Craig running in SF. I think it looks the same as when Brosnan runs.
Sean Connery- the "sshhhh" voice, the panther walk
    George Lazenby- fighting style
Roger Moore- Eyebrow raising, the "Aaaawhhoooaaa" yell, the accent, the sucked-in cheeks during a kiss, and the staggered run
Timothy Dalton- the glare, the vocal bitterness, the deep laugh
Pierce Brosnan- the swagg walk, one-hand-in-pocket, the lip purse and eye-narrowing, the pain face
Daniel Craig- the free running, the mumbled dialogue, fighting style
  • I must admit this whole Brosnan-running-like-a-robot bit that some of you are bent on is indeed quite funny. But I actually do concur. I never liked his running. I admit that it looks stoic. But unfortunately it doesn't look natural. It looks too rehearsed and devoid of spontaneity. If you're running from so many life and death situations as this character does, I doubt you'd run so symmetrically.

The argument of his back being straight is invalid, because that's how professionals run: it's supposed to be straight for good posture.

But, I'll admit, it does seem very scripted, I suppose? He does look too tight at times, like he is on one specific path and won't break where he will run.

He runs with a straight back, which is how athletes run. That's what she meant.

I don't think so and neither do you. Come on, royale, you can do better. ;) I think, DC has a special, if not funny way to run, which is due to his Rugby past.

So first it's "Brosnan can't act", then "Brosnan is a Moore knock off", and now it's "he can't run". Can we just give the guy a break? It's like people on here are constantly searching for new ways to bash the guy.

You are right...whether they are right or wrong - it doesn't feel good. But its the way it is.

    No.

I really like Craig but his walk does sometimes remind me a bit of the T1000. Hands to the side and a stiff back. Like when he walks from the car park to the health spa in CR and when he's at Solange's villa with M later on.
  • I also think Dalton showed that he was always thinking about his next move as well, especially in LTK.
  • Is this running thing still going on? F*cking hell I didn't think it would cause this many posts.

Thank you for getting us back on topic. And I know what you mean, when you look at his face you can tell he's thinking about his next move. He always has a plan.

Yes, that is what I meant, thelivingroyale...

but moving on: I do think Dalton and Craig do the most for showing what Bond is thinking, that he's fully present and thinking steps ahead. I don't see that in any of the other Bonds, and I appreciate it.

My apologies, I started the running thing. But hey, I'll make it undone by a snip of my magic fingers: SNIP!

There you go, we may lay the running topic to rest now.
  • Connery does this a lot.

Hahaha, yes, Connery does pull that constipated face often time! The best is when he is fighting Largo and his thugs on the Disco Volante and he tries to pull Largo away from the wheel. If you pause it at just the right time, oh man, it is priceless!

Connery also tends to only grit one side of his teeth- he does it alot, but here's one picture I found as an example:

Sir Rog’s “villain halitosis” – when the villain is talking Sir Rog, tends to lean back, as if the villain has bad breath. Thus making Bond look repulsed.

    It's true! Villain halitosis, priceless.

    So, here are my choices:

Sean Connery - walking and that little half-smile he does sometimes.
George Lazenby - the silly smile in the most outrageous situations.
Roger Moore - the eyebrow is inevitable, and that pose of him with the gun, leaning forward or to the side, like in here http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQuKa0xJsYOvGwle9z-18U8OrppQYrBBTk8LGXy23s7vOTcReq8vw, and like someone said before the sucked in cheeks when he's kissing (I never understood that).
Timothy Dalton - his anger face, the oversized clothes, the thinking look.
Pierce Brosnan - the way the grabs the wheel when he's driving (did anybody else notice this) and the exaggerated gestures he sometimes does (in GE opening the door at the yacht) are both synonymous of his Bond to me.
Daniel Craig - the walking, the small changes in facial expression that say a lot, the physicality.

Did you read his autobiography? He talked about that method he uses with the villain actors
and jokingly added that with some of the actors he 'didn't have to pretend'! LOL I wonder which actors had bad breath? :-?
  • Sean Connery: ninja way of moving/walking, panther attitude.

George Lazenby (I don't like him btw): looking inappropriate being Bond.

Roger Moore: joke attitude, funny face.

