David Rockefeller recently died at 101. One of the wealthiest and most influential men over several decades, and hardly a word is written about him in the papers. I find that peculiar, but not surprising.

Chuck Barris has passed away, aged 87. In addition to being the creator of so many game shows, some of them having been adapted in many countries, he was also the inspiration for Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, starring George Clooney.

And my thoughts go to the victims of today's attack in London.

Robert Day, prolific director for both British (including The Avengers) and US television. His late brother, Ernest Day, was a crew member on some Bond films. He was the widower of actress Dorothy Provine, who died in 2010.

I was sad to read in The Times through the week that the famous Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko had died of cancer aged 83 on 1 April 2017. His famous poem 'Babi Yar' is quoted at the start of John Gardner's The Man From Barbarossa (1991).

Just looked at his Wiki page and realised that I have 2 films with him in as well as the 1954 Casino Royale: Bataan (1943) and The Shining (1980).

lol I actually had to google that! I read that and thought, 'who the hell is Robert Haakon Nielsen?'

Barry Nelson, a surprisingly good American Bond, and filmed LIVE, which is even more impressive! I loved him in The Shining too.

Presumably his birth certificate says 'James' :)

Don Rickles, an unbelievably sharp and uniquely funny man. Great to the end, loved hearing his stories about the old days in entertainment. I grew up watching him on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. And I'll always return from time to time to his recorded material.

I'm saddened to hear about Tim Piggott-Smith. I saw him on stage just last year in King Charles III. He played the leading role as Charles. Great actor. RIP.

Heard that on BBC Radio 4 along with an excerpt from his King Charles III play. Sad news.

Liked his brief moment in QOS but he shone most for me in Remains of The Day alongside Hopkins & Thompson, still the best Merchant Ivory film.

R.I.P Tim Piggott Smith, you will be missed, thoughts to family and friends.

He was great in Johnny English. He was also perfect in QoS as the pragmatic public servant. RIP

RIP, Tim Piggott-Smith! He does so well with such a small role in QoS, and it says a lot when you can convincingly one-up an actress like Dame Judi Dench.

I hoped to see him back for another Bond movie. Because that the chachter he played was not fan of (Dench) M and Bond.

Besides Johnny English (dvd) and QOS. I also have seen The Four Feathers (dvd) Alice in Wonderland and in Red 2. V for vendetta (BD)i stil must see. Gangs of New York is on my dvd wishlist.

    Rip.
  • RIP Tim Pigott-Smith. Glad to have had him a part of the Bond legacy. Enjoyed him in The Remains of the Day as well. A fine actor.
