    Glad that you found it interesting, @ggl007. To be honest, I was meaning to reply to that thread of yours that I always took The Spy Who Loved Me film title to mean James Bond and "The Spy" (i.e Russian KGB agent Major Anya Amasova) "who loved" him, not the other way around as it was in the original novel. It is indeed correct that Cubby Broccoli did stipulate that "The Spy" in question in the title should refer to the Russian agent and not Bond, so that should be the definite answer to your thread I think, coming as it does from the horse's mouth.

    And perhaps that's the reason why in Spain the film is titled "La Espía que me amó" (female spy)... :-? Not sure, but who knows?

    Interesting, could be, yes. I mean it comes from the horse's mouth (i.e. that of Cubby Broccoli) so I think we can take it as accurate. Case closed on that one methinks.

    Very glad to see you've updated your blog @Dragonpol! I really enjoyed reading the article. I think that Burgess was trying to deliver a screenplay that was closer in line with what Cubby wanted then what he himself felt a Bond film should be like. However, I do find it hypocritical that he would later criticize the films for moving farther away from Fleming. Perhaps some hurt feelings that his screenplay was not chosen had something to do with this?

    Thank you; glad you enjoyed it. There is more on the way soon. Yes, that could be another explanation for what I call Burgess's "double standards" in the paper. I intend to write a longer paper that is more in-depth at later date entitled Anthony Burgess and the James Bond Phenomenon.

    I've decided to remove the very long list of papers posted throughout this thread on my blog as I thought it was a little silly to pontificate on paper titles that had not yet seen the light of day on the blog and I know my limitations as a writer and more generally as a human being enough to know that some of them never will! I will only post here from now on when a new paper is posted on the blog. The list was counterproductive I found and I was putting too much pressure on myself to write things up by a self-imposed deadline. I realise that writing should be fun and not a chore, so hence the removal of said paper titles lists. b-(

    Now all of that said I do of course want to focus more on the blog and writing than I perhaps gave up to this point. I have started quite a number of papers over the years but I need to focus now on getting them finished and onto the blog, which as with everything in life is easier said than done when work, sleep and leisure time is deducted from time for writing. This is just an explanatory post to fill you all in on the current situation and I hope to see some new papers on various Bond topics posted over the summer months.

    All that remains now for me to say is thank you all very much for your kindness and loyalty in supporting my blog over the last two years (it was established in May 2012) and that your faith in me shall be rewarded this summer with new papers appearing very soon.