Timothy Dalton: very concerned about decisions.

Pierce Brosnan: cool, very classy guy (the way he smiles, when he cocks his head, when he straights his tie, etc.).

Daniel Craig: always in a hurry and not enough reflexive.

I was watching TWINE the other day and I noticed how Brosnan would sometimes stop and do something cool in the middle of an action scene. The tie straightening, saying Bond James Bond, etc.

Craig always has a good last line at the end.

I guess because she is positive on Craig she's allowed to endlessly spam the board with "I love Craig" posts. But anyone who post even one negative comment on Craig is considered a ***** moron. Well what the hell are the mods doing ? Why don't they add the new rule where negative comments on Craig are not allowed ?

EDITED. Why are you guys so upset when someone is negative on Craig ? Will the world end if one member on the entire forum doesn't like Craig as Bond ?

Heavilly edited for content and swearing

Come back DC, we miss you :(

Can’t say I miss DC007 that much, as the poster is one of the biggest s—t stirrer on the forum. Much history has been erased due to the site upgrade, but along with others there were times when the bashing of Arnold, Dench, Craig, Haggis, et al, hounding of some posters and rants pertaining to who was considered a true/real Bond fan led to some posters being ostracised and I left the site for several months. DC007 has mellowed somewhat recently, but this does not negate some of the rather elitist scorn meted out and the occasional dig dressed up as righteous indignation aimed at those who don’t have the same POV.
  • Dalton's Bond had a major temper. He got annoyed very easily and seemed to enjoy conflict. Like in TLD with his line 'If he fires me I'll thank him for it.'

Brosnan had a way of singposting every pun with a deep intake of breath and he seemed to relish it. I really enjoy that, it shows how much fun he had playing Bond.

Craig has a bullish and reckless behaviour that is very much in keeping with his take on Bond. For example, bursting through a wall in Casino Royale. In Skyfall he drove his motorbike into a bridge wall to get on top of the train. That stunt was very much in keeping with Craigs take on the character.
  • I'm a big Craig fan and always find that his Bond says the most essentially when he says nothing at all. It's in the quiet moments Craig excels, however is it just me or do his line deliveries occasionally come across a little flat? I think its probably because of his accent that anything else.

(Edit: I previously gave this it's own thread because I really don't see how it fits in here, but some trigger-happy-thread-closing-mods got the better of me)

It's best not to trash talk the mods. They had a reason to close the thread, just as I had a reason to post this link in yours.

I did this because that's what it is: a trademark. You're stating that you feel Craig says the most when he says nothing at all. You've now posted your thoughts here, and perhaps others will agree with you.

It's just that we don't need a brand new thread for every single tiny thing we want to discuss. This can most certainly do well right here without a totally separate topic for it.

Brosnan has a stern facial expression that he does on several occasions during his movies. I liked those

It's not just you because other people here have said the same thing, or have said that he's monotone. To be honest, I just don't see that (or hear it). One of the things I love about Craig's performance is the way he gives subtle changes to inflection in his lines to make them more interesting or to change the meaning a little. Monotone is the last thing that I'd call him.

Love whoever brought up Pierce's pain face. I love Pierce but that is true and hilarious. He also loved to run but I think that's just a Bond trademark in general, he's always running somewhere.

Roger of course had the eyebrows, which I wish I could do.

Sean liked to punch people, that was kind of his thing along with what I call his "seduction face". I guess the martini was also supposed to be his trademark but that's just a general Bond thing now too.

Craig runs like a spaz, which is my favorite trademark. :p But in all seriousness I think he has one of the best serious/badass farcical expressions ever.

Sorry if I repeated some things, and hopefully I can think of some more for the others.

Lazenby is the one who has very flat line deliveries at times. While Craig can be a bit flat on occasions (the "I do hope so" line in QoS never worked for me) on the whole I'd say...understated is a better word.

A good example is the line from QoS:

"You don't have to worry about me...I'm not going to go chasing him...he's not important...and neither was she!"

He snaps his lines quietly - but angrily. There's feeling. You can really hear the disdain in his voice.

A couple of things about Roger's "Bond":

    1. He often moves his hands behind his back, as if being handcuffed and,
    2. He often calls women "darling" (something he actually does off screen as well).
