  • in my openin, its the best bond film since goldeneye lol. laods of top crisitcs say its the best of the series though. theres alot saying it. i am leaning to beleive them. the plot is so personal and it's just different to any other film in the series, i think that makes it the best. but everyone has their own favourites.

Well, when they arrive on the island and walk in front of a 15 storey high damaged building, I felt I could see the green screen merge around the actors. I'm afraid the huge sets of previous Bond set a bar that is now very expensive to reach again. If SPECTRE comes back as rumored, I'm afraid we will have "huge" CGI sets...

Unfortunately I found the CGI from the roof of the bazaar (Craig's head on a stunt double) too noticable. Most people won't probably notice, since the clip lasted like 1-2 seconds.

I suppose, well put. The CGI moments are my only issue i think. I was told that theres a CGI daniel craig head on a stuny double. i need to watch it again to make my mind up about it .

They have to do this. Cameras record in such high definition now that it's really easy to see doubles. All movies do it.

The only time I rolled my eyes with regards to CGI was when the helicopters turned up at Silva's island. I don't really see the need to CGI helicopters.

I guess that's debatable. I don't remember noticing it was CGI, in fact I now have to take your word for it because I'm still not entirely convinced. I will be giving the film a third viewing this Sunday and I will pay closer attention to it.

The only reason I noticed was because I had been debating about the use of CGI choppers in The Expendables 2 a couple of days before. It sort of stuck out to me because of that.

    One question regarding Silva's motive:

He lets himself get captured. Why? So he can save money on a planeticket to England?

If he just wanted M dead, why go through all the hassle?

i mean the begining when he is shot. The opening sequence. It doesnt show how he was saved.???
As someone pointed out on another thread, because he got shot in the shoulder, if you're eye caught that, then you can presume his wounds weren't super-serious,so he was able to pull himself together and get himself to safety.

What game is Bond playing in the casino?

This is why I have a massive issue with the film.

He risks everything he's worked for so why not just turn up at her home and do the deed there. Unless he was so desperate to destroy/discredit her and MI6 first then maybe that would explain it.

Personally I just didn't take to Silva. The sequence on his island was overblown and quite cringeworthy, it was very Moore/Brosnan especially when the helicopters arrived.

Why did the bother with a Bond girl?? She was totally superfluous to the film and only seemed to serve as shag material for Bond. Again more akin to a Moore flick.

I thought it was because he wante dto play a game with them. Instead of just goin in and killin M. He watned to be captured. He had a set focus which is different and i like that

It was all clearly explained in the movie. She wanted to meet M and look into her eyes one more time.

Again he could have just broken into her house to achieve this.

Because that would of been rubbish and no one would of watched it, to follow that argument, why didn't any of the previous 22 bad guys just shoot Bond in the head as soon as they knew who he was rather than explaining their entire master plan to him and devising some fiendishly clever and inventive method of killing him which he can inevitably escape from and save the day. It's supposed to be dramatic not sensible.
  • Silva was a showman. He does a lot of pointless things, but he's damn fantastic.

Yeah, I'd like to know that
  • Was Bond shot twice during the PTS? I thought he got shot in the shoulder by Eve but then when he cuts the shrapnel out they identify it as Patrice's bullet. The opening titles made a big deal about the shoulder wound but where was he shot by Eve?

He is shot at by Patrice when he is in the cab of the digger, but it isn't a direct hit, he just gets hit by shards of the bullet. You'll see after this and for the rest of the PTS he is bleeding from that wound. Eve then hits him right next to that wound.

  • Couple of continuity errors I noticed. Firstly when M and Mallory are in the office and Mallory delivers the line '3 month s ago you lost the disk containing the names of the agents' M has a bag beside her seat. When she storms out she doesn't pick up the bag, yet the bag is no longer next to the chair?

Secondly, when Bond is doing pull ups during his fitness test his legs are tied together with tape, yet when he drops to the ground his legs are separated.

Anyone got any more? This might be worthy if a separate thread if not already set up.

When Bond and M arrive at Skyfall, the chapel is very close to the manor house.

But when M and Kincade escape through the priesthole and exit on the moor the chapel is much, much farther away.

its a bit of a plot hole, thats my only issue. i would like to have known how he was saved. maby the producers dont even know lol

I am presuming it was the bond girl at the begining. when he was on the bed. some parts just felt a bit of a flash, they happend so quickly.

Maybe it would be a good opportunity for a slightly longer "Director's cut". I don't the feel the film to be overlong so would be happy with a version with a running time nearer 170 mins or so

Were they? I just assumed they were crossed.

I have a question about Silva's helicopter at the end. What did the symbol on it mean, the black and red triangle?

Guess no one else wonders. So I have to ask:

    What happened to the harddisk?

how about dench already having a moneypenny in goldeneye to die another day then now mallory having a new money penny but she would be the original moneypenny.
dont get too caught up in it and just enjoy the film in itself I guess.

    By the way.
Gareth Mallory M is going to rock "dont cock it up"
  • To those on about it linking back to Dr No in an almost prequel like way, how is Judi Dench's M going to die, get replaced by Ralph Fiennes who somehow morphs into Bernard Lee who after many missions is replaced by Judi Dench's reanimated corpse? :L Along with what @oo7 stated, I hope Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw come back for Bond 24 and onwards, perfect casting.
  • Also noticed that ': L' somehow comes out as a frown on this forum when intended as a laughing face. Better get used to that one.

I want to know this too. It wasn't addressed at all in the final scenes.

I doubt this is deliberate referencing, but I also noticed Mallory poured M a cognac when she went to his office. In Goldeneye, Bond is offered a drink by M, and he says tro her that her predeccessors kept a fine bottle of cognac in his drawer.

  • What pills were Bond on? Were they just strong painkillers or something more illegal?

Here's one: unless Alex Dimitrios owned a retro-gadgeted Aston Martin DB5... why the hell does the DB5 have an ejector seat and machine-guns? It's clearly meant to be the DB5 from Connery's era (M knows about the ejector seat) so I guess it *isn't* the car Bond won in Casino Royale. Which leads to the question, why does it exist in this movie? It's stated in Skyfall that the car is Bond's personal property, but its got 1960s MI6 gadgets in it. I guess in the Craig Bond timeline, Dimitrios *must* have put the gadgets there himself and then Bond told M all about it. I can't think of another explanation! Apart from someone suggesting I "zip it".
