    perhaps one of the working titles for Spectre was Risico.... I will listen to the song when I get home from work.

    Wow, that song is utter garbage. Die Another Day seems like Goldfinger compared to that.

    This is actually from True Detective 2. I did not know it was originally intended for SP. Not quite to the genius level of 'Do I wanna know' but still miles better (imho) than the final song we received.

    I would have preferred this or Radiohead's attempt. A crying shame all round, but it's done now. Hopefully we get something appropriate for B25, both on the song and on the score front. If Mendes is indeed finally in the rear view mirror then I'm hopeful we will be back on track.

    I do like the song as I said but I think it would have needed to be fleshed out and embellished more.

    Same with RH but less so. That song improves as it progresses.

    WotW is still embarrassing and inappropriate... we've come a long ways from the masculine You Know My Name.

    @Creasy47, at least from my perspective, the tone was not in keeping with the final film. The song's tone, along with Smith's pre-release comments, seemed to suggest some epic love story, which is a far cry from what we got in the final film. So tonally inappropriate in my view. Something darker and more 'spectral' would have been my preference. The Radiohead track was closer to my expectation.

    Makes sense. I didn't follow along with WotW whatsoever once it was first released, so I didn't know about that. Tried to avoid the lyrics and everything else about it until I caught it in theaters.

    WOTW is not a love song, though. It's the start of a feeling which may be developing in love, just like Bond and Madeleine's relationship in the movie.

    I know it's paramount we must be seen to denigrate Smith at every turn, but he's hardly the first to dabble in schmaltz and at least it had context. Whether you believe in the romance is moot, the concept is clear. Tonally and contextually the above have nothing at all to do with the respective movies. If we're going to judge let's keep the criteria the same across the board.

    That guy narrating disqualifies himself within the first minute. If he doesn't get what the visuals of the PTS accomplish and he rather checks his iPhone then all hope is lost.
    I stopped after four minutes, it's probably supposed to be funny, and the guy succeeds as Skyfall succeeds in being a comedy.

    In my case it's not a question of denigrating Smith. He drew attention to the context and tone in his pre-release statements. That set my expectations about what we were going to get in the film. This was further added to by his video release, which showed new footage of the post Hinx-fight sex between Madeline and Bond (and which people jumped on to suggest there was something deep and meaningful coming in the romance dept.). The final film in total didn't validate the lyrics of the song in my view. Some thought it was Bond who was in love (as per the song) while others explained it away that it was in fact Madeline in love. This despite Smith stating explicitly that the song was sung from Bond's perspective.

    The other examples are just not the same. To my knowledge, nobody went out of their way to suggest a connection between lyrics and song in those cases. They were just songs, like countless other Bond songs that had no connection to the films in the 80's. I can't find any connection between All Time High and anything that happens in Octopussy.

    The connection was explicitly made by the songster himself in the case of SP.

    Agreed. Thankfully we're done with it now, and can look forward to B25, news of a studio and possibly a new actor. Great things on the horizon to be excited about.

    Most of the things in that video are made up. And this is coming from someone who disliked SPECTRE.

    I just figured early early morning but kinda odd.

    I watched SP again this past Monday and I enjoyed it a lot this viewing. Same complaints but I DID enjoy watching it.
