They need to get Bond 24 out ASAP

Not saying they should rush production of B24, but strike while the iron is hot. Get the film out while Craig is still relatively young and entusiastic about the role and while audiences are responsive to SF. There's no way that Barbara and Wilson can replicate the insane phenomenon of 1963-65, but a two year cycle with solid scripts written ahead of time is doable. We may be in the midst of a so-called Bond renaissance. Logan better be working on an idea as we speak...

Apparently Logan and Mendes already have plot ideas and Sony is keen to move forward with a 2 year break.

But I could've sworn there was a thread for this.

I am convinced Mendes will direct again? But when is the question?

Didn't watch Skyfall yet but i know Mendes' potential for a second direction.

I hope he does Bond 24.

It's going to make a billion dollars. They'll get it out quick and pay Craig handsomely to stay on.

B24 is supposed to go out in 2014.

Craig is slated to make about $20 million on 'Bond 24.' He made $17 million for SF.
  • MGM, Michael, & Barbara are currently filming Bond 24. There probably back on set now since Daniel Craig is finish with his Skyfall tour. MGM said Bond 24 will be released in 2014 or 2015. (Depending on how long it takes to film the movie.

    MMMM.. no.

IF they do it for 2014, they'll start filming at the middle-end of next year AFTER a public press release.

I agree. I feel the same as you do. I want him back in Bond 24.

He will be back for Bond 24. And then he'll go on to do Bond 25 for 2016.

The script is being written right now and they have a good idea, where they wanna go with it. So I see no problem with starting end of 13. I feel, its more of a problem to get everybody enthusiastic so soon. Its very exhausting and the mind needs a rest, before it can even think of going on. Lets hope, they all manage that.

As much as I would like to see a new Director's vision, from a commercial point of view it feels like they need Mendes to return in order to maintain the momentum needed for a, like you say, tight schedule.

I'd like to see Mendes return because if he and Logan have already planned some ideas it would be best to have the director who came up with them see them through to the end, make Bond 24 one cohesive vision right from the very beginnings of drafting the script.
  • I'd like to see Mendes return but I don't see why they should get it out ASAP. Quantum of Solace struck while the iron was still hot from Casino Royale and look how that turned out... I'd happily wait 3 years for the next Bond but I don't think I can take another 4!

I'd wait 3 years for a better film without a doubt.

  • I agree, it'd be a good idea to strike while the iron is still hot, so to speak. That said, I'd be content with waiting longer to get another movie I enjoyed as much as I enjoyed this last one.

QoS was victimized by the writer's strike first and foremost. That was a film that should have waited. However, seeing as such an event isn't going to happen (hopefully) over the next 2 years, I don't see the need to wait 3 years for the next Bond outing. SF is the most successful Bond movie in over 40 years if not ever, Bond's popularity hasn't been this big since 1964/65, you have a critically acclaimed and proven writer and director already adapting a treatment and you have a strong cast in place and a leading man in Craig whom one would want to utilise to the maximum while he's still relatively young. Why wait? People want to see the next one, the series is profitable and most importantly, there's a pre-existing structured plan already in place as to where the series is heading at least for the next 2 movies.

If they do manage to push B24 out in 2014 then B25 wouldn't come a moment before 2017. The days of regular two yearly Bonds are gone.

Agreed, but I'd rather have it this way then the other way around.

I would love to see 'Bond 24' in 2014, just because of what others have said: the excitement is fresh and people are anticipating a sequel. Mendes has an idea, so stay on board to direct and carry it through with 'Bond 25,' as well, perhaps. There's a varying difference between rushing something that falls flat and making audiences wait too long to the point that the anticipation dies down severely.
