Be absorbed in to the world the movie makers have created.
So as with even older films,I can accept, a car with an ejector
Seat, or can transform into a submarine ! :D
I actually thought it was a one off movie which could potentially become a series of movies but it's good to know there could be more movies. I think it's an excellent time and year for fans of the spy genre. That list of movies you made that are to be released should keep us very entertained.
Come see the new "Autin Powers for the 21st Century"
Kingsman can and will parody the Bond franchise like no other. It will leave Austin Powers, Get Smart, etc with their drawers flapping in the wind.
Lets just hope this doesn't destroy the good will and love that Craig and EON has brought to Bond since 2006.
They will claim to lampoon the spy craze of the 60's and the Moore Bonds but lets face it, most people are going to associate this dreck with our beloved spy.
QOS and CR made. Only my opinion of course but I don't think the producers
Of the most successful series of films including the most successful British
Film made, have much to worry about! :)
I doubt it will. It looks more like a combination of Austin Powers and The Avengers (1998)
Yesterday I was re-watching "Casino Royale '67". It was so funny. It felt like a huge compliment to the Bond films really ;-).
It doesn't. It's very much its own thing I felt despite being *inspired* by the classic Bonds. This is a bit like Bond crossed with XM:FC and there was not a single whiff of Austin Powers/Get Smart-style juvenile parodying, Kingsman is way more pastiche. Once again, they don't lampoon the Moore Bonds, they're more inspired by them and Vaughn creates his own thing out of it.
True. Absolutely. Though in an interview last week he was selling his movie slightly bit too aggressive. He said, that "the people" are sick and tired of seriousness and realism like they saw in "The Dark Knight". Well, if that's your sole inspiration to make a movie that is build on that kind of criticism, then I find that slightly disrespectful.
That's just one of the selling points for the film though, doesn't mean it's neccesarily his sole inspiration, although this idea is something that's played with in this film, even explicitly referenced in the dialogue in a couple of scenes. And there are, as I have noted in my review, dramatically and emotionally deep moments in there too, so it's, once again, not Austin Powers style of silly at all that disrespected and ruined Bond so to say.
Also any cast and crew comments during the promotional tour are regulated/controlled to some extent by FOX (duh).
Just a little article on the suits of " Kingsman".
Well, I can only say one thing: Matthew Vaugh is a very very good salesman of this movie ;-). I remember this picture when Craig wore a double-breasted suit. And it brought about some pretty negative reactions. I think it was because of Craig's glasses:
But he can also wear it like this, in the movie "Dream House":
But people tend to forget that the double-breasted suit is already making a come-back....since 2013 I guess:
And I'm damn happy with that. Because even previous Bond actors wore the double-breasted with suaveness and style:
So, regardless of what Matthew Vaughn is doing, I do think Daniel Craig is equally a big trendsetter in fashion. I kindly advice Jany Temime to consult with Craig and ask him about what he thinks is fashionable.
Because we can't let "Kingsman" setting new standards in fashion. That's for BOND to do :-P!
And that's how fashion trends start really ;-). I remember back in 2006 that people weren't very flattered by the upcoming "slimfit craze". Normal single-breasted suits suddenly looked so "tight". But eventually it did become a standard. And even nowadays, 2015, people equally dislike loose fit suits:
I'm telling you, fashion-wise I think "Kingsman" is starting to win from "SPECTRE" at this stage :-). I'm really curious what Jany Temime has in store for us as opposed to "Kingsman".
Heck, this year 2015 truly is one hell of a "Spy Year".
I cant wait to see what Suits Craig will be wearing. He needs to llok so sharp that he redefines cutting edge.
The music score of "Kingsman" will be composed by Henry Jackman & Matthew Margeson. Henry Jackman is already a big name in Hollywood, as he composed the scores for "X-Men: First Class" and "Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier". He also did "Captain Phillips" and Disney's "Big Hero 6".
Matthew Margeson is working more on the music department as mixer, which he previously did for "Wreck-It Ralph" and "Kick-Ass".
Personally, I too do not like double breasted suits. I'm not a fan of slim fit either, especially the darn tight legs. Give me classic, tailored standard any day for Bond. It will keep the movie classic too as time passes.
With Craig's reboot of Bond as a visceral thriller franchise, it will have zero effect.
You may as well ask if it would influence Le Carre!
In a well tailored suit ! :D
Both Colin Firth and the young chap are wearing slim fit suits. They are not loose fit, not even standard fit. They are slim fit. The only difference to Craig's suits in "Skyfall" are the fact that these are double breasted compared to Craig's single breasted suits.
Now I can say this to everyone. If Colin Firth is wearing his slim fit double breasted suit on top of a train during an extended fight sequence of, let's say, 4 min's, then his suit would look like shit as well.
The problem with Craig is, that he was wearing the suits even during action sequences. I think it would have looked better if Craig was wearing a black overall...or black working clothes (like we saw in SPECTRE this week) during these action sequences.
Overall, when I saw James Bond entering M's underground office in SF, the suit looked perfect. Slim fit-perfect. Like Colin Firth in "Kingsman".
True, but I also prefer to see that Bond simply isn't wearing suits during extensive action sequences. It doesn't make too much sense to me. Seeing Bond in black outfit during the action sequence in Austria actually makes me kind of happy. That's how it should be.
Suits need to be worn for the right occassions if you ask me...
Completely agreed regarding this point. Bond in particular is a man who knows the right outfit for the right occasion. The only requirement is that he look good at all times.
I agree that he looks great in black and I'm actually quite happy he's donning that kind of attire. Also agree that he should be dressed appropriately. I love seeing him wearing a suit/dinner suit during action, but it has to feel like it was narratively unavoidable, such as his fight with Obanno. I never really understood why he'd confront White wearing a three-piece, despite the fact he looks cool as f***. I definitely want him suited for some action, it feels like a point of difference and very Bondian, but yes, it should be for good reason.
Then you don't understand Bond.
Bond irrespective of its degree of realism is supposed to be ridiculous. Bond is the epitome of the gentleman spy; so he's going to be wearing beautiful tailored suits for what may be absurd in the real world. Kingsman is going out of its way to promote that whole suave gentleman aspect made famous by Bond in the first place and the direct references to Bond in tge film underpins that fact.
tell me, what secret spy escapes wearing a jet pack and in a suit no less? Who wears a dinner suit under scuba diving gear? Who wears a dinner suit walking through a desert with not only the full suit on but with bow tie still done. As much as we'd all like to be Bond to some degree the fact is we're not. The charm of the character is the fantasy wet her you agree or disagree with those elements. Bond isn't your generic action guy. I think you and others aren't grasping the fundamental components of what an English gentleman is, which Bond is first and foremost. Bond in a suit standing around or engaged in serious action go hand in hand and should remain so. The more Bond is in a suit the better.
