Wait so if Mr. White is brought back, would that mean that CR, QoS, SF, and SP all take place in the same timeline?

Absolutely. Earlier I already said that CR-QOS-SF-SP could turn out as a skillfully written movie quadrilogy ;-).

That would be incredible, definitely. I hope that's the case. SP would have to tie it all together then :)

Forgive me for saying Monica Belucci is "long in the tooth" at 50 she is still smoking hot. However...
good to see Q, Tanner, Moneypenny and Mallory all return with the same actors who played in SF.
Looks like no Blofeld, eh? Perhaps he will just be behind the scenes like he was in the early Connery films...

And if that's the case, then B25 can be "Shatterhand," with Bond chasing down Blofeld to get his revenge. Seems to reason that this could have been the 2-film arc that Logan first pitched to EON.
Of course then you would have Skyfall - Spectre - Shatterhand -- you could've have made alot of money in Vegas a few years back betting on 3 consecutive one-word titles starting with "S"

I very much like this idea. You could be on to something, ie Bond going after Blofeld as Shatterhand.
Today's announcement, is the best Bond news I've had since, well, since this whole era started in 2005.
The title is double-plus perfect. When @slyfox first floated this idea, I thought, by jove he's got it.
It fit perfectly with what we were hearing. And fit perfectly in a re-boot scenario. Such a title would have made no sense in the original timeline.
I only got-on Slyfox, when he started doubting himself and downplaying his source, but as it turns out his info was gold.
So big thank you to @slyfox for getting this item out there early for us fans. Great work!
Mendes, btw, seemed quite pleased that they had kept a lid on the title this time, but that was only via mainstream media. The message boards still managed to dig it out a few days in advance.

So we have awesome title, and very pleased to see that the Bellucci and Scott leaks turned out to be sound.
One of the principles( I've watched so many interviews, I can't quite remember who said what) did say that the title does reference the legendary Fleming-originated organization, and then mentioned something along the lines of, "and everything that might suggest" - meaning the return of Blofeld.
No one in the cast can mention the name Blofeld, which means there will be a reveal along the way
Thus, I am still very much convinced that Waltz will turn out to be Blofeld. Not only does it fit, but also because he's behaving exactly the way you'd expect him to behave if he was Blofeld, but couldn't say. His Oberhauser will morph into Blofeld. Not saying I know, but I believe this to be be true.

Seydoux could not have looked better. Bellucci was stunning as usual. She'll look great when she's 70 too.
This is a smashing one-two Bond girl punch. Both, I think will play sympathetic characters. I don't think either is villain, especially not Seydoux. She is some sort of spy ally; English it seems.
And don't forget in most Bond films, the two main girls usually both turn out good or at least on Bond's side eg, Pussy, Anders, Severine.
There really haven't been that many femme fatales in the series. We haven't had any in the Craig-era, other than Le Chiffre's murderous gf, Ivanka in CR.

The plot does seem intriguing. Very interesting even. The SF plot bored the hell out of me, because it was all about Bond and M character development drama.
Here, at worst, Bond will discover something about his past, but that's OK, the key is that Bond be the Bond we knew, pre Craig-era drama, and to that point, Craig I think has reassured us.
He did say today that he wanted to build on what was teased at end of SF, or words to that effect. I think he likes the little Mi6 team that came together in SF, and that he wants to go forward as 007 with this group.
So off they go, to unravel the mystery and the threat that is Spectre.
Spectre of course will have some connection with Quantum. Bringing back White- great stuff- ties up that loose end, so we do have continuity with QoS, and possible some connection with the SF storyline, although I can't imagine what.

This is an exceptionally strong supporting cast behind Craig, of Waltz, Seydoux, Bellucci, Bautista and Scott.
We have a great villain, classic henchmen, and two supremely exotic beauties as Bond girl-women. Superb! Plus a great actor like Scott as bonus.
I think, all of Waltz, Seydoux and Bellucci are going to hit this one out of the park, especially with a steady hand such as Mendes guiding them.

Craig hopefully, can relax and enjoy being Bond. He's got a great potential story and as strong a surrounding cast of characters, as Connery ever did.
This should be Craig's best performance as Bond. It seems to be setting up that way. There's no doubt he can play a very convincing Bond - but IMO his first three films have required he deal with a lot of exhausting, bromidic drama, that I personally could have done without.

I boldly predict this will easily be the "best" of the Craig films. I have issues with all three of the preceding films, namely way too much of the aforementioned character drama, involving Bond himself, but I don't see any obvious danger signs here, looking ahead.

And as bonus, Craig has never looked better as Bond. He looks fit, strong relaxed and ready to go. Best hair he's ever had. His hair has always bee an issue, but not this time.
I'd recommend a little black dye touchup and then it might be perfect.

I do think Scott's Whitehall character, will be the one giving M and company grief, while Bond deals with the Oberhauser, Spectre, White, Quantum threat.

Great launch by Eon. They wisely dispensed with the tedious formal press conference, but salvaged everything else.

Only problem is, where the heck was MGW? Has Babs taken over completely? What's going on?!

Exactly. I think it sounds awesome, I'm glad we're having some continuity (it was about time!).
Considering that SPECTRE won't be defeated in Bond 24 *, Bond 25 will also tie-in.

