You have? Cool. I think I'm one of those people. :P In fact, I just got One Life in the mail today, and will no doubt love it. Ok, not a phone book, and I've loved nature documentaries since I was a kid, but anyway... :D He has a fantastic voice.

I love "One life" Its beautful to look at and listen to. And yes, he has a fantastic voice and he knows, how to use it. I know some americans, wo are dead crazy for that british accent going with it. ;)

There's no such thing as a British accent.

Of course, there is. Ask the americans. They love it, not only his.

What the Americans love is an English accent. More specifically they seem to love the posh London accent. Craigs accent is strange. It's English but it's hard to place it. It's sort of a plain English accent.

British accent would be some wierd mix of English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish.

Oh come on royale, I am German. I mean exactly, what you said and didn't make any difference for beter knowledge. The people I talk to always refer to as a british accent, too. But then, they are not English either.
  • What kind of accent does he have? Cheshire? Liverpool? A gentrified mix?

Same accent as myself. I'm from Cheshire but my accent is quite nuetral. The pronunciation is not particularly harsh, as some northern accents, such as the word 'bath' isn't pronounced 'barth' as it would be in the south, but neither is it harsh on the 'a', e.g. Dalton and 'nasty'.

To lordflasheart - 'Cash crazy' actually(money, money, money). As to Dan Craigs accent , he grew up in the Wirral I believe a part of Cheshire very close to Liverpool. He's ironed out the Northern accent, which is very harsh and unnatractive (listen to Peter Kay or the morons on Coronation Street)) - but Drama Schools have speech classes as part of their regular curriculum so the answer probably lies there. When Dan Craig was four years old I was staying with my auntie in the same area for the summer holidays having just passed my 'O'level exams and I had a temporary summer job at a local Wirral electrical shop (my first visit to the Liverpool area) I was 16 that year but if I had passed little 4 year old Dan in the local streets I could never have guessed that one day he would be passing himself off as 007(Bond).

Nothing like a bit of stereotyping. Not everyone from the north has a defined accent, and not everyone who does sounds unnattractive.

..and this mean exactly what? That he didn't look like a hot contender for the role of Bond at the age of four?

Sean didn't look like he could be Bond either, but there you go!

  • I'm surprised that this thread is still going - I thought that it would have died a long time ago when, you know, Daniel Craig was signed for TWO MORE FILMS. ;-)

Look at how many DUD films Roger Moore spewed out - the hours and money I wasted sitting thru that P.O.S in Londons most expensive Cinema (the Odeon Leicester Square). As a degree student on a modest income I resented the Ten Pounds a time such places charge - when the product is not up to standard.( I saw every one of Rogers efforts at the cinema) The Big Odeon was the place of Film premieres and had first call on the Bond films - if you wanted to see them ASAP you went there.Quantity is no guarantee of quality.'Well' you might say 'Why don't you stop going to Bond fims ? ' - which is exactly what I have done, I gave up after treating relatives to see Casino Royale at the local Cinema. Just the trailer is enough to put me off now.

But you still feel obliged to bash them. This is strange...

Did you see QoS or Skyfall?

It always baffles me when i hear about someone who doesen't even try to watch every Bondfilm. I mean, when someone call themselves a Bondfan then i think it would include to atleast give every Bondfilm a try.

Well there is all sorts, the Craigfans who bash everything else because their 007 is superiour, the Daltonites, the Fleming book fans, the Connery fans, the Moore fans, the Lazenby fans, the fans of the literary Bond, the fans of the movie Bonds.

Which of them is the true Bondfan?

If you dislike a certain direction that a certain actor goes it does not make you a lesser fan, just a fan with a different taste.
If you have never read all Bond novels but have seen all movies does that make you a lesser Bondfan?

Anybody daft enough to come on a forum and argues for his part of the 007 lore is in my book a Bondfan. Anybody denying that is the lesser fan in my humble opinion.

