  • I don't think it's fair for us to assume that Logan will be writing this alone. Though the possibility is clearly there (as Maibaum did for OHMSS), I think it is also quite possible for them to bring in another writer to either collaborate with Logan or do a re-write of his draft.

They used to be able to do one every two years so why not now. The time between Dr No and FrWL was even less. They just need to start well before the previous film is released and that's exactly what they seem to have done here.

maybe Bring Peter Morgan back since his "Big Hook" was and still is the driving point in Skyfall.

That's fine as long as it's someone decent and NOT p or w.

Different times, my friend. Different times.

2 year gaps sound great but at the same time I'm a bit afraid. Longer gaps seem to be beneficial when it comes to quality.

They can have a break after 2016. ;)

The last time we had three films with two year intervals was in the 90's, so I feel EON need to prove, if only to themselves they can do it again. As long as Bond 25 is being penned by 2014 we'll have no issue, I trust.

Bond has the momentum and guaranteed box office to allow them to plan ahead, so they just need to start work on the next film well in advance - as they seem to have done for Bond 24. Work needs to start three years prior to the film coming out.

It certainly won't be Purvis or Wade. Not after this announcement at least. What would be the point? Though I doubt it would be Peter Morgan either. His comments seem to suggest he was unceremoniously dumped from the project.

I heard he walked out during the scripting phase. Probably because of P and W

This seemed inevitable. During a lot of interviews for SKYFALL a lot of the people involved would talk about the strength of the screenplay and would only mention John Logan's name...not a mention for Purvis and Wade. How much really did they contribute to the last 3 films???
  • His comments seem to suggest he was unceremoniously dumped from the project.

To be fair, he did leave on his own and MGM really had no use for a complete crew while their organization was in shambles.

Let's hope Logan does get enough time and we don't have another TND disaster. (Aka the Bruce Feirstein scenario).

I think you guys are right. I don't remember the report exactly. Just the part about him feeling like they moved on without him and not feeling too good about the fact that most of his stuff was gone.

Seems about right to me. An agreed parting of the ways.

Everything is in place, from Bond 24 the real films can begin. Really hoping EON don't drop the ball now. Films in 2014 and 2016 at least, please!

I expect a November 2015 release. Haven't you heard Sam Mendes? For 'Skyfall' the whole production was just too long, too enormous. I think looking at the sheer size of productions like 'Casino Royale' and 'Skyfall', I think a 3-year gap is much more credible. Today's Bond films are as big as, let's say, TDK and TDKR. And I don't want to ever see a failure like 'Quantum' again. 'Quantum' more or less suffered from the same problems as 'Tomorrow Never Dies': too short production period.

Moreover, I want the cast for Bond 24 to be an ultimate dreamcast again, like with 'Skyfall'. In order to get all these Oscar winning/nominated cast and crew, you HAVE to schedule the movie for 2015 and not for 2014.

  • That's the age old debate isn't it? Do you stick to the 2-year release schedule to make the most of Craig while he still looks the part, but risk quality? Or do you space it out to three years (or four even), while taking time with your script and planning but risk Craig becoming too old in the meantime? It's a double-edged sword.

I see no reason why a "dream cast" can't be assembled again. This is Bond. After Skyfall that name alone should attract the best there is.

If we are getting a 2014 film we should hear by the Summer at the latest who the director will be.

    If True.

I always thaught Bond 24 wil be the last one, because of the connections with QOS/Quantum. Iam thinking it be dificult to see some other writers buld on work from other writers. Since it be confirmd Bond 24 wil be out in 2014 mabey it wil happend earlier because the producer the time is given not be enough for P&W. Also the Skyfall wil possible Dench last movie the circle of the a lot discus story about Dench M is finished and P&W started that in Twine. Another point be is that with DAD P&W partly proof there can't deal with the plot subject of DAD/CR then the possible Bond 24 plot wil to dificult to write for P&W too. Then i mean not only the water thing. From the moment someone like Fienes be cast the bells rings :-$ and i am being a litle bit worried %-( X_X but i also expext depth, more then QOS already did. :!! wil tell again more *-:) and mabey also a litle bit of ~X( .
  • The article also mention that a story plot has also been written probably some kind of draft! The question will be is Quantum back? is Blofeld back?

Quality doesn't have to be sacrificed.

All you need are the right people and Fleming and SF proves this.

Hell, look at the potter movies. They mostly came out every year or two and the movies were fantastic because they largely had the write people and were adapting Rowling's novels but the quality of the movies were never compromised. Bond can easily achieve the same.

We have the brilliance if Logan, we have a stellar cast and especially after SF, you can bet your bottom dollar that actors of the tallest order ate going to want in mow more so than ever. Trust me, CR was a game changer but SF has rewritten the rules of the game.

Does this mean that the likelihood of Mendes returning has increased?

    That would be so phenomenal.
    P/W out
    Logan in
    Deakins in
    Mendes in
    Newman in
    Fiennes in
    Wishaw in
    Harris (?)

Story: something with Quantum? Something where the stakes are bigger, less personal?

Locations: India, Afghanistan, Brazil (World Cup!), New York (UN!)

Yeah, but the Potter movies were based on a fairly detailed novel. They had a core story already. With Bond 24, it has to be an original screenplay.

True but even with detailed novels it's still easy to mess up. The Bobd movies are guilty of this more than enough times. In the end, as I mentioned, hire the right people and just go back to Fleming. Everything will take care of itself and as someone who has seen SF, I can say SF proves this.

I agree it does (I saw it on Tuesday as well), but remember the writers had three years to write just the script. That's a long time frame, and it was understandable that SF delivered such a great story. I just worry that Bond 24 might be too hastily done. I mean, what great scripts have been written in less than a year?

I am quite happy with this While i don't dislike Purvis and Wade Quite the opposite I loved how they updated Casino Royale I do think Logan will be a strong choice from now on Hopefully though we will still get one more Fleming title.

That would be great, but I don't think the story would be relevant in this day and age. The world's space programs just aren't the same as they were when the book was written in the 50s, or even when the film came out at the end of the 70s.

So, make it a 'supermissile' capable of delivering 10 MT to 30 various locations via split orbital delivery.
Ooops, did I just spill some classified beans here?
