My boss- More of a mate than anything else.
The police- Depends. I suppose overall I respect them.
My countrys leader- Me respect him? Haha, not a chance.
I show the utmost respect to police that do the same for me, yet I've encountered many "I AM the Law" types that deserve none at all (thankfully, they seem to be in the minority...).
My leader... sort of.. kind of... but he's a lying idiot like the rest of politicians at the end of the day, not closing Gitmo & continuing drone strikes despite his warm & fuzzy public image (and I voted for him twice).
And doctors? Surgeons with skills, yes of course, but general practitioners tend to know less concerning the biomechanics of simple chronic conditions than I do, so I take their 'authority' with a huge chunk of salt.
So basically, I must say that I have some Authority Issues. Par for the course being a Bond fan, I conjure.
B-)
I'm unable to drive so I have that one covered! 8-}
This is what annoys me most about arbitrary limits. So many people can be a liability at 30mph around town yet the police concentrate on clear stretches of A road where you can be pulled over for 10mph above the limit despite presenting no risk at all. But it's easier to prove someone is breaking the speed limit than to prove they're driving without due care and attention, so the police concentrate on the former as the conviction rate is far higher and involves less paperwork (a friend of mine is a traffic cop so I know the behind the scenes thinking....he speeds when it's safe too).
I'm the first to admit I break speed limits and I love driving, but I'd pump up my ego and point out I passed the IAM test years ago (despite disagreeing with half of what they teach, especially push-pull steering) and also have 20 years experience of track and rally driving at clubman level. I'd also argue that my car is safer at 80mph than most people's cars are at 60mph. It can certainly stop a hell of a lot faster than the average shopping trolley, and generates grip that most non petrolheads couldn't even comprehend. Most importantly, I'm paying attention to the road all the time, not paying attention to my phone/ipod/make up/ iPad/children etc.
