Are there any fans of the CSI serial killer series Dexter on here at all?

I've been thinking about getting the Dexter Season 1-5 Boxset on Amazon recently - would it be a good buy, do you think?

I've heard a woman describe this show as a serial killer who goes out to kill other serial killers. A serial killer of serial killers - wouldf this be a fai9r (or overly simplistioc view of this TV series). Almost sounds a bit like James Bond, doesn't it? (shades of Bond's speech in TMWTGG film - "Those whom I kill are themselves killers")

Is it true rthat it is really extreme and bloody or is it more darkly comic?

Your thoughts on this I would, as always, welcome.

I can truly recommend 'Dexter'. It is very well done and quite entertaining. In the States it's shown on Showtime with 'Homeland'(which Season 1 was great) following. Dex is a blood splatter expert for the Miami PD. It is not gory and has numerous subplots and the writing is very creative. The season with John Lithgow was tremendous. Buy the series set. The last season begins Aug./Sept. of 2013.

Dexter is awesome. No doubt about that. I've only seen the first three seasons, which I bought from my brother a couple of years ago. I've been meaning to buy the following seasons, but I'll get around to it when they're more in my price range.

Wow... I simply can't say anything else than wow, and that is because the TV series has had me so hooked ever since the pilot episode. I get amazed over and over again, especially about the way the script writers always come up with so exciting stuff and new different kills that it just never gets boring... And the truly awesome part is that they also make everything fit with the previous story so everything is reasonable and logically fitting together as one large story.I highly recommend this title and for anyone searching for a more story- driven show that still throws in essences of character development. The plot twists and catches in the story will keep you interested without slowing down.
  • I watched the first 2 seasons, and found out that no character was worth my time.
I didn't have any sympathy for any of them, so stopped watching. My wife however, is a die-hard fan. I even bought her a "I love Dexter" t-shirt for Christmast, she wearing it non-stop ever since.

    I don't feel safe anymore...

Sorry you didn't like it JBF. Maybe if you wore a Sgt. Doakes t-shirt?

With your wife being a fan, no question who carves the turkey.

I enjoy the show, but I stopped watching after the last season (is it Season Six? The one with:
    the religious serial killing duo)

I've been meaning to get back into it, even though I had the finale spoiled for me, and it sounds great and intense. One of the only shows I really tune in to, including 'The Walking Dead' and 'Californication.'

Speaking of Showtime and 'Californication,' it's nice to see the show returning in exactly two weeks time. I can't wait.
