I thought he said 'Not bad.'
It's a cool opening sequence, and the opening shot was good but a proper old school GB would've been better imo. Sitting in the cinema with the white dots rolling across the screen is something I've missed over the last few years. And it's not just that it's at the end, I didn't like the design either.
I'll give SF credit though, it did make sense at the end. Unfortunetly now it's completely ruined the point of the QOS GB being at the end.
My question isn't about that though, it's whether Silva is supposed to be saying "pan" or "plan".
Here's the clip to reference:
He said, "not bad, not bad James...for a Physical wreck."
The komodo dragon, nice nod to Rogers Bond (LALD), specially at the beginning with the cuff adjustment. Good wrk with the gadgets on the DB5 ahhhh badly want it on DVD now! Good news is work on Bond 24 has started.
Also does anyone know what the file said at the end. The file that M (Mallory) chucks at Bond?
Thanks Murdock! Now it makes sense. I would have never understood what he was saying if you and JWESTBROOK didn't help me with it.
Yeah, the whole "I'm Eve. Eve Moneypenny felt like TDKR's
Could someone please explain how a MI6 field agent in Istanbul ended up with a list of undercover NATO agents on his computer hard drive. I mean . . . this is the plot arc that set the movie in motion. What was he doing with it and why did the script fail to explain this?
As for "SKYFALL" . . . IMO, it is one of the worst Bond movies I have ever seen. I believe that both "CASINO ROYALE" and "QUANTUM OF SOLACE" are much better.
@DRush76, it's a sort of macguffin; it definitely pushes the story along, but we just aren't supposed to question why it's there. Perhaps there was a meeting in Turkey that involved this computer drive and they left it with these agents to take back to London or something? Who knows.
The only scene I might have a problem with is when Silva makes his escape wearing jail coveralls. None of the personnel noticed it?
This is indeed a clever nod http://jibridgland.blogspot.de/2012/11/that-stolen-modigliani-painting-in.html
@sirseanisbond, it was a "50-year old MacAllan". It is thought to be a nod to the 50th Bond anniversary, I would think. Note that for single malt Whiskys 50-years old would in fact mean that it was stored in a cask for 50 years before it was bottled, which means it might have been distilled before 1962, like this VERY expensive one:

Wow, thanks for that. Me thinks SKYFALL needs a closer look. Top work.
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."
Macallan - a fine, fine Whisky.

Great scene, it works on so many levels. It explores the relevance of mi6, the empire, and its revelance today. But at the same time it, for me, it serves as the scene in which Bond is 'resurrected', he may not be as relevant as he once was, and he may be slightly scuffed-up, but sometimes you need a hero.
do you think Silva wanted to be captured by the mi6? I think that he had prevised or anticipated the posibilty of being arrested by Bond, but he had many other options to attack M in mind.
Y'know, why do people keep asking the particular question of "where'd the hard drive go?" when this is a quite obvious answer.
I'll admit, maybe one little line from M or Tanner could of settled it but that was what I assumed when I first saw it. Don't know why everybody is making a huge deal out of it
Somewhere outside Chine i suppose, even though the real island is outside Japan.
Well, the man had been planning this for decades, so he probably had 50+ plans ready for what he wanted to do. And, despite his death, the man succeeded.
How did you come to the conclusion that the list of NATO agents originally came from Silva's island? Did the movie state this?
