    Maybe Léa Seydoux is the main Bond girl?

    She isn't. We have known it for a long time that the Scandinavian Bond girl (now changed to French) is the secondary one. The main Bond girl will be British.

    Oh, this is not exact science, but from the past movies, there is a certain trend. Heck, even in DAD (shudder), the moment Miranda Frost appears, Zao's importance diminishes and he goes in a whimper. Léa Seydoux could play an ambiguous Bond girl, torn between good and evil, which would bring her downfall. Anyway, so far it is entirely speculative.

    Would be strange, but not unheard of, if the main villain and girl are not already cast.

    I definitely think they've casted the villain. Seeing as the conference should be due around the end of November or the first few days of December and the negociations the actors and main crew have to go through with character development, script, locations, I really don't think they would cast them a few weeks before this conference. [Just to add I may be wrong about the conference but it is usually around a week or few days before filming starts]

    I kinda like @PanchitoPistoles remark. It would be quite awesome if we have a Rosa Klebb/Red Grant-esque "villainous duo". I wouldn't be surprised of Craig/Mendes got inspired by FRWL and OHMSS for Bond 24 ;-). So which female villain could team up with Dave Bautista?
    --> Tilda Swinton? As visually striking as Grace Jones back in 1985. Already worked with Lea Seydoux and Ralph Fiennes on "The Grand Budapest Hotel".
    --> Marion Cotillard? Muse of director Christopher Nolan. Played the Elektra King-esque villain in "The Dark Knight Rises".
    --> Keira Knightley? Now cast as the wife of Jack Ryan in the American spy franchise "Jack Ryan". "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" was a moderate success.
    --> Meryl Streep? Famed character actress. Doesn't shy away of appearing in a commercial blockbuster ("The Devil Wears Prada"). Also terrific in "Doubt".
    --> Rachel Weisz? Girlfriend of Daniel Craig. Also doesn't shy away for spy movies ("The Bourne Legacy") and played a terrific villain in "Oz The Great And The Powerful".
    --> Helen Mirren? Already played a British female spy in the new "Red"-franchise, together with Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich.

    Also, don't underestimate the "brand recognition" of director Sam Mendes. I think most of the above actresses haven't worked with Mendes yet, and Hollywood loves Mendes. Like with Javier Bardem, it could help in casting such an actress. And, like with Javier Bardem, the screenplay could be written with in mind a certain actress....like the screenplay is 'molded' around a certain actor/actress.

    I....I really love @PanchitoPistoles idea!

    To follow up my latest post.....don't forget that Dame Helen Mirren herself said, during the red carpet premiere of "Red 2", that she would love to play a Bond villain. That news was even featured on our own beloved MI6-HQ-website :-):

    I find it baffling that there haven't been any rumors about the main villain and the main Bond girl for months. I think it's safe to say that they haven't screentested a lot of actors and actresses for these roles like they did in the case of the secondary Bond girl.

    I don't really @PanchitoPistoles :-). It can't be always "fun and games". The producers certainly don't think "Ooowh my, we need to leak another acator, otherwise the Bond fans start terrorising our offices in Pinewood" hehe.

    Sometimes, like it was the case with Javier Bardem, a lot of screentests are simply not necessary. The screenplaywriters then make the role/screenplay fit around the wishes of the actor. In the case of Bardem it worked perfectly.

    Moreover, people tend to forget that certain famed Hollywood actors were really impressed by "Skyfall", especially the role of the villain. So I especially think for that role Mendes & Co. will not have had any casting problems.

    IF and that is a big if Mark Strong is cast in Bond 24 it is likely he will play a villain. If he's a good friend of Craig all the better: that would create an interesting chemistry between the two.

    Agreed

    My hope is that the quality of the script is there to attract the talent they want. I just don't want that to be the reason CE moved on if indeed he did.

    We don't even know if he was seriously considered. And it might have been the other way round: they might have thought Ejiofor was not right after all for the particular role of the villain, after the rewrites.

    Why do they keep asking him these questions?

    He's just got sour grapes because he lost out to a role he thought was going to on going and pay for his pension.

    The guy is a legend but his constant sniping about Bond just shows he's bitter about his loss.

    That pretty much sums it up for me. I wouldn't even put Q in my CV if I was John Cleese. Let alone remind people that I was in DAD.

