I wonder what President Ford would have done?
As someone who was raised a catholic and undertook religious studies until 15 I don't need to be lectured. I made my own choices after being brought up in a progressive society where critical thinking is more important than wholesale acceptance of something as rationally plausible as the Lord of the Rings.
Be that as it may, I need hardly remind you that Christianity is the widest spreading religion with more followers than any other, and certainly the most influence. It's not like I'm pulling all of this out of a hat just to spark an argument for my own good fun. Millions of other people would say the same thing I am saying.
Yeah, and they'd all be wrong too. Religion is the worst thing ever to have happened to mankind...
Just because that you're a christian doesen't mean that one's opinions need to be to a extreme in all kinds of way.
Just let everyone marry whoever they want and let people do abortion if they want to, everything is up to one's own opinions and values!
*that said I sincerely hope you didn't vote for Romney just because he's the same religion as you...
That was the intent, but unfortunately, you can't state facts around here without being quickly bombarded by the anti-religion police, even if it deals with the topic on hand. Oh well.
Religion is not fact. It's a belief system. Belief and fact are two different things.
Sports and politics? I don't see how those two come together in any way.
Depends on what religion you're talking about. And there's more than enough proof to turn belief into fact.
And you're going to present this proof... when? No religion is fact, as I said before, it is a belief system. All of them are belief systems. They were invented by humans as a way to explain the unexplainable, Christianity, Catholicism, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and all others just exist to split people into camps, so that one group can decide they're better than another simply because they believe this or believe that. Just like politics, in fact.
Can you disprove Genesis 1:1? If so, I'd love to hear that one.
Only when you start giving me proof that it's true. Also, my Bible's not in the room, can you please remind me what it is?
Well it happened today during one of their shows...that had interviews with both candidates....it was ridiculous! All I was trying to do was see highlights from the Eagles/Saints game.
Outrageous.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth." First verse of the Bible, incredibly simple, and quite frankly, makes life tons easier not having to think of all this "who am I?" or "where did I come from?" or "what is life" that so many people attempt to find answers for.
@Master_Dahark: What? How is that relevant at all?
The Big Bang. Seems pretty simple to me.
In a slightly more explanatory way, we've either already discovered the particles left over from the Big Bang, or we've discovered what we think are the particles left over from the Big Bang, one or the other. Plus, what's wrong with trying to find the answers? Are you trying to say that thinking is overrated, and we should just believe the Bible because we're stupid?
Here's some more- my poor cat has no idea what's going on
I hope when the winner is announced we'll all shake hands (in forum terms) and hope that whoever is elected does a good job
Believe the Bible because it is ten thousand more times logical than any explosion! There's no kind of explosion that can create an entire universe, all plants, minerals, animals, the sun, the moon, and PEOPLE for goodness sake! Humans are entirely too complex for any random explosion to create. If there's nothing at all before this "Big Bang", then where did the matter from the explosion come from? It's absurd. You don't need to find any answers, because they've already been found in The Word. You don't have to believe me, that's just what I know.
I'm quite certain a cosmic storm makes ten thousand times more sense than voice from the sky.
So, I guess you come from one of those places that refuses to teach evolution.
I pose the same question to you: Where did God come from? The Big Bang was an explosion in which matter and anti-matter collided, thereby creating what we call the universe. It didn't "come from" anywhere, it was already there and simply changed form. Law of Conservation of Mass - "matter cannot be created or destroyed, and simply changes form".
I didn't find those answers. I make my decisions, I decide what I believe. What you're telling me is that I should just defer to the people who wrote the words that make up that book that you put so far above the human beings right beside you simply because the "answers" are already there. The Bible gives no answers, it just gives words. Words no different than those that I'm typing in this post. I'm not demanding that somebody just worship me simply because I have the ability to put words down (if you do so, that is your choice, but know this: I cannot perform miracles).
I sadly fear the worst. (Legend ref)
Oh, Lord, does that anger me.
Just sayin'. b-(
