Ireland was once rumoured for Casino Royale in it's early days when it didn't have a title, was set for 2005 and Brosnan was involved. It was probably nothing though and just came up due to the connections to Pierce.

I'd rather Africa was at last ticked off the list, for this next film personally.

@Samuel001, as much as I love Pierce, I would never trade CR for one last Brosnan film, but still, would've been interesting to see how he tackled the film.

Ireland is beautiful, but I do hope, they bring in something, that oozes sun and blue sky as well.
  • I've been saying for a while now that I want to see Ireland and Australia in a Bond film so if the film does end up being set partly in Ireland, I'll be very happy.

@thelivingroyale, that's what I was implying, because I would love to see Bond go to Australia.

I wonder if this means Mallory's back story will come into play?

I just had a flash Collin Farrel as an IRA/Quantum assasain... could be cool.
  • Ireland's too similar to Scotland. We need some contrast from film to film. I hope Eon isn't enacting austerity measures by staying local. Hell, the franchise is as rich as it's ever been. Shoot the works a bit and give us some far-flung, exotic locales.

I'm an American who has never been out of the country, so Scotland was far-flung and beautiful to me. I highly doubt the entirety of Scotland looks exactly like the entirety of Ireland. If they choose to shoot in the latter, who knows where they'll film?

I'm from Ireland and i would love to see 007 visit here in B24 Dublin city would be a good location or the giants causeway.

New locations would be most welcome. I would be happy with Ireland, Africa a,d Australia! Always have this image in my head that Quantum's HQ would be under or inside Ayre's Rock! :D ;))
  • If you want an African location, you'd do well to specify. There's a great deal of difference between Morocco and South Africa, Namibia and Eritrea.

I've actually championed the idea of a PTS in Somalia and who knows, with the success if the captain Phillips movie it could really work well or....be seen as "copying".

:)) I can already hear the same people who complained that Skyfall was copying Taken 2 by filming in Istanbul, which I'm sure didn't go like "Oh, Neeson's filming in Istanbul, capital idea, let's do that too", beefing about somebody basing part of BOND 24 on Somalia.

They probably won't be able to actually film anything there with all the chaos, I know Captain Phillips didn't, but perhaps they could find a neighboring country with a similar landscape and friendlier government willing to protect the production and one that would welcome the income. Somalia seems like just the kind of place where you'd find a QUANTUM agent or an organizational base, protected by the well greased warlords to keep interlopers out.

    What about New York City....

    PLEASE
  • A Somalian location--or perhaps Ethiopia subbing for Somalia--could work as long as you focused on the natural beauty of the landscape rather than the squalor of human habitation there. AFAIC, we got more than enough of that in QOS.

As to New York, well, if they're going to use an American city, I'd prefer Washington D.C. New York has already been done, and Washington is the capital and a city with many beautiful and historical landmarks.

@Khan- and if DC, hopefully the collection of jackasses on Capitol Hill won't be holding up production due to government shutdowns. Every person who voted against raising the debt limit ought to be voted out of office A.S.A.P for wanting to let our nation go to the brink of disaster.

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth said something very profound in his song "Peace Sells"-

"Tell me something, it's still 'We the people'. Right?"

If revolution does come, and hopefully my kids are grown, I think about now I'd join, that's how pissed I am at some of these so-called Americans making decisions for their own pocket and that of their rich buddies lining it.

Back on subject- I know I'm biased but I'd rather see Philadelphia get used. It's the true birthplace of our nation, it still has an interesting colonial feel for being urbane, and better yet I could be an extra and fulfill my dream of being in a Bond film :)

Your government sounds very familiar to our own UK over here. On othe subject of location cities in the US? Having visited New York, Washington, Philadelphia only 3b years or so ago. I think now Washington would be my choice followed by Philadelphia. New York has featured already so lets go to new places!

Give me my hometown Chicago anyday in a Bond film. Although Washington and Philadelphia are beautiful cities
  • Glad to see some love for Philly. We are much more than a bunch of drunks at an Eagles football game who are remembered best for heaving iceballs at Santa Claus 40 some years ago, which is what the lazy national sports writers like those pansies out in LA fall back on whenever there's any kind of incident. Dodgers and Giants fans stabbing each other in parking lots, that's OK, we'll let that slide.

I'd love for it to be filmed at least in part in Ireland.
And give Brosnan a fleeting, charming cameo.
That would cheer SirHenry no end. ;)
  • I wouldn't mind a cameo by Pierce, not at all. Better than giving him a 5th film ;)

I think you would probably be one of the first to admit Pierce deserved a fifth film, to not go out with DAD.

I'd like to see Pierce drinking in a pub. Heck, I just want to join Pierce drinking in a pub. ;)

I do hope part of this next one is filmed in Ireland; a beautiful country.

The Dodgers/Giants thing is very unfortunate and shouldn't be what represents those fans (myself being a Dodgers fan after my White Sox). But I think Philly would be a beautiful city for Bond to visit. In films like National Treasure, you only saw tourist attractions, where somewhere like Philly or Chicago can have so much more for a viewer to see.

I'm personally sick of New York in films. I love the city but it is overused in every entertainment media (one of the big reasons I'm looking forward to the game Watch Dogs). So I guess I'd say that is probably the one city I would not have Bond visit. Even if it wasn't properly used in LALD.
  • Philly could work: Bond versus the Flash Mobs

    ;)

I am also excited about Fiennes as M and the Ireland rumor

The fact people still believe Bond 24 is Devil May Care not so much

It's good to see the cast being interviewed every now and again and speaking about Bond. I wish it would happen more often. Just like M, I'm excited to see where we go next as well. Hopefully more is to come, very soon.

What a stupid article, everyone who sat through Skyfall until the end knows for sure that Fiennes will be playing M in Bond 24. That's hardly a newsstory.

It's just a little nothing piece about a major supporting character. Nothing to get upset about, one way or the other. I haven't read "Devil May Care", but I don't think the reception in these parts has been very positive.

Well the rumour about DMC was also debunked in July. And i don't think that there's much to pick from that mediocre book either.

We will probably get some real news this winter when Craig and Mendes are free from their current commitments.
