I didn't think so. It's so obviously bogus to me that I don't know why so many people seem to feed right into it. I guess people get excited about negativity.

A lot of it is the culture war stuff; stoking division over diversity and women. It's all rather horrible.

I feel it's quite ironic because these people who write these articles complaining about diversity and women in franchise films seem to actually want this stuff to happen because it gives them a reason to complain about it and supports their own political agendas. You'll probably find a lot of them don't even give a crap about Indiana Jones, but they do care that it is supposedly "woke". They love it.

These articles and videos are wishful thinking on their part because they want to be able to complain and not to mention the fact that the clicks on those complaints pay their bills.

The existence of non white, male, heterosexual people in entertainment should NOT be disparagingly called “woke.” That’s just thinly veiled bigotry. I think what upsets people more is overly preachy messaging, replacement of already-established white male characters, Mary Sue types like Rey Skywalker, double standards like with objectification, and generalized male bashing to prop women up. Militant progressivism turns off moderates like me.

I can understand that but the problem is that these people try to anticipate and expect it simply based on the fact that a project has even decided to cast with diversity in mind, meaning that even when it's done without those elements you mentioned above, the project is still trashed and ridiculed online.

100%. Being extremist one way or another is sadly what’s popular now.

What does "Mary Sue types like Rey Skywalker" mean ? There must be at least two references in here, and I do not follow or understand either.

In a nutshell, a Mary Sue character means a character that is *too* perfect, and Rey is the lead protagonist of the newest Star Wars trilogy. The reason that would be “woke” or undesirable is that she isn’t a relatable character; her lack of flaws makes her a bad example of female empowerment.

That's a movie! It doesn't look bad, but I am tired of seeing train fights... there's another coming up in Mission: Impossible too.

I think it'll be great, some of the effects have a way to go though; I hope they'll be refining those. I'm a bit worried that he needs face replacement to just be standing in a room holding a whip.

    And what... is that?

It looks and feels like classic entry into the franchise. The cinematography, the action sequences. I already think this is gonna feel like watching an old classic adventure film in the cinemas and I cannot wait,

Looks good but that title - UGH ! Perhaps they wanted to honor Steven Spielberg by leaving him having directed the last well-titled IJ film before they went weak and wan. And that is saying something since IJATKOTCS was absurdly long a title, and would communicated as much with just "IJ and the Crystal Skull." This new one may as well be "IJ and the thing that does stuff". It seems like a place-keeper, awaiting the REAL title once it gets decided upon. If they wise up and change it, it would not be the first time such a thing were done, and it did not seem to hurt in the past when done.
Dial of Destiny....sounds like a story that needs a Maytag repairman more than Indy Jones.
By the way - I guess no students will be batting their messaged-eyelids at Professor Jones at this point, but another professor or an administrator could do it, even as a joke, such as if they knew what happened years ago and were telling the professor, essentially, "you've still got it, Doc."

Looking forward to it. Nice to see John Rhys-Davies get a big movie again. Hopefully Karen Allen will get to say the same. Great cinematography and great looking action pieces. It’ll be interesting to see how the scuba diving will be in the movie.

Yeah, niggles aside, it looks brilliant doesn't it?
Indy riding a horse through the subway. That's just so right!

I guess both my wife and I (plus our two cats) think we'd rather wait until the final version comes out before we cast a final vote on this.

I like the title. Always was a sucker for alliterations.

Doesn't look half bad. I do miss the grain on the old ones. This digital age isn't doing anything for me, film wise. Nor are all of those special effects and fake explosions. I won't go into this one filled with confidence, though, as the last one made me sick for months until I could stream it out of my system with a good dosage of the original trilogy on repeat.

But I'll give it the chance it deserves, that's for sure. Next year is building up to be a fun one, with this and M:I-DR(P1). I do wish some group of geniuses would start making great cinema again, though, as frontrunners of their own manifest. Do people like that still exist?

Anyway, I'm all for hope. So, here's hoping.

It looks good but I will say there was wayyyy more CGI in those sequences than I'd like after reading Mangold's thoughts on wanting to go as practical as possible.

Of course that is fair. However, I can't deny the excitement I feel. And there's very few properties left that can elicit such a reaction from me.

As @mtm says, it feels right!

Raiders... is my favorite movie of all time, the nostalgia was always going to get me. There are very few film's these days that will get me in the cinema, Indy is one of the few.

It does look awesome, I don’t see how that isn’t impressive-looking. And the title confirmed is a solid one. I’ll be there as soon as I can, and run through the films once again once the time draws near.

I guess it was futile to expect them to make it look like a movie shot in 1981.
