  Exactly. And don't forget, this kind of filming has been going on for almost every Bond film. Just to mention the train sequences from Octopussy. Roger Moore was hardly needed there. And also important to note, 2nd unit filming is usually way more expensive, as it takes longer (planning).

  I have a super off topic question that has most likely been answered...

  How much of the leaked script has been re-written?
  Is it completely different or is it still kind of the same?

  The SPECTRE metting in Rome - Palazzo Cardenza, the interior has been created on a sound stage at Pinewood- it was stated in the Empire Magazine April 2015 issue.

  the meeting was originally supposed to feature masked men...a la Eyes Wide Shut? I understand that that is off the table? No masks?

  Checking out the car chase map, I think the cars are rushing on

  "Piazza Papa Pio XII" and "Via Paolo VI"

  Actually the border (Italy/Vatican) is set on these streets (the middle I suppose).

  It also works very well with the slightly orange tinge of the streetlights, making it aesthetically pleasing.
