aboot). I've even had friends tell me that some places on the West Coast have people that sound like they have a "Californian accent" i.e. slightly surfer-dude sounding!

lol all this talk about funny accents-
Anyone remember the Looney Tunes episode from when they were a kid-- something about a over-the-top Scottish lighthouse keeper trying to get the cat to find the mouse? He said 'That lousy moose is loose in the hooos!!' :))
Wish I could find it on Youtube....

I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually hates Bond. My sister did tell me once, a few months back, that she is done with Bond because she bored with him and doesn't see the point. I almost jumped out of my chair at her.

Or the Dexter's Laboratory episode with the bully who hates funny accents. "The rain in Spain stays mostly on the plain."

I usually find, the people who say they dont like bond and say its rubbish are people that have never actually seen the films and their opinion is based on parodies that are in other films, tv shows and spoofs.

I find that if I watch Casino Royale with some one whos never seen bond or and has no desire to see it they are pleasantly suprised.

I agree, Canadians don't say "aboot". It's more like "aboat" ;)

    Take off, eh :D

Me and my mate's were out once in town and nearly all my mates love Bond ( I kind of forced them into watching Skyfall with me :D ) and no offence to anyone here but he called it stupid and I don't know if I should type this in case it offends anyone but let's say he called it stupid , boring , pointless and crap and said Skyfall is the worst film well he's not our mate anymore so I only know one person who hates the best spy around.

My grampa has seen every Bond movie from Dr. No to Skyfall. He took my grandmother to see Thunderball, and worried for the future of his marriage.

He has not taken her to see any subsequent Bond movies, although they do remain married.

I do know people that dislike the movies, like being not interested in them, which I think is fair game. There are enough movies I am not a great fan of.

I think have a few friends that are not interested but we enjoy other movies we both like, more scifi or superhero related and their non-interest in 007 is fine with me.

I come here with the question for you guys, you know anyone that hates 007 at That point or gets close?
I had some communists in my class when I was young and USSR still existed, 007 was a symbol to hate for them. How could I read this, some asked.

My cousins wife is not a fan, although I would not so far as to say she hates it? But me and my cousin do like to wind her up about it though when given the chance! :))

My wife dislikes the earlier Bond movies but then she's one of those people who doesn't generally tolerate outmoded values and technology in "old movies" unless the story is something like "Dr. Zhivago" or "Georgy Girl". HOWEVER, she does enjoy the "modern" Craig Bond series so I have actually been able to have her come with me to the cinema for the latest 007 adventures. It's a good thing I like Craig almost as much as Connery.

My father never liked it and found that too unrealistic, except Skyfall, which he enjoyed much. My mother dislike "gun films" as much as I hate "girly teen movies". They prefer Oscarized films. So do I indeed.

At the opposite, my cousin and my godfather like 007.

Yes,. I've known many people who hated the films or didn't really "get" them or understand their appeal. There were very few Bond fans when I was at secondary school though I managed to convert a few along the way!

But I wouldn't be a very good one if I'd just blown my cover on a fan forum!

I know quite a few people who hate how much I talk about Bond (that doesn't stop me though!), but know no one who actually hates Bond. Quite a few who are disinterested, but even they get enthusiastic when a films coming out!

Now that could be a problem, though it's usually in the garden. My criminology coming through, there!
