Well, let's not forget, double, Scott was "handpicked" for his role. Let's face it: Scott becoming the new Bond is not nearly as far-fetched as Fiennes being Blofeld.

EON made a seamless transition from Dench to Fiennes. They may be trying to find a new way to start introducing their new Bonds. A lot of fans can't get their heads around the reboot. Instead of finding a new actor to keep playing an aging Bond, it's time for EON to find a new way to explain a new Bond, every few films. He's going to start being "replaced." James Bond may be DC's name, but it's a name that will start being code after this. Maybe?

Remember in CR..."I thought M was a randomly assigned letter." Is it time for "James Bond" to also be an assigned name for 007, to hep EON present new actors to the role?

It's possible. It's also possible that Scott is that man starting with 25 or 26.

Don't dismiss the idea so quickly.

*double checks date* Yep, April's not for another 4 months.

I cant believe what I'm reading. You're either new to the world of Bond or you're just crazy. Furthermore, the 00 prefix is the code not the actual name James Bond. Q, M...they are titles. Have you ever had a job? Did your parents ever send you to school?

No disrespect to you, buddy but what you're saying is absolute rubbish.

It sounds like Blofeld will be introduced at the ending of the film..
Maybe the movie will be based on Bond tracking Mr. White and learning a ton of info.. Movie ends with White dying and us meeting who the real Blofeld is. I find it strange that Mr. White is back, he has to have a pretty big role in this film if he is back for a third film... Just doesn't add up to me.
I thought he was just henchman or middle man but to have him back for a third film tells me that he is much bigger.

Put yourself in EON's shoes for just a moment.

How will they keep this franchise going? With constant re-boots every time a new actor takes over? DC isn't getting any younger. Mendes said prior to SF and now prior to SP that "the characters will age."

The only way to keep Bond going on this current arch, in "the shadows," is to now continuously use "James Bond" as the cover name for 007. It would make sense to do that with a new Bond, whoever that may be. And to keep doing so.

What's rubbish to begin with is any secret agent using his real name out in the field. If you want to get technical. Right?

This is likely the wrong thread for this debate...I'll look for another thread on what the franchise will do when replacing DC.

His role doesn't need to be big necessarily...just instrumental in moving the plot along or in delivering a significant plot point tying Quantum to Spectre in some way. I believe he is a henchman, but an important one.

What if they decide to go with the code name theory and do an actual handover...?

Austria's role in the new James Bond adventure is growing. Christoph Waltz was introduced as an evil opponent of 007 Daniel Craig, additionally to the Austrian locations Obertilliach and Sölden. Now they revealed that Altausee is another location everything else is top secret.

In the video they were talking about the filming at Althausee. Preparation starting on Monday. Around 6th January the First unit will start filming for two days.
Allegedly Daniel will row across the lake and will have to pass a test (what ever that means..., because the scene will only last about one minute on screen)
It will be a quite scene (no action or explsions) no extras needed, the set will be very shielded and closed off so that there will be no chance for onlookers.

That is the most intelligent, relevant answer to this return of the "theory".

These Blofeld theories are wild lol =))

I believe the first and most logical... ya cast someone with charisma and worth seeing ..its Waltz ..and quantum as much if a dud as they were won't be killed in the pts ...too much story down the tubes too quick... Mr White will probably be amount as much presence as he was in previous films ..although I suspect mostly in Mexico City.
  • There is no way on this earth that EON will start using the code theory. James Bond is one person. Not a code name. Sean Connery's Bond from Dr No is the same character that DC played in SF. The character is the same and it will stay the same even when a new younger actor takes over.

I've had an absolute blast sharing the energy with everyone, but I think I must go. I wanted to know the title, the cast and the rough synopsis just to set my imagination going, and that's it. If I hadn't searched out that last one I may not have found out about Mr. White's return and the possible resolution of the Quantum story arc, which has shot this film to the top of my anticipated films list in seconds. I love the synopsis and think it tells us some things to whet our appetites but doesn't ruin anything either at the same time, which is great. Things are very much still a mystery when it comes to Bond 24, especially in how all these wonderful actors, locations and plot pieces will fit together for us to see next November.

I cannot imagine Andrew Scott, a relative unknown, to be cast as Blofeld when they have Christoph Waltz. And I can imagine even less Richard Scott giving orders and looking threatening towards anyone in the movie. Yes, he plays Moriarty, but not facing Waltz, Craig, Fiennes.

I feel like with this film and cast could easily be a High Time to Kill adaptation, which it isn't. I know that. I'm just having a bit of fun.

    - High Time to Kill was Bond's introduction to the Union, as an evil organisation. (Bond 24 is introducing Spectre for the first time in the rebooted timeline).
    - High Time to Kill had a "finale" set in icy mountains (which Bond 24 is probably going to do.
    - The villain, Roland Marquis, was from Bond's past and an archenemy (Waltz, who maybe the villain, is said to be Oberhauser, a character from Bond's past).
    - High Time to Kill ended with the reveal of a mole in Mi6, who ended up being Bond's then-girlfriend Helena Marksbury (Some people think Denbeigh will end up being a mole)
    - Besides the mole there are two other Bond girls in High Time to Kill, Gina Hollander and Hope Kendall (Lea Seydoux and Monica Bellucci)

You sure know your Bond lit. I re-read the Flemings, but you're making me think of revisiting the Gardner and Bensons. It would be like reading for the first time, as I have very little recall.
HTTK does seem to jive with the SP info that we have.

The only way that would work is if Blofeld is played by neither of these actors.
  • There is no way that Andrew Scott is Blofeld. Not when you have Waltz in the same film. Blofeld might not even be played by Waltz. For all we know Blofeld might not even be in the film! So many questions...

There is no chance in heck, either of Tanner or Mallory M, who seems very similar to original Miles Messervy M, will be morphed into Blofeld.
Don't forget Babs is still running this show. She's Cubby's blood progeny.
She's not going to do anything crazy. She is connected to the original films and the Fleming legacy via her dad.
The crazy will come down the road, when Eon is run by persons less connected to the character's literary and cinema roots.
Eg. Sherlock Holmes takes have been all over the map for decades now.
The same will happen to Bond some day, I reckon.

That would be a tragedy, but it almost did happen to some extent with MW in charge during the Brosnan era. Thank goodness for BaBs.

Hopefully she has kids who can carry the legacy forward.

Damn I was scouring this thread to see who the title song artist was but it turns out that it's "has been chosen" not "who has been chosen"

It looks like everyone got the ball rolling early on this one so no writers strike mess that was QOS and 50th anniversary obligations of SF, just a plain sailing adventure.

    I'm really hoping for Muse

Muse would be a great choice. And definitely much better than Sam Smith, in my opinion.
