If John Logan brings back Blofeld, does that mean he will bring back Quantum or use spectre again?

That is the question, but it starts with a big if and is thus very speculative. Both are not mutually exclusive: in the novels Blofeld had networks before SPECTRE, prototypes of SPECTRE if you will, and it is debatable whether or not SPECTRE survived the events of TB. So in the movies, say Bond 24 for argument's sake, Quantum could be active, Bond could put an end to it, then one of its surviving leaders, or maybe the leader, would move out to create a new organisation. The way, in the novels, Blofeld accepted people from the disbanded SMERSH, Gestapo, etc.

All the folks harping on the frequency of the Italian locations, remember early and mid Bonds use the Bahamas a lot. Italy is kind of Craig's Jamaica.

The Bahamas have been used three times (disregarding underwater scenes in films such as FYEO that were shot in The Bahamas), and widely spaced apart at that.
Dr No Thunderball Live and Let Die ..underwater for Spy too. And oh yeah CR... anyway that was my point. Its not a big deal.

What? The Bahamas was an in-film location in Thunderball, Licence to Kill and Casino Royale.

I said I'm disregarding films where it was just used for filming, because it is only for underwater scenes.

The Bahamas aren't featured at all in Dr No and Live and Let Die, that's Jamaica.

There is a 24 year gap between TB and LTK, and a 17 year gap between LTK and CR.

    So there is no comparison.

    ....you need to chill.

  • I don't know how they are going to have a car chase in Rome, the streets are really narrow.

there are a lot of wide Streets in Rome (Via Nazionale is just one example)...and a lot of narrow ones.
If its true that an epic car chase will be filmed there it should make for an exciting séquence especially if they also get access to have the chase take in a few piazzas aswell. Imagine Bond chasing the villains through the Piazza Del Popolo for example in the Aston.

    Just pointing it out ;)

Because "all us folks harping on" about Rome do have a point.

There's a special SPOILER tag you might use!

Just like you'd use a quote tag, you wrap what you want to say in them and people have to choose to reveal the spoiler.
    Bond is a woman.

There's a little question mark icon set of formatting options (first on the right) that inserts the tags for you. You can even put images in them.
  • @MI6 sorry about that, I just figured everyone knew, I'll remember next time.

@xJamesBond007x, I don't think that needed a spoiler tag. It is being discussed on many threads already, has been mentioned in an MI6 article, and does not spoil the plot. It has been brought up as part of production, crew, etc.

I think MI6 was telling all of us the information about spoiler tags because we were discussing how to make this thread (and others) spoiler free. I doubt the comment was directed to your comment.
  • @4EverBonded oh oops lol, I thought it was directed at me, I was a bit uncertain at first, anyways thanks mate.

That's understandable the way it was written right after your post. ;)
But no worries, I think it was given just as good for everybody to be aware of. We are now in serious SPOILER territory for Bond 24 and it will soon snowball! Exciting times ahead, though.

No intention to be scolding anyone. I just wanted to be sure you're all comfortable with the spoiler functionality before the big news starts breaking.

Sorry, but since the search function doesn't work, I post this here. In case anybody is interested in the latest pics. From some pics, we can see, that the hair is still not cut at this point. Good news as far as I am concerned.

It looks like regardless the nationality of the girl who will be cast the character will be of Scandinavian origin. Can we almost say that is the case now?

As for the girl, I've seen her a couple of times on Swedish television and she sure have a lots of charm!

So, when he will again play a role in one of Spielberg's films? Since they're pals and all. Anyway, keep that cut. Even with the cap on you look like Bond should B-)

Steven Spielberg is one of the best directors to never direct a Bond film. Back in the 70's and 80's he made the Indy films instead and took all the energy and enthusiasm he had for 007 and put it into 'Raiders of the Lost Ark'. I bet Cubby kicked himself when he saw that film and realised how creative a filmmaker Spielberg was. One of the things I love about Spielberg is how well he can string together a great action sequence. I'm not a big fan of his more 'serious' films, but as an entertainment filmmaker there is really no one better.

Bond in the 80's was becoming slack and stodgy and someone with like Spielberg could have given the thing a real jolt of energy. Instead we got John Glen, sigh.

In other news, how great does Rachel look! I like her hair, I really hope she stars opposite Craig in something soon, hopefully a Bond film.

Can we be sure the character will be Scandinavian? I'd love it if it was true, but do we have any evidence?

Only that eight Scandinavian actresses have been screentested. That to me, signals where this character will be from.
  • It could be also a far more down-to-earth reason : some sponsor in the movie hopes to target the Scandinavian market, and wants a Scandinavian person for the promotion duties there.

Here's an interesting transcript, with Lucas, Spielberg and Kasdan discussing 'Raiders..." (my favorite action movie of all time)

And yes, they are discussing James Bond, too.

Bond is huge enough as he is in the Scandinavian market. There will at least be some Scandinavian connection in Bond 24.

The Scandinavian market is too small for a sponsor asking for this, I would guess. I think that the script indeed asks for a Scandinavian actress looking the part of a Swedish/Norwegian/Danish or even Finnish girl (or two?). It would thus help if the actress is Scandinavian, especially if it is to brush up 007's Danish, of course.

It's still a part of the world where there are quite some market shares to steal from Nokia, for instance, and well there is no such thing as a "too small market" these days :) I'm not claiming it is the sole explanation, but if it is for the part of a "brief love interest" I'm not sure the background of the actress is so important.

Or maybe Scandinavian actress are super cheap (EON first proposed to Sophie Marceau less than what she would earn for an average French movie, her agent once said) :)

Patrice is played by Ola Rapace, a Scandinavian actor. Nothing much related to the character.

Finland is not considered part of Scandinavia.

It may only mean they want a certain type of beauty more easily found in Scandinavia. The Bond girl may be played by a Scandinavian, but the character may be Russian for all we know. Or Austrian.

What you all think of the Daniel Radcliff Bond 24 rumors?

Unfounded. The actor said he'd love to play a villain, but even he admits he doesn't quite fit the role at the moment.

I want to be in a Bond film. Does that mean that I, too, am rumored to be in it?

    Yes, as of now ;)