    I admire John Cleese and what he's done, he's my favourite Monty Python member, and I also adore his Q. However, I can't help but strongly disagree with his vision of Bond. He clearly never read Fleming's novels, because he seems to have a completely wrong idea of James Bond.

    He also never bothered to watch SF... yet he says it has overlong action scenes. Apparently, he never watched DAD either.

    I read this article this morning in the metro via Zite (great app). But really....I fully agree here. John Cleese obviously hasn't seen SF yet....

    Less than 6 weeks until the press conference! I'm getting really excited. :bz Most movies don't even have a press conference at the beginning of production, I think it's great that the producers are keeping this tradition alive.

    Indeed! I have to start planning how I'll watch it in case I'm at work at the time (highly probable) :-?

    Just ask your boss to play it in the staff room via the projector. Happy employees make good employees. I am sure you'll make up for the lost time.

    Hi. I'm new to the forum. So do you think that the press conference will be held on December 6th or before? I know that Skyfall's press conference was held the first day of shooting.

    I believe it was confirmed for between late November and December 6. The script rehearsal is in late November. So, it will be around that time for sure

    That will be the case with "Bond 24" as well @Jake24 :-). December 6th will be the date of the official kick-off press conference, so officially it'll be also the very first day of shooting. If I remember correctly, back in 2011 the kick-off press conference was one month earlier, November 3rd 2011. The actors then also received their call sheets and shooting schedules. Funnily enough, journalists never ask about these kind of things....

    So far it seems that both EON Productions and SONY/MGM manage to keep the production of Bond 24 in more secrecy than back in 2011 during pre-production of "Skyfall". Back in August/September the title "Skyfall" was already more or less leaked by checking domain registrations via MarkMonitor. Also Javier Bardem was quite early confirmed as the lead villain.

    Is it just me or do the locations picked for Bond 24 so far are more historical and/or lack modern flare. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with the locations (Austria, Rome, Morocco, etc.), I just feel that every Bond movie should have a balance of these type of locations (eg. Shanghai as opposed to Istanbul in Skyfall).

Shanghai as opposed to Turkey in Skyfall).

    I think there's also a practical and financial aspect to opt for filming in Europe. There's less bureaucracy in countries like Austria. Filming permits are being given out somewhat faster. And on top of that you don't have expensive travelling costs, like those for South Africa and India (Skyfall). Eventually these locations were not chosen, due to problems with shooting permits. And then you've already spent quite a lot of money on location scouting.

    For me personally, I think, since CR and CR, it's also about cinematography...how the locations are being shot on film. I loved the rather moody, darker, rainy atmosphere in Skyfall. And although many locations were doubled, it really worked.

    Be prepared for an even "colder" experience in Bond 24 ;-). Although I think a wintery film can be made very "warm" and "romantic" too, like cinematographer Michael Reed did with OHMSS.

    Personally, I think it's a bit of an "empty" choice if we need to have a non-European exotic location, because it's part of the formula. It really depends on the screenplay too. It has to make sense. Also, as I was very astonished by the wunderful CGI-effects in Skyfall, similar things can be done with Bond 24 too.

    I was also very impressed with the CGI in Skyfall and I only recently learned of the Komodo dragon being complete CGI (which kind of makes sense, considering how dangerous they are). So relating back to the title, has anyone done some research to see if any domain names have been leaked?

    Yes, I did actually. See page 142 of this topic :-). But....someone really has to come up first with a rumoured title....leak the title, before you can do a proper research via MarkMonitor. And that's still not the case.

    One thing you basically can rule out, based on my little reasearch, is that the four last remaning Fleming titles will not be used. So it won't be:
    --> "Risico"
    --> "The Property Of A Lady"
    --> "The Hildebrand Rarity", and
    --> "007 In New York"

    It is possible to find the registered domains of Sony for 2014, but if you want to do that you need to be a paid subscriber to a domain check-up website. No Bond fan in here has offered to do that yet. Apparently, the desire to get to know the title is not thát high :-P.

    I think we'll have to wait until at least one month before the press conference to see a leaked title (as with the case of Skyfall). Skyfall's press conference was held on November 3rd and the domains for Skyfall were registered on October 3rd.

    Not exactly. The first domain registration for "Skyfall" was leaked in early August 2011. Then later, in September/October.....someone did a proper research and looked up all variations for "Skyfall". In any case.....EON this time certainly know how to keep things secret :S

    Oh, really? I hadn't realized it was that early. Well I guess the producers have learned from their mistakes in terms of secrecy surrounding the title.
