Bill Russell, NBA legend – and a legend off the court as well – has passed away at the age of 88. And naturally this news is followed up by the announcement that Nichelle Nichols (Uhura on Star Trek) has passed away.
Without being overtly political, it may be difficult for younger people to fully appreciate their individual struggles and the important symbolism that they represented during the civil rights struggles of the 1960s and 70s.
RIP to two trailblazers and thank you. I’ll see you on the flip side.

Here's one of his most famous songs, from the french musical Les Dix Commandements :
And here's one of my own favorites, from deep inside the fabled studios at Abbey Road: "I'll Never Find Another You." Rest in Peace, Judith...

I seemed to remember one of the US news programs doing a profile of the Seekers some years ago (can't find it at the moment). In any case, without going on a "back in my day" rant, I do miss the variety of sounds on AM radio when I was growing up. Ms. Durham was a part of that.
RIP Ms. Judith Durham
