Casino Royale uncut and rated '15' for UK 50th Anniversary box set

The uncut international version has been passed '15' for the upcoming Blu-ray set :) Since I assume EON want all countries to have the same version, this means that Casino Royale should also be released uncut in the US edition of the box set too. Wahey!

Uncut?!?? More Tourture scenes?!?!? That scene is fine as it is. Put the cricket provillen stuff back in!
  • I got a pirate copy (I know, I know- not good) of Casino Royale about 2 weeks after it was released at the cinema and it includes the full uncut torture scene where Le Chiffre lays the rope over Bond's shoulder at the beginning of the scene....It's brutal!

Yes, some preview versions in the UK were shown uncut. A similar situation happened with The Matrix in some counties.

It's about one shot but it's nice to see the proper version out there for all to see at last.

Sadly not. The special features have already been confirmed and there's nothing new.

No, it won't be an extended director's cut edition, it's just the international version without the MPAA or BBFC cuts. And there's actually three shots missing in the UK version, but they are so slight no one ever notices the other two. I think the BBFC edits make very little difference to the scene!

Including the one with Eva in the water! ;)

Will any other films have their ratings changed or is that it now?

No other films set to be upped to a 12 from a PG rating?

Does anyone know if any of the other films will be uncut?
  • Not sure what you mean "set to be upped". Nothing is set, the BBFC only makes that decision if the company resubmits a film for classification. We don't know until they review it.

Most of the earlier films have passed at the same level (including Thunderball, which surprised me). GoldenEye has retained its ridiculous '15' rating, as has Licence to Kill. Both are uncut, as per the UE DVDs. Unless we see a proper uncut Quantum of Solace, I think that's the only one that we can hope to see uncut. And whatever happened to Marc Foster's alternate version that was apparently coming?

There are no other films out there with cut versions are far as I'm aware. Unless The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day or Quantum Of Solace received a trim at some point.

That's the one I am referring to. Does anyone know of the other missing scene?

The second release of the film with more features and the extra ending scene hasn't turned up yet. It's very annoying.

I'm shocked Thunderball is still a PG!
  • Thunderball is definitely at the upper end of 'PG'. Quantum of Solace received alterations in three scenes thanks to the BBFC, and these changes sadly made their way into international versions.

The playing card being ripped in half, Le Chiffre peering out of the window. There a quite a number that didn't make it into the finished film.

Quantum Of Solace's uncut version must still exist, I'd love if it was released as part of this set too.

Were any cuts to the last two Brosnan films made, you're aware of @GavSalkeld?

What was the card getting ripped? I have seen Le Chiffre looking out the window.

Does anyone know why there is no commentary on the two Craig films and no deleted scenes on the DVD?

Exactly. I would love a commentary, especially from Dan who adores being Bond.

In the trailer, I'm not sure which one. There is also a still from the scene showing the ripped card here:

We've been given the lesser version of the two that Casino Royale has on DVD. The other has a commentary and deleted scenes.

Is Le Chiffre ripping the ace of spades? Makes sense considering it is the "death card".

No, it's the seven of spades.

Also there's an extended version of Valenka swimming under the water. Lots of scenes still to be released to the world! One day, we may see them.

Skyfall seems to going in the right direction, hopefully we will get a cast and crew commentary and deleted scenes for the DVD. We may see UltraViolet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UltraViolet_(system)) as it says on the article that Sony are signed up to it.

Expect all that in the second DVD release. The first will be bare bones, as usual.

You can see the card that far away?

We had a barebones DVD and a Deluxe Edition already.
Also, scenes in trailers are quite often composed of unused/alternate shots to avoid spoilers, or even specially-shot sequences. Its possible these were never intended to be in the film, or even as deleted scenes.

Might as well wait for the second edition, that's if they decide to do extra's that are worthwhile this time.

Look at the screen shot, it's got '7' in the corner. Plus it's even clearer in the trailer. Also, the ace of spades is also different looking to the rest of the pack.

@Ben was talking about Skyfall's DVD release.
  • Ah, my apologies!

Quite the tease if that's the case! Casino Royale does seem to have a lot missing on the cutting room floor, more than most films, as does Die Another Day.

That exact reason I still don't own Quantum Of Solace. I want the proper edition this time and won't be conned like I was with Casino Royale! Lesson learned.

Haha, sound like a good idea.

I'm sure you don't really care but I'm going to tell you anyway. :P

At 1:08 is him ripping the card. And it's a 5 of spades, also you can see in the image that the spade layout is too spread out to be a 7. I did say you wouldn't care. :P
