Amen, doubleoego! I know I'm certainly not the first to say this, but I sorely miss hearing the title song used throughout the films the way Barry (and even Arnold) used to do.

I agree. We're long overdue for this (a long time Bond staple) and hopefully they do it this time around. I think they will and I think we'll all be happy with the score for SP.

@Pierce2Daniel I'm not putting anything to bed. Especially when your evidence is The Sunday Times and I can't even read the full article.

It very well could simply be the perpetuating of a long running rumor. I, for one hope it is a rumor. Smith would not make my top 20 of artist I would like to do the title song.

Who would you like then? Hozier? Jonathan Jeremiah?

  • Imagine if they started announcing the artist at the press conferences when they announce the movie?

Smith is very talented, he's effectively not very dissimilar to Adele in terms of style. However, I feel he's a slightly obvious and bland choice and I was hoping for a more riskier and interesting artist to be appointed. However, if SP smacks of anything it's obviousness especially in terms of casting decisions: Waltz and Scott as the villains? Seydoux and Bellucci as Bond girls? Baustita playing a henchman? They are by all means great decisions, but slightly obvious for my liking, especially when compared to some of the more interesting decisions made on SF.

We need to get Alex Turner to write a Bond song!!

In other news, Naomie Harris was filming yesterday in London for SP

I don't have a problem with the casting at all. Bellucci as bond girl is not obvious at all, since she is older than Craig. Seydoux is a brilliant casting decision. Maybe the casting of Scott as a villain is uninspired after having played Moriarty in Sherlock, but Waltz is great in whatever role he plays.
Musical tastes are diverse, but calling Smith an uninspired choice and then making the case for uninspired casting is not called for in my opinion.

No one has a problem with the casting (the statement above indicates that they are great decisions). The comment was that it was 'slightly' obvious. That is certainly true from my perspective, apart from Bellucci.

Waltz & Seydoux have Bond written all over them. Bardem, Marlowe & even Harris did not.

If it's Smith for the song, that is certainly uninspired and as obvious as can be, again in my opinion.

Sometimes type casting is the wise move. Christopher Lee as Saruman, Sterling Hayden as McClusky, etc. In Bond movies, didn't Joseph Wiseman have a long career of playing villains before being cast as Dr. No?

Beside, we don't know if Andrew Scott will play a villain or simply a civil servant pain in the proverbial *rse.

I think spectre will be the longest bond film of them all, there seems to be lots of actions, a complex plot, plenty of characters. If the film is over 2 hrs 30 min I will be happy. I want an epic bond with scope and lush scenery. I don't care about Bond depressing scythe, I want a entertaining cinematic romp with good score good cinematography, good action good humour, etc.

I might be the only one, but I want to see both, plenty of action and character development.

"Could be about to follow in her footsteps by singing the theme tune" Still just a rumour. I don't think Mendes comissions the theme song anywa, previously its been a joint decision between Eon/Sony and Craig plenty of prior interviews out there to prove that as well as every artist in the Craig era who has done a theme is a Sony artist or is signed to a Sony Sub Label. I would take press with a pinch of salt. If you look at the last few films the theme has been a well gaurded secret and despite speculation it never turned out to be the person the press were pushing for the job.
