Silva's island what a creepy place too.
Loved the pts, all the london bits, Bond and Patrice fighting, loved the way Deakins shot this, the casino sequence was old Bondian cool.
Silva's intro and scotland as well as the very end on the roof and in the office.
I've seen it twice now and still not got an outright standout, so many good bits and no bad, even CR had problems, Miami etc but SF was on the nose for me. Seeing it for the last time on Saturday and then I'll do my review.
Please, tell me you're joking.
Yeah, when an important moment depends upon two men fighting in silhouette and you're supposed to be rooting for one of them but cannot tell which he is because photographing the shadows in front of the pretty skyscraper is more appealing, you've certainly lost the point.
The PTS is great because it's classic Bond, but with higher stakes.
The early London scenes with Bond coming back from the dead and taking the tests has some of the best, most dramatic dialogue in the movie.
The Shanghai/Macau stuff is gorgeous to look at and perfectly athmospheric for Bond.
The Island scene has Silva's introduction. Nuff said.
The London Underground/courtroom hearing has unbelievable tension and is perhaps the best edited scene in the film
The DB5/intro to Scotland is a wonderful payoff and more stunning photography.
And the climax is as dramatically powerful as you could possibly want.
Like I said, it's hard to choose a favorite in such an overall strong movie.
3) Shanghai (0.44-0.54)
7) Enquiry + DB5 heading to Scotland (1.37-1.52)
8) Skyfall attack (1.53-2.16)
Those stood really out.
I love the swiming in Shanghai, the silence Bond enjoys while waiting for further instructions, him following Patrice in the elevator and the fantastic, artistic fight scene with Patrice. That was probably my absolute favourite part.
Equally, I love the Tennyson scene, it really amazed me and the reveal of the DB5 got my fan heart pumping.
The Skyfall is brilliant as it finds the absolute right tone and pace. Bond breaking through the ice with one of Silvas men and killing him underwater was also stuck with me after the cinema. I felt like reading Fleming in that scene.
But as soon as I start thinking more about the other options, it gets more more difficult...
I loved that whole sequence. M quoting Tennyson gave me goosebumps. I love how we had most of the MI6 regulars in one room all taking part in the action. The suspense leading up to Silva bursting in was terrific. I really thought M was about to die at that point. The reveal of the DB5 was terrific... That whole act was just a fanboys dream!
2 Mostly because of the part with Q.
3 Shanghai was awesome and I love the look of it.
7 mostly because I like how Bond and M were more like a mother and son in this scene. It's also the last real talk they get to have with eachother.
8 Loved seeing Bond's DB5 have the meachine guns. We finally get the full MI6 team back (M, Q, and Moneypenny).
I can not find any other words to capture the act quite as excellent as you just did. My compliments and complete agreement are yours sir.
Have to agree with this. The film is spectacularly well paced and theres not a scene I find dull or uninteresting.
Even my favourites like OHMSS (the stuff at Dracos birthday), CR (some of the Miami stuff) and TLD (the stuff with Kamran Shah before the final battle) have parts I find a bit slow but the 2h 20 mins just flys by and its just a tragedy that those 10 mins that were cut couldnt be left in.
TDKR had plenty of lulls and you felt its length but SF rattles through its running time.
Macao
Shanghai
Skyfall
I said earlier in the thread that I liked the jellyfish hollogram but the Tennyson scene and the DB5 have to be my favourite parts of the film.
Along with the rest of the audience I cheered when I saw it for the first time.
