Only just saw this over on AJB myself...

Awww! No! One of my favourite actors too - in Columbo and Bond and beyond. At least he had a good long life. Thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.

The last "classic" James Bond film villain? I really think so.

One of the best Bond villains of the series. It was in no small part my love of Bond (and Octopussy) came from the villainous turn of Jourdan.
A truly memorable role that he created in Kamal Khan.

RIP Mr.Jourdan, and thank you for starring in such a great Bond movie.

Yes, perhaps we could take the time to re-evaluate his contribution to the Bond film series as the dastardly Prince Kamal Khan?

Heartbreaking news. A death like this shows you how far back the Bond series goes and how far it reaches.

    Rest in peace Louis.
  • RIP indeed. The man had a good long haul though, and dying peacefully of old age in the comfort of your own home is the way to go. I believe I'll watch Octopussy today in his honor

RIP Louis Jourdan, this is very sad news indeed. He was extremely fun to watch as the cunning Kamal Khan in one of my favourite Bond films.

So sad to hear the passing of Louis Jourdan. Loved his interpretation of Prince Kamal Khan. A great loss indeed, RIP Louis Jourdan.

OP was once rated my least favorite Bond movie. Recent years has caused a mass revisiting to that rating/ranking and I now regard it much higher. A great reason for this is Louis Jourdan's greatly underrated performance as Kamal Khan. His delivery and demeanor was fantastic. He will be greatly missed. Everyone put your OP dvd/blu-rays in this week. Thank you for all the fond memories Mr. Jourdan. RIP.

Oh, heavens. We've seen so many iconic members of the Bond franchise pass recently. Jaws, Ourumov, Baron Samedi, and now Kamal Khan.

    RIP, Louis.

RIP Louis. We've lost a lot of Bond villains in the last few months...
  • RIP Louis Jourdan. Sad news. Will have to take in OP this week
  • RIP Mr Jourdan.

Here a nice picture of him with his friends Kirk Douglas and Sidney Poitier. I believe it was in 2010 when he received an honorary film award:

I must say though, Jourdan sure looked good for 61, playing Kamal Khan in 1983.
Now anyone can good look at 61, but he managed to look late 40's handsome at 61, and with full head of dark hair. Must have used hair dye, but that's OK.
He was one matinee idol, good-looking guy.

This is a serious day in Bond fandom.
A lead-villain actor has passed on. We should all pause, reflect, and give OP a view in the next week or so, in tribute.

I'm at work at present, but later today I'd like the devote a thread to Louis Jourdan. I'm sure I'm not alone in that thought reading some of the comments.

I have mixed feelings on Octopussy as a film, but I've always thought Louis Jourdan played a marvelously scheming and sly villain in Kamal Khan. It was only after Bond that I found out about his extensive and established career.

    RIP.

Seeing some of the quoted lines from fans on the James Bond Radio Facebook page reminded me how many corkers Mr Jourdan had as Kamal Kahn. I'll always remember first hearing his "you have...a nasty habit...of surviving" line on the James Bond UK VHS trailer in the mid 90s. I'm sure I first heard that quote sometime before I actually saw Octopussy but the way that line was used always stuck with me.

A genuinely great Bond villain and it's sad to hear of the passing of the distinguished actor who brought him to life.

    Rest in Peace Mr Jourdan.
