John Cleese better playing R or Q?

  • Wasn't there a 'funny walk' in there somewhere, something that Cleese is remembered from for his previous acting work, just as the Invisible Car is presented ?

That is one of my favorite sequences of the whole film actually, Brosnan is given a key and disappears into the subway and meets M again for the first time since his escape from Hong Kong. "Abandoned stations for abandoned agents" etc, and then the meeting with Cleese as the new car is shown and Q says "Here's the instruction manual" (It's about ten inches thick) and Bond just throws it up in the air and it gets shot to pieces. "Should be able to shoot through that in no time". He never was one much for humor, but that time, it actually worked. Re-boot or not, they should of brought him back for Casino Royale. Cleese that is, not Brosnan
  • Cleese suits the scenes he's in both as R& Q. Wouldn't work with Craig's style of Bond but worked well in the Brosnan era.

John Cleeses' portrayal was yet another subpar aspect of the Brosnan era.

He played it as Basil Fawty. He plays every role as Basil Fawty. If he was doing Hamlet he would do it as Basil Fawty.
