Sad news. Lester Piggott even gets a mention in John Gardner’s Licence Renewed (1981), Chapter 6:
"For the Gold Cup, the Queen's horse was favourite, with Lester Piggott up; and odds at only five-to-four on."

But he was also fantastic in the many roles he took in longtime collaborator Paul Thomas Anderson's movies.
A great character actor, he will be sorely missed. RIP
He was also great in The Talented Mr Ripley, as a private detective that got everything utterly wrong, yet still managed to come off as smart and very competent (spoiler alert for those who never saw the movie):
The full scene (again, spoiler alert):

Just read about that, so sad to hear. Z is one of my favorite films.
He was also wrestling as Leatherface over in Japan (yes , based on the movie)
40 yrs since Curt Jurgens died :(
Rado was the co-author (with Gerome Ragni) and one of the lead actors in the Broadway production of HAIR, a landmark musical of the late '60s. With the help of their musical collaborator Galt MacDermot, Ragni & Rado wrote a whole bunch of the biggest songs of of that amazing time. Here's the mashup of the opening and closing songs from HAIR, recorded by the 5th Dimension:
And just to give a different perspective, here's that closing song from the movie version of HAIR:
"Moving paper fantasies" indeed.

Wow. One hell of a filmography. I remember him in Paths of Glory and of course The Shining. In the former he was the living embodiment of French existentialist principles and in the latter he showed that ghosts don't have to be more than a presence to be scary. No need of shrouds, chains, skulls, or what have you. His Lloyd is well dressed, affable, professional, the perfect barman. Yet he shouldn't be there.
I only realized it finally about two or so years back. It really is a testament to his talents.
