Has anybody caught up with Gotham season 2, or did they do what I have and completely forget it existed? I'm searching for a reason to revisit it on Netflix, but haven't found any yet, sans the great Bruce Wayne actor they cast, who doesn't make up enough of the show for me to tune in every episode. They've just made so many bad story mistakes it's hard to keep watching it unfold.
  • Season 4 of Arrow I agree lost the Edge the show had, season 5 seems to be addressing it.

I have not watched Gotham other than a handful of early episodes, there are so many great shows out there on my watchlist Gotham has not got a look in, though I have added it on Netflix when there is not much on I will attempt to binge watch.

I refuse to watch any more of Gotham because of the poor taste the first season left in my mouth. I've heard Fish Mooney showed up again later, which means I will never watch it again. If, for whatever reason, it eventually becomes part of the Arrowverse...

I'm still not going to watch it.

The whole concept for Gotham is just wrong, completely forgot Krypton is still on its way not heard much about it recently.

The prequel to Man of Steel. There was already a prequel to Man of Steel, called Gladiator, the first movie to show Jor-El beating the sh*t out of people who should honestly be able to stop him in seconds.

Yeah, as great as Jim is, I don't want to see him in his lonesome fighting all of Batman's best villains while Bruce is experiencing puberty. I honestly am shocked it's gotten to season three, really. If it makes it to five, I'll be absolutely staggered. And the one thing that improved the show immensely-the absence of Fish-is now the thing that again makes it unwatchable.
  • I think they missed a trick with Gotham from what I know about it, they should have perhaps jumped several years forward and had a year one pre Batman bruce.

The problem with that is the best thing about the show is the young Bruce they have, and with him gone, I would have zero reason to tune in, ever.

I wish DC would do a new Batman either with the CW (so it could connect with everything else) or do something on Netflix with real stones to it. Explore a proper adult Batman and do a series where it's Jim and Batman in Gotham facing the villains with the noir style of Year One and with the approach of Gotham Central tossed in for good measure. Treat the first season as Bruce's story as he trains his body and mind, and end the series with him taking up the helm, keeping the reveal of him as Batman to the last episode so that his myth builds for the audience too. Every season after would see him growing more and more as villains rise to face him.

"Gotham" as it is now has none of that, and all the good stuff about it is reduced in comparison to the major stuff it does so, so wrong.

An interesting concept could be that Batman is a vague figure, rarely seen, and Jim's new to GCPD tasked with finding out if there's any truth to the rumors of a "bat man".

But no. What we got was a show where Batman is still years away, and his villains are damn near fully formed already. One of the best things about the Batman mythos is the ambiguity of whether or not Batman gave rise to the villains in Gotham or the villains gave rise to Batman, and this show just throws that out the window.

And Batman isn't the creator of Joker as he always should be, which is another point against the show. One of the many ways it missed the mark in every conceivable way.

    And to
kill off Essen at the beginning of season two of all things?
    Give me a break.

What is your opinion on the worthless sack of sh*t called Fish Mooney?

I was kind of indifferent to her.
The Gordon character drives the show and his interplay and conflict with his partner.
Penguin is an engaging constant, and really the lead villain, with his behind the scenes manipulations.
I do like Morena Baccarin. So it was great to see her in a featured role.
Gotham S2 I have in a holding pattern as I do want to burn through Arrow S4 first and then maybe Flash S2.

There are shows that have a plan and they adhere to that plan and arc (Babylon 5) and there are shows that just make up as they go along (Lost) I have to say that this new season of Gotham falls in the latter category.

I have no idea what the hell is going on...has it jumped or flown off the rails?

Erin Richards is too talented an actress to have so limited screen time and Jessica Lucas is too hot to have her scenes cut so drastically.

I actually like Gotham. It's just a very different take on the batman mythology and I accepted it for what it was when it first aired. This isn't and has never been about a traditional take on batman. So many people have either missed that point or simply don't like the premise at all. Fair enough. I for one am cool with it.

They're creating a world that doesn't need a Batman, one that, if it ever gets a Batman, will have villains who have already lost to Jim Gordon enough times that they won't even bother fighting Batman, they'll just give up. And this is on top of all my other problems, problems with performances, problems with casting choices, problems with dialogue.

The show was conceived with a brilliant premise, but its problem is its poor execution, something that's plagued it from the very start. I had similar problems with Smallville to begin with, but that grew up in a way Gotham doesn't seem to want to.

I've been following comic book movies and television adaptations for years. I've never heard of this mythos, except in the 1989 movie, "BATMAN". And if I must be frank, I see no reason why "GOTHAM" or any other TV series or movie have to blindly follow such mythos.

The problem with Man Of Steele is, at first it looks like another Riddick film (sans Riddick himself) then it turns into Batman Begins and then finally you get some Avengers-like action which happens to have Supes in the middle of it.

Superman Returns is infinitely better and so is Superman, the original movie.

You're entitled to that opinion. Frankly, I do not share it. Aside from Brandon Routh's performance, I was never that impressed by "SUPERMAN RETURNS". And although I still love the 1978 movie "SUPERMAN", my feelings for it has declined a bit over the years . . . especially the movie's first half.

It does. But I have to admit that the only one of those which I watch, is The Flash (the show has gotten me into the Flash comics). I tried Supergirl, but with the gee golly-ness of the show, I stopped watching it until the Flash crossover, then stopped again after that.

I loved the first two Reeve Superman movies (1978, 1981) but the rest are just waste of time. I was excited about Superman Returns in 2006, it had its moments (the idea of Lois having his child) but for the most part it was a disappointment.

Far as I am concerned there can never be another Superman after Christopher Reeve
and no other Batman after Christian Bale

and don't get me started on the new Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter broke the mold on that character as well. :)

I'm struggling to perceive how 1989's Batman explored that idea, but I know The Dark Knight had it as one of its main and uttermost salient ideas. Not to mention the scores of comics, series and games that've come out in the modern period of storytelling that've played with the idea too.

"Gotham" doesn't need to play with that idea specifically (can't anyway, since Batman isn't a thing yet), but it could at least try its best not to be terrible.

One major major issue I have with the current superman is the color grade....

Look at the CWs flash/supergirl vs arrow.. Arrow is extremely dark and has a batman feel to it while supergirl/arrow the colors are much lighter and everything's happy. Superman and supergirl are constantly smiling and happy, while the cinematic superman has a dark colorgrade and a very depressing feel to it.

I understand the need to make everything feel more realistic but still they are really killing the vibe for me! I think DC needs to axe the solo Cyborg film and do a joker movie instead, also Idris Elba should play the green lantern. They need some really really big changes if they want the movies to be successful.

I really want some outer space scenes for green lantern and justice league, if you look at the latest Star Wars and space movies like interstellar you can totally do an extremely realistic space scene. They need to really up the special effects and make some changes.

    Snyder has to go.

The question is whether or not Idris Elba would be able to take a DC contract what with being on a Marvel contract at the moment. I don't know if that contract ended with Ragnarok, however.
