I think we won't hear anything from Sam until King Lear has come to the end of its run? That's if we are really lucky that it's that early? [-O<
  • Twenty years since Q's lab, there's a thought. TWINE and DAD had decent substitutes, but it's still strange to think about. You're right that it needs to come back, of course, along with some other traditions (cough gunbarrel cough).

I've all but given up on the gunbarrel. Even if it's back at the beginning, they'll probably use a crap design again (why won't they use the Brosnan one? It was the perfect update of the old Binder design), and Mendes, the producers and everyone else involved have shown that they don't give a toss about it.

I would love it if Bond 24 opened with a gunbarrel, using the old design or the Brosnan era one, that's actually paced well (the blood now falls down the screen before the music's finished, it's way too fast). But I'm not holding my breath.

I'm sick of being disappointed by the GB so this time, I'm going into Bond 24 expecting a crap looking gunbarrel tacked on at the end, unless I hear otherwise from people who've seen it before me. That way I can't be disappointed again.

The gunbarrel's only been messed up for two films now. In Casino Royale, it was a really cool twist on the concept, and even in Skyfall, Sam Mendes said he wanted to put it at the beginning. If it's where it's supposed to be, I'll accept a substandard design and too-fast pace.

I decided to type in Risico007.com in my web browser.... and nothing Happened

But to comment on where Skyfall left off the film does end with
the new M handing Bond an assignment so perhaps the Pre-Title sequence will be that mission?

Probably jumping ahead a bit here, but seeing that Logan is writing two films back to back, I am suspecting that he'll be tempted to put in a few twists and not necessarily follow the old formula. Just a thought, but I think we can expect for the villain to be still standing at the end of Bond 24 and everything set up for a final confrontation in Bond 25. So B24 might end with Bond 'losing'.

Logan has said Bond 24 will again, stand on its own, being its "own unique animal" in the latest interview. I don't think it's villain will carry over into multiple films.

DN, FRWL, TB, YOLT and OHMSS all stand on their own, yet they all have the same villainous organozation and, in four of them, the same villain. Having a recurring adversary is something that is fairly common in current franchise. Magneto showed up more than once in X-Men movies, the League of Shadows is featured twice (with different leaders, but still) in the Batman trilogy, Moriarty is in the background of the first Holmes movie and becomes the main villain in the second, etc.

I can't see Logan writing 2 and not having some running themes at the very least. I fully expect for there to be some new characters (villains and/or allies) that will carry over from one to the next.

Logan of course may have running themes for the next two movies but said movies will be their own thing. Just as FRWL can be linked to DN both movies are very different and tell their own individual story.

I would hope that Bond 24 will be like ThunderBall the return of Quantum yet not reliant on Dr No or From Russia With Love (similar to Thunderball not referencing From Russia with Love or Dr. No)

That would be great but I'm skeptical about ever seeing the return of Quantum under the Mendes regime.

I agree. I doubt whether Mendes or Logan or Craig have any desire to return to that particular dead end. I actually rather like QoS but am not bothered about finding out more about Quantum.

In the way Young improved upon DN with FRWL and Campbell improved upon GE with CR, I hope Mendes can match or surpass such improvements on SF with Bond 24.

I'm certainly rooting for him. Hopefully SF's success didn't shoot his ego into the stratosphere and make him think that no changes are necessary.

I think that's partly to do with Mr Deakins. He doesn't like filming in natural light.
  • I would comment about Bond 24 here but you can read my review of Skyfall on IMDB . It's called Dear Mr. Wilson & Ms. Broccoli. Oddly enough I make SEVEN points about the shortcomings of Skyfail in hopes that they won't make the same mistakes in Bond 24. I hope you can find it. Pip, Pip, Cheerio, and all that Rot...

Oh I have no doubt his ego was far beyond the stratosphere well before SF was even a gleam in his eye. He's a big-name movie director, after all.

    Like Shanghai?

    Or Macau? ;-)

And though the Scottish highlands were indeed grey, they looked fantastic thanks to Roger Deakins.

Coming off of being Highlander fan I know how beautiful and lush Scotland CAN look what we saw in Skyfall was dreay and depressing and I would of preffered more in Shang Hai and Macau honestly those were the best parts of the film for me.

Yes and the Shanghai shots were second unit. DC never set foot in China. The shots outside the office block where he follows Patrice were actually shot outside Broadgate Tower in the City of London: http://www.broadgatetower.com/#/film/

    Going back to the action again, here's a snippet if an interview Chris Evans gave about the fighting style for his new Cap movie. I thought it was interesting and the reasoning is very apt for Bond;

Q: Can you talk about the new fighting style?

Evans: I remember when I first met with the Russos… Has anyone played the Captain America video game? I love it. And I don't like video games. But I loved it because I liked the way Cap moves. He moves so well and beats ass. This is how he should be moving. He doesn't just have speed and power. He's been training. He's got the frame of mind to absorb this information, so you can imagine with his training and abilities, the guy should really be dangerous and we should show this. It's not just taking Jason Bourne, if Bourne can do it, Cap should be flying through these things. We're turning up his power and his speed, so the fights are a bit more grisly.

During Ralph Fiennes visit to Sweden previously this week he was interviewd by a movie-magazine, and one of the questions involved if he thought that M will be out in the field for Bond 24.
He said that "I hope! I would really like him to get out, i've laid some hints about that. Although i don't know what's going to happen, i hope to hear something about the new film soon. But i think he will be out from the office, at least a bit."

If he *must* get out of the office for Bond24, I'd be satisfied if he gets similar screen time to M in MR, and nothing more.

I will never understand, why it is so important, that everything remains the same. If you have a great M,(who started with Dench for me) let them play around a bit ith the role. In the ends - it is just another character in a movie and a good actor. Why waste his talents instead of adding him nicely into the plot?

And it's not like the above quote gives much more than a vague wish. "I hope", "I don't know", "I think". People get so worked up on so little.

I don't see anyone getting worked up over it. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for Fiennes not being wasted in the role. In fact, I'm still pinching myself that he is in the role, and am looking forward to seeing his next performance. What I mean to convey is I'd just rather he remained in London while Bond gets on with the job, and he seems like the kind of M to do just that.

Agreed. If he was the new Bernard Lee, I'd be happy with that.
