R. I. P. Clive James
A very witty man. He introduced us to the Japanese game show Endurance, where unfortunate contestants are put through various tortures to win.
Once asked by an interviewer, "What did the winner get?" Clive replied, "I think he got to come back the next year!!"
RIP Hilary Saltzman, Harry Saltzman's daughter.
That's very sad news indeed.

Still trying to take in the news on Hilary Saltzman. In a major way, her loss will represent the pasting of an era. Still trying to confirm.
DC Fontana one of the best ever writers for Star Trek R. I. P.

"Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson dies, aged 61" huge fan, what a stunning voice, underrated band IMHO, produced some great songs, so sad.
RIP, Marie. I was always a big fan. Still am. I've got everything Roxette's ever released. Sad day.
RIP
Back in the late 80's,/early 90's I hoped, they would do a Bond Title Song. Wasn't to be. Maybe because of the six-year-hiatus betwen LTK and GE. Who knows.
To this day, Crash!Boom!Bang! remains my favourite Roxette album--and song for that matter. But Listen To Your Heart, Fading Like A Flower, The Look, Joyride, Almost Unreal, How Do You Do, ... are all excellent songs. Like @DoctorKaufmann, I wish they'd had gotten a shot at a Bond song. LTK would have been the perfect time, GE too.
What Per could never bring to the vocals, Marie made up for in spades.
And for me, that was with Roxette. After hearing Joyride for the first time I was hooked. The sexy video helped too of course. ;)
Marie was a fantastic singer, just listen to Fading Like A Flower or Spending My Time. Their albums after 1999 are quite weak for the most part, but never because of her...
In subsequent years I became a metalhead (without stopping to listen to other genres!) . I almost never listen to them now, but when I do Marie always brings a smile to my face.
RIP. 61 is way too young.
Oh and fuck you cancer.
Also remember him from CPW

Sir Peter Snell.
He won the Olympic 800m gold medal in Rome in 1960, broke the mile record in 1962. Won two gold medals at the 1962 Commonwealth Games in Perth. Set two world records in the 800m and 1000m (both remain national records in NZ)
Perhaps his greatest moment was in 1964 at the Tokyo Olympics he won 800m gold and 1500m gold medal. He remains the only man since 1908 to win the 800m and 1500m in the same Olympics (just a day apart). He competed in three Olympic races - won them all and then retired at only the age of 26.
A humble and focused man who will continue to be an inspiration for generations of runners.
He was an icon in my country and our greatest athlete.
