What past reference would you like to see in Bond 24?

Just subtle things - the return of the '007' theme, another reference to Tracey, a glimpse of the Lotus in Q's lab, An excuse for Bond to throw a hat onto the hat stand (even though no one wears a hat these days)

    Bond opens his office drawer. Inside there is the bikini worn by Ursula Andress - "Underneath the Mango Tree" theme plays. He then pulls out Halle Berry's bikini - we hear Madonna singing "Die Another Day" - you get the idea. Several bikinis later Bond pulls out Jill St Johns' bikini. M walks in and Bond quickly has to stuff all the bikini's back into the drawer!

    Bond walks into a train, goes to his bedroom , a waiter knocks on.the door and asks him if hes in the mood for red wine and dinner, Bond replies, "No thanks old man".

    I agree the films should always be as original as possible and create new ideas but I imagine every one smiled at the end of SF when Moneypenny and the Leather doored office re appeared. That is my point about the past references topic, I don't like ones that are rammed in your face and take you out of the moment like some in DAD did but I like ones that make the film feel part of a on going series with the same character running through it.

    How about we see a "Bond car" for example the Aston Martin DBS as used in QOS and Casino Royale. Bond is at Q's workshop previewing his new gadgets where we see the car bodywork is being repaired - dents are being hammered out - and Q chastises him for his reckless driving.

    Oh, I thought you didn't want a Bond film to rely on past references and be its own film. Change your mind?

    Nothing outrageous. As I've said many times, I want to see a portrait of Fleming on the wall of M's office. Letting it be seen for 1-2 seconds in the background while Bond and M converse would be perfect.

    Perhaps the Bond anthology on the bookshelf, just behind M. Only if you look close, no obvious zoom tricks.

    I'd like to see a nod to Cubby, like in DAF. Burt Saxby had a name plate titled "Albert R. Saxby. Or maybe a nod to MGW or Babs would be nice. :)

    Perhaps in a future bond film Bond visits Turkey again, and he says to his Felix Leiter ,"It's been years since I spent a Christmas night in Turkey, literally. "

    try this one,

    Bond is walking with Felix just chatting in downtown London, Bond steps in a puddle and gets his pants wet. Felix says"Look like you've caught yourself a jinx. " Bond replies, " Oh no Felix, Iv'e had a jinx before and it felt much better than this".

    I don't like to talk about Bond 24, it's too premature after the latest one that has only just been released in theaters. One thing at a time etc, and merely concentrate on the James Bond of the present (and past) rather than looking ahead

    But, I was genuinely disappointed to see the gunbarrel, back at the end again, although I kind of knew what to expect before time. Maybe they can go back to tradition and place it at the start next time where it really belongs, but don't hold your breath on that

    I didn't even quite understand the above joke or attempt at humor, but maybe I'm just tired

    I'd like this to happen: Remember in FRWL when:

    Tatiana: "Am I as exciting as all those Western girls?"
    Bond: "Once, when I was with M in Tokyo, we had an interesting experience"?

    Well, I want to witness that experience. In fact, I'd love to see Bond in Japan again sometime soon. I don't particularly want to see M anywhere other than MI6 for a while- I'm just using the above dialogue as an example of this: instead of having a reference to a past film, a past film can give the illusion of a reference to a future film. After all, continuity is to be disregarded in the Bond realm.

    Fine example and a great piece of writing. It makes you wonder too ...also it kind of shows a male to male bonding relationship between M and Bond as if their good friends as well. That scene did bring a smile to my face.

    As for my posts above, I was merely joking and would never suggest them to be actually used.

    The subtitles must be wrong, It sounds too much like M coming from Connery's voice

    Oh, okay. It is Anne- not M. Thanks for that info. To me, it sounded like he said 'M', plus M is rather quick to turn off the equipment, leading me to think he actually got up to some mischief in Tokyo. ;) Also, several sites claim that 'M' is what is actually said. Either way, my above example still applies, and could be a different take on how references are used in the films.

    EDIT: Just did a bit of research, and it seems there are versions of FRWL with different subtitles, which can say either 'M', or 'Anne'. Weird, huh?

    I can't say... if I want a particular reference in advance, it means it would be forced in Bond 24. I felt them very natural in SF I they should be that way.
    However a nice reference can be naming the Ark Royal as Bond ship in the Royal Navy.

    Anne? That makes no sense. It was originally M (still is on my FRWL DVD), because M gives an aghast expression and races to shut off the communication with Bond. I would love to see what happened in Japan with Bond and Mallory in the place of Bond and M. I picture a scene akin to Iron Man where Tony and Rhodes are getting drinks in them while the airplane attendants are dancing on poles. The scene could have Bond and M getting some martinis while beautiful Japanese women dance around them.

    Not sure, but I've read elsewhere that the name 'Anne' is on early versions of the FRWL script, and somehow, made it onto the subtitles of particular versions.

    "Anne" makes no sense. It's M.

    M is clearly taken aback when Bond brings up this tidbit of information.

    I stand corrected, funny the things you learn. I too always thought it was M but when I saw Anne in the subtitles I was like what? so 10 years of confusion finally gone. :))
