THE WET LIPS OF TRUTH
BRUSH YOUR TEETH MR BOND
Bond 24: Shortcut To warr
Bond 25: Legend To Die For
The Property of A Lady
This Man is Considered Dangerous
Given the furore surrounding the use of Quantum of Solace as title of Bond 22 do you think EON will ever use Risico? Would they consider it a case of "once bitten...."
@Dragonpol
All great of course, but the producers will select the title based on the marketing and the video game.
Risico is a name that only Bond fans recognize and will leave 90% of the cinemagoers confused; Property of a Lady is great, but has too syllables and doesn't sound right for a video game; This Man is Considered Dangerous might be confused as a remake of the 1941 movie and almost sounds like a Elmore Leonard movie with Jeff Bridges and Jennifer Lawrence. ;)
The Property of A Lady
Operation Ruthless
Bit of a cynical approach isn't it to suggest Bond titles are chosen with the video game in mind?
EON is in business not to make Bond movies, but to make money.
Both are not, and should not be, mutually exclusive. When they shot DN, they were also aiming at making money.
Not necessarily going to disagree with you there. They are after all running a business but why would they give precedence to a video game over a film when it comes to choosing the title?
In case you hadn't noticed, there hasn't been a truly successful Bond game since Everything Or Nothing in 2004. The films have made far more profit than the games in that time so your point doesn't appear to be valid.
1) Some people didn't know what 'quantum' and/or 'solace' meant, let alone the title as a whole. Risico is also known by the more-than-casual fans (I've read it translates to 'risk' in certain languages), but unlike QoS, which basically means 'amount of comfort', Eon have the freedom to make use of Risico however- be it the name of a person or operation codename etc. As long as they make it clear to the audience.
2) Some people thought Quantum of Solace didn't sound snappy enough, or just didn't roll off the tongue. I believe Risico achieves both. Plus, Eon can choose to pronounce it RISSA-co, Ra-SEE-co etc. in the film.
3) Perhaps some of the casual fans felt Bond 22's title wasn't Flemingesque enough as it didn't include cliché words such as 'live', 'die', 'gold', 'kill' etc. After Craig's first three film titles don't include these, people are less likely to expect a cliché title like DAD from now on, making the addition of Risico more welcome.
I think initially, people will welcome Risico as a title more so than QoS.
I have to say that I am in agreement on this, @WillyGalore.
Quantum Of Solace and Skyfall Generate a lot of media as title.
No problem with Risico title. There can also use No Good About Goodbye as song. = Risico. Sam Mendes returns = Risico Possible return of David Arnold = Risico Fans don't like it = Risico Others don't like it = Risico The whole upset of Dc era Bond movies = Risico. The producers take time and that's Risico and there don't whant make mistakes with Quantum real goal = Risico. There is No comfort in the sigh = Risico.
But iam also not against using Mr Kiss Kiss Bang Bang = another Risico
This time it is the quistion where the title of Bond 24 (and mabey Bond 25) is hide. QOS whas hide in trailer of Casino Royale. Skyfall whas hide in the maintitle of QOS and some nice daylight Skyfall in CR and QOS. I think The Property of a Lady stil be a option too, but then ealier Risico fit better for Bond 25.
Not for me. I also don't think 'Property of a Lady' is strong enough. I think it's a bit of a fanboy wet dream that just wouldn't have the gravitas or pull for the general audience. Anyhow it's been referenced in OP and done well, hanging a film around it seems pointless to me. Risico on the other hand is perfect. It's strong and intriguing. It's also much more malleable and would likely not feel shoe-horned in. Fleming references aside, I'm happy for them to go with an original and I'm pretty positive they will.
Property Of A Lady would be a bit better (would've been suited to QOS imo) but I'm still not a huge fan of it.
Risico would be great, although Shatterhand is my favourite suggestion. We haven't had a villains name as a title for ages and it's a strong, one word title that's memorable, snappy and that's reminiscent of the 60s films.
I always thought that if 'Risico' were to be used, it would be the name of the villain.
I always thought Colonel Moon was a little nod. It could be pure coincidence however.
And then is also the astrological dichotomy with 'Sun' and 'Moon', which could be a hint that the naming was more deliberate than not.
If my son wrote a script involving the word "wind", it would be entitled "Breaking Wind" :))
- "The Ace of Heart"
- "Letters for a Lady-Killer"
- "Double 'O Tolerance"
- "Pandora Gold"
I'm having fun with my titles
