It happens to the best of us! Whenever I need to quickly check something in Fleming, I consult Project Gutenberg Canada, which has uploaded all but one of the Bond books, and do a text search. Fleming is public domain in Canada and the uploads are entirely legal.

Yes, I think you may have mentioned that before but I'd forgotten about it. I'll keep it in mind the next time I want to check a quote and I'm separated from my Bond book collection! Admittedly, I have searched Project Gutenberg for other things in the past however such as obscure or hard to obtain books.

....and STUART DAMON has died at the age of 84. I think he would have made an outstanding Felix Leiter during the Moore era based on their chemistry on THE SAINT.

Aww, that's sad news. Loved him in The Champions when I was a kid after seeing the show repeated on BBC 2 in the mid-1990s. I used to be obsessed with that show along with James Bond and Columbo. I pretty much still am to be honest. I bought the show on DVD some years ago.

Good call on him being suitable for the role of Felix Leiter. Never thought of that before but I could see it working actually, especially if he was given more of an action-oriented role than some of the other actors who played Leiter. Only William Gaunt left out of the trio now; the stunningly beautiful Alexandra Bastedo having died in 2014.

If you ever see that SAINT episode, "The Ex King of Diamonds" you'll see what I mean. His chemistry with Sir Roger was brilliant. It's a great comedic episode.

I should have that one on DVD as I have the Colour Episodes boxset of The Saint (as well as most of the B/W ones). I'll certainly check that episode out ASAP. I wasn't aware that he'd guest starred on The Saint but it makes sense as both it and The Champions were ITC shows and they often shared stars around.

Sad to hear that Richard Donner has passed. The director of what is still the best superhero film ever, the mighty Superman The Movie. Even at the age of 90 he was hoping to do Lethal Weapon 5. Now sadly never to be .

In memory of Richard Donner, an old post that I had posted in the controversial opinions about other movies thread. I still stand by it.

We have truly underrated Richard Donner as a director in the movie-going public. He takes risks, tries new genres, learns from his career and mistakes. He’s got classics in action, epic, comedy, and horror. How many other people can say that? Had he not been fired from Superman, he could have helped him and his world go further than where he is now. Enough with Lex Luthor, General Zod and made up villains WB!
Meanwhile, we over praised James Cameron. Other than special effects, what has he honestly pushed forward? He rips off more in his writing than Quentin Tarantino, and no where more creative when he does. He’s mean and self centered. Talks a lot, and never amounts to anything. Had Titanic or Avatar bombed, he would be the modern day Michael Cimino. Richard Donner is always worth your time, James Cameron isn’t.

Just learned that belgian writer Henri Vernes, creator of the long-running (more than 200 novels) series Bob Morane, has passed away, aged 102. Like every kid of my generation, I've read a few of his novels, as well as a few of the graphic novels inspired by them. They were pulps, yes, but they hold a special place in the heart of all lovers of adventure and science-fiction novels in France.

Another demise of note : french actor and director Jean-François Stévenin has passed away, aged 77.

Never read the books, but have read some of the comic albums illustrated by Vance, and loved that series as a child. Thought The Yellow Shadow was a grat villain.

The world of rock music has been hit hard these past few days. First, the drummer of Slipknot, Joey Jordison, has passed away, aged 46 :

And then, ZZ Top bassist, Dusty Hill, has left us, aged 72 :