  • Over half this site hasn't read all the books (me included) but we still think of them as Bond fans.

So I think the same should go for the films.

I was just asking that of @Jason19 because he had been a Craig basher, apparently without no evidence to support his thoughts except CR.

Well everyone who has a opinion and actually have some sort of knowledge about Bond and appreciates the films/or the books are Bond fans in my book.

I'm just so surprised when i see people who doesen't want to watch a film ( it doesen't need to be a Bondfilm ) because a certain actor/director/writer is wrong. I mean, it can be proved the opposite. And even more if you're a Bondfan. Because Bond is Bond despite who's playing the role.

I like all the Bondactors, i've read all the books. But that doesen't make me a better Bondfilm then someone who doesen't like everyone or hasn't read the books.

There is a good point here. I HATED Lord Of The Rings and stayed away from King Kong. As a remake and a Jackson movie, I figured it had two strikes against it. But recently I watched it and enjoyed it.

I didn't fall in love with Casino Royale the first time I saw it and so didn't see Quantum of Solace. But after going with a buddy to see Skyfall I feel like I suddenly 'got' Daniel Craig as Bond, and have since gone back and developed an appreciation for both.

Maybe I'll bite the bullet and watch The Hobbit.

    But probably not.

I agree with SaintMark . Bond Fans on this site should remember that for veteran fans like me (who was taken to the Cinema by parents to see Dr.No when I was literally at infants school - there was no age limit then) there was nowhere to express an opinion about these films. Nowhere to discuss our likes or dislikes for over thirty years - that is the wonder of the computer age and the joy of mi6 - it is a luxury to express one's views and see other Fans views that we didn't have for many years.

Too sad, you don't have anything nice to say. But then, you haven't even seen the last two films, if I remember right.

Maybe it's just me but regarding the movies at least, it's a bit like a marriage, for better or worse. I own all the movies, will go to see all the films at the cinema and and I'm sure I spend an unhealthy amount of time engaging in anything Bond-related. However, good or bad, I make the effort to give what ever it is a chance and then come to a conclusion as opposed to simply writing it off just because I may have had a crappy time prior.

That's exactly how I feel about it. In addition, and I believe many others are with me on this, I think one can only criticize a film/book/album etc after one has watched/read/listened to it.

Going to the cinema since infants school (with parents first) to see all six Bonds I think I can judge from the trailers what DC's next efforts would be like. Besides the Bond industry has had a lot of money out of me.Besides paying to see the films at the Cinema (sometimes two or three times the same film)- when I was a Junior School boy I had Bond toy cars ( I still have a collection today) - then when vinyl records of Bond music came out I bought the L.P.s and around about the age of twelve I started buying and reading the Fleming novels.Today I also have Bond music CD's. Rather than waste money on the DC efforts I prefer to see an intelligent film like 'The King's Speech' or Will Smith's 'The Pursuit of Happyness' ( a true story of Rags to Riches).

In a way, you are funny. But what on earth do you want here or in the threads, that concern SF and DC? Obviously its nothing of your interest apart from spreading negativity without having seen the films. Pathetic really. And of a grown man in his 50's its even worse.
You are a nasty little goblin, aren't you?

Germanlady - do you really think that people who have grown up with James Bond and the like(The Man From Uncle, Mission Impossible etc.) over the years cannot form a sensible opinion about a series that has run this long? Have you ever 'even' seen Daniel Craig in person? I went to see a play he was in at London's Old Vic three times in 1998- not because of him but because the play also featured Elizabeth McGovern (from Downton Abbey ) and was directed by the legendary Sir Peter Hall. Craig is quite a good actor but he will never be Bond to me, neither will 'silly' Roger Moore or asthmatic Pierce Brosnan (all bad choices for the role). When did you first go to the Cinema to see a Bond film ? - and I mean Cinema not television. By the way are you a 'Lady GaGa' fan as well ?