*Naming the movie like the organization is very confusing

En route? You do know that Mexico City and Obertilliach are like 9500 km apart, right?

No, but perhaps he was for business in Russia :-)? And perhaps SPECTRE still masters the art of "toppling". Not bringing rockets....but instead bringing airplanes off course :-).

    Sure. Why shouldn't they?

No quadrilogy of which SF is a part of can be considered skilfully written.

Yes, QOS deserved the Oscar for "Best Original Screenplay" :-). In any case, for "Spectre" it seems they want to interconnect all events from Craig's previous three films. Somethingn that was quite impossible to do back in the 1960's.

Very excited about the Mexico shoot. Half my family lives there maybe they'll get a look at some filming going on. Whenever I'm there I really see some places that would look good on film. When I look at these grand places I imagine them being used in a movie. One of my curses.

Anyone know at what part of the production they will be in Mexico?
  • Brilliant. They nailed it. This is shaping up to be one hell of a Bond film. Thank you Eon!

Damn right Mr White needs some screen time! Well chuffed about this! He is just too good not to see out his story, so i would not want to see him killed off in the PTS thank you very much!

I've got to speak my mind on this one. "She's becoming more masculine and he's becoming more feminine", isn't this a bit frustrating? Can't we just have a straight-out Bond adventure for a change?

I think she is just trying to make her character sound intriguing. There is no denying her feminity and Craig's masculinity.
However I do empathize with your concern, but I don't think we need worry.
Craig seems to have it going on this time. I think he's ready to bust out as Bond!
And Seydoux seems like perfect Bond-girl foil.

Nice catch btw, re the ships in the M office photo, at end of SF, and yes I do think the title of the film, to some extent, is a not-pleasant salute to the McClory legal battles over the name.
Now Eon is flaunting its ownership. :)

The choice of We Have All The Time In The World and DAF as launch music is very intriguing too. Hmmm , and the obvious, shattered glass OHMSS Tracy bullet hole too....double hmmmm.
Lots to suss out here storywise over the next 10 months - in the proper spoiler threads of course.

Gunshot on SPECTRE poster, symbol for Tracy's death?(shot through car window).
That will in case ruin the whole reboot thing.

No. You don't fly over Europe from Russia when you want to go to North America.

Let's speculate further. Here's the synopsis:

    - A cryptic message from Bond’s past: ??? This could be M leaving a postmortem note to Bond about Vesper/Quantum/Mr. White, that...
    - sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. (Quantum, Spectre or Quantum/Spectre)
    - Bond peels back the layers of deceit - ??? Who's deceiving who? Someones trust is being broken.
    - to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE - ??? Why the "terrible truth"? It implies a change in perception of SPECTRE during the movie. Maybe the terrible truth is Bond finding out that Quantum=SPECTRE.

I am thinking, "Crytpic message from Bond's past", is a message from before he was a spy.. Maybe something involving his parent's death...

I wonder if that means Silva was a part of Quantum or Spectre but preferred to operate on his own. It would explain his rather well thought out plot.

Or perhaps the death of Madeleine Swann at/near the end of the film?

Since the first half of Skyfall was a remake of The Man With the Golden Gun, it's possible Mendes and Logan might recycle some of the plot elements of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

How was Skyfall a remake of TMWTGG?

I appreciate the answer you've provided me with, @timmer, I feel better now, thank you! :D

As for the message being extracted, we've heard the rumours that the Oberhauser character is actually Blofeld, and the man who trained and raised Bond (Hans) possibly ran SPECTRE and wanted him to be part of the team, so M knew and had Bond slipped away from Hans' hands. Now his son Franz runs SPECTRE under the pseudonym, Ernst Stavro Blofeld. That's my thought.

By the way, did I hear somewhere that filming begins at Moneypenny's desk on Monday?

I'm glad they didn't dump Quantum on the back of QOS, I hoped that SF wasn't another reboot and always believed that SF was connected to the previous 2 although reviews implied it wasn't, partly down to lazy critics more than anything.

The fact they are bringing them back in does 2 things I think, ties SF and Spectre to CR and QOS giving us that continuity and also likely that Quantum reappearance will trigger the emergence of Spectre, be it Quantum becoming them or Spectre overthrowing them.

Those who mentioned White in the PTS I think is a good call. I can see Bond maybe working on a lead finally tracks White down but before he can question him he's shot and he leaves Bond with a cryptic clue setting him off looking for this new mysterious organisation, just a theory though.

Also having M dealing with having to justify the 00 section as started in SF is a great way to use Fiennes more but not bring him into the action and leave him behind the desk but give him some great dialogue moments with his opponents, likely that Andrew Scott being one of those.

Can't wait, this all sound incredibly delicious and the cast is probably the strongest cast to date, this the new Aston and the great locales, everything is shaping up nicely.

ok why is everyone assuming the PTS will kill off Quantum?

What if Spectre is a Branch of Quantum?

The title is starting to grow on me. Its kind of sharp but at the same time a bit lazy.

The plot synopsis sounds pretty good. This film is going to get personal again.

The Aston look great, DC looks to be in top form.

MB: It is a great honor to work with such a great director, such great cast, etc. Bond is the ideal man, strong, sexy, dangerous, a man who does not exist (laugh).
LS:I was hyper stressed at first, but not it is very nice, everybody is very nice, the people here are super nice.
