Maybe too tall and bit gangly for the role but what about Timothy Olyphant?

Good call! I said his name waaay back when the notion of recasting came up and it seemed nobody agreed with me!

I'm on board with Pratt if it happens, but people have to remember that Indiana Jones not only has to pull off the action and humor, but he must also be able to 'turn that off' and be a College Professor! And not a goofball, fun Professor either-- a GOOD one! One who takes his job seriously and really knows his stuff! Look at Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark: after the very first scene with the Idol, he's shown at the college, all cleaned up and shaved, and his demeanor is practically night and day!
Practically like Clark Kent and Superman!

Can Pratt pull that off? We will see.... but when I picture him in the classroom I picture a teacher who could have students throw balls of paper at him, laugh, and throw them back.

I just don't see Pratt as Indy. He's a bit too goofy in his performance. For me, Karl Urban would be the Perfect Indy. He's got the charm, the loosk and could pull him off perfectly in my opinion.

However, he didn't succeed in his mission of killing Bruce Willis in 'RED'. ;)

Yeah, that's a pretty tiny part of Indy's character. Nonetheless, Pratt was pretty convincing as a dinosaur expert, I don't see why he couldn't be convincing as an archaeology expert.

Urban wouldn't be a problem with me, his Bones McCoy is one of the highlights of the new Star Trek films, plenty of charisma.

Master_Dahark does raise a good point about the Clark Kent/Superman, Ford was adept getting over that awkward professor but then making that transformation to whip cracking adventurous archaeologist.

I certainly don't want to see Ford in the role again, the best thing to do is not have him in at all as people won't be able to get him out of their heads as Indy. A new guy and new start, they could take a note from that Spy series which did rather good (well to some) going down this route.

The Terminator franchise is going to kill itself off again if they keep casting that aging Austrian oak all the time.

Spielberg has said he will direct it, if Pratt is selected. That may be too good for Disney to turn down. Interestingly Indian Jones was a Lucas/Spielberg double act. Would be incredible if both returned. I like Pratt he can switch from serious to comedy with ease, you see elements of this in Gaurdians of the Galaxy. Still think Sharlto Copley has the look

If there is a new Indy actor, then there must be a new Jones Snr. Brosnan? Dalton?

Although it might seem a bit of a gimmick casting another Bond in that role as long as it is Dalton would be a great idea, sorry I don't see Brosnan doing convincing stern whereas as Dalton would ace it.

Did have a thought though watching the first 2 episodes of Penny Dreadful S2 that I'd love to see Dalton play Van Helsing in a proper adaptation of Bram Stokers Dracula and Mad Mikklesen playing the count.

i also like the idea of Chris Pratt as Indiana Jones.... but, if they really wanted to include Harrison Ford, there is a way to have both in the film... Have the film start out with Harrison as an old Indy, then have him go into telling a story of one his old adventures - then you cut to (travel back in time) to Pratt as a young Indy back in the late 20s/early 30s... but i would rather leave Ford out of it..

but this would give the chance to set the series right back where it belongs, in the late 20s/early to mid 30s, and have Indy going up against Nazis again... i know some on here mentioned about "not remaking Indiana Jones movies".. you don't have to - continue on with new adventures just like James Bond did - personally, i think that is what we all want to see and what we all hope for.. and if Spielberg is involved with it, no way he is going to tell a story he already told... this might be an opportunity to give Dr. Jones his "Casino Royale" moment - an "Indy Begins" if you will... they could go back and reintroduce Marion and their first meeting - maybe even professor Ravenwood (as we never got to meet him), heck maybe even a cameo by Forestal (way before he gets the ol' spears in the beginning of Raiders)

The late 20's to the late 30's is truly where Indiana Jones belongs. The world was a bigger, more mysterious and romantic place then.

So true. The archaeological world with action also made sense with the fact Hitlers SS Paranormal Division being a real thing, and the delusion of Hitler thinking he could win the war with the help of Demons and mystical powers. Jones really does only belong in this time line 20,30,40's.

I think Sharlto Copley is a really good choice. He looks the part and he's really good at blending into roles. He's one of the few actors where I never see him as the actor at all while watching him, I always see him as the character.

I'm sure there are more good Indy stories out there but perhaps we need to consider recasting. I think Ford just barely got away with it in Skull and that was years ago.

I posted this in the Star Wars topic. This actor got a job playing the young version of Harrison Ford's character in Age of Adeline. Maybe he'll get Solo or Jones.

For all of the intrigue and power behind the idea of the garden of Eden it is rarely used in literature or films
  • Posts: 4,813
What would the Garden do though? It's not like the Fountain of Youth where it's obvious. I wonder what supernatural element would accompany the Garden of Eden?
The garden of Eden in fact holds two trees the tree of life and the tree of knowledge Adam could eat from any tree except from the tree of knowledge. Also God walked in the garden of Eden daily so a face to face interaction with God himself sure ideas explored in 1 and 3 but not to the extent plus Eden has its own real intrigue to draw from Prester John etc.

You know one thing that has me wondering regarding any potential reboot? The gear.

Would Indy still have the familiar leather jacket, tan pants, Safari shirt and satchel? Or would they change it up some? (I figure the hat is a given)
When they rebooted Robocop they changed his appearance head to toe- would Indy suffer the same fate?
If they make it a straight sequel that gives new adventures but ignores the new cast, we might be ok.
That does raise another question though: did Ford's Indy seriously wear the same stuff in all the movies? I'd be certain the hat is the same throughout the years (since he's so sentimental towards it) and I suppose it's a stretch but the leather jacket could be the same. Other than that I'm picturing his closet at home full of identical shirt and pants and that makes me smile:)

He's an archeologist - the outfit isn't out of place, especially in the years set.

The trousers and shirt (khaki colour against the sand and heat) are reminiscent of the army, specifically the trousers, which are roughly WW2 American army Officer style.

Hard wearing for all his digging and fighty needs.

The shirt is an old Safari style, again perfect for whatever weather and situations he's likely to come up against.

Is his closet at home full of identical shirt and pants? Very likely, a

I doubt they'd ever look for eden because for eden to exist the world would have to be 6000 years old. It wouldn't make sense otherwise.
