Perhaps chief among them is that it makes it very easy to know when they're close to production, as suddenly a lot of American actors will start popping up in places like Oxfordshire.

I am so pumped for the movie and following the production.
- according to imdb, Indy 5 has a Military Technical Adviser
- someone on twitter heard a rumour that some Indy 5 scenes will be filmed in Bamburgh (I am guessing Bamburgh castle?)
- according to two10casting.com a Disney feature film will be filmed near Newcastle next month and they are looking for male extras for millitary roles
Bamburgh is an hour drive away from Newcastle. Could this all point to a major Indy 5 setpiece involving soldiers and the Bamburgh castle?
Another castling call that could be about Indy 5 (also from two10casting.com): Disney feature film, filmed near Glasgow in July, male and female extras with long hair /beards / afros / moustaches wanted. Could near Glasgow mean "in Glasgow"? If yes, this could be about the NYC scenes of Indy 5 involving lots of hippies. (As it was pointed out in an earler comment, Glasgow is sometimes used as a stand-in for NYC).
Things are certainly going to get a little confusing in the summer when DC Comics' The Flash movie, will also be shooting in Glasgow at the same time (doubling for an American city, no less).
It gets better: according to a facebook post I just found Bamburgh Castle will be closed from June 4-12 due to filming! It was also closed on May 25 due to filming, I am guessing they did some test shots that day.
So it seems that filming of Indy 5 will begin at Bamburgh Castle on Firday! I wonder, what could be the McGuffin of Indy 5 considering that it seems their journey will lead the heros to a medieval castle?

I agree with them. While GL wasn’t the strongest screenwriter, he did have strong vision when directing. He should have directed more feature movies than the six that he did. Probably shouldn’t have written them though. I could see him directing Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men in the 90s when SS didn’t want to.
After he made Raiders, he campaigned for Han Solo to be killed at the end of Episode VI. But Lucas eventually decided he wouldn't follow the plans he had conceived with Gary Kurtz (big battle at the end, Darth Vader dies, the Emperor is still here, Han also dies, Leia, in mourning, retires, Luke hears about a sister who would have been introduced in episodes VII-IX) and would actually wrap everything on a lighter tone.
You can see the difference with his acting between ESB (made before he was cast as Indy) and ROTJ (shot after Raiders was released). On ROTJ, he's on auto-pilot.
The new Indiana Jones will also carry a very hefty price tag. Disney had to negotiate with Paramount to get the distribution rights for this film. The original deal between Lucasfilm and Paramount was that Paramount would get the distribution rights for five episodes in perpetuity (they didn't want to repeat the mistake made at Fox for Star Wars, which caused Alan Ladd Jr to be fired). As, supposedly, four films had been shot by the time Disney bought Lucasfilm, the fifth entry would have been released by Paramount. They found a compromise a few months later, but the terms are undisclosed.
In part because of the 60’s setting, which is chronically roughly 15 years earlier than real time, I’ve long contended that they will do a mild de-aging. If it were in actual time, following Raiders, it would be in the mid 70’s.
Ford looks fantastic, and it’s not like they would trying to make him look 25; the results would be flawless.
I just watched Call of the Wild and while he’s playing the character a bit more grizzled than Indy, he can still do this stuff just fine. I don’t think they’ll worry about making him look exactly Indy’s age: people looked older in the 60s anyway.
Oh yes, special visual effects are a lifelong passion of mine, it’s a well know “secret” that quite a few digital facelifts are done ; more often than not it’s very subtle.

As for his long troubled history with Solo, ROTJ was the only sticking point because the movie gave him nothing to do but act against teddy bears. So, he was completely justified to not be happy with it. He was well documented as saying how much he enjoyed playing the character in SW and TESB, so it was all much ado about nothing as far as his disliking the character.
If Kennedy was smart and knew what she was doing, they would get Ford on a 6-8 episode Solo show for Disney + set pre-Force Awakens. Everyone would lose their s*&% for that. He's already worked with Favreau so it seems like a no brainer. Ford likes to work and doesn't have a lot to do these days... I've no doubt he would agree to come back for that given the success of the Mandalorian
