    CLUE (1985)

    I loved this movie as a kid. Based on the popular board game of the same name (Cluedo here in the UK) it boasts a great cast including Tim Curry, Madeline Khan, Michael McKean, Christopher Lloyd, Eilleen Brennan, Martin Mull and Lesley Ann Warren.

    Despite it receiving a critical mauling at the time of it's release and it being a financial flop at the box office, it has gone on to receive a cult following.

    I still like the film very much. Yes, it's extremely goofy, low brow, childish etc but I do find it very funny. The performances in particular of Curry and Khan are the standouts and the three 'alternative' endings are great.

    @WillyGalore, ahh, I never get tired of that film. My friend and I must have watched that film hundreds of times when we were younger. I would go over to his house, play a whole bunch of games of 'Clue,' and then later on, we would watch the movie. Curry is fantastic in it, as usual, and I love the calm-yet-spooked Mr. Green in it. He's always been my favorite character.

    Didn't think I'd find a fellow fan of Clue on here ;-)

    It was the first time I was made aware of Tim Curry. Was years later when I discovered it was years later when he made his name in Rocky horror. Personally, I don't think he's ever been better. Great comic timing.

    The last line from Mr Green cracks me up every time.

    "I'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife!"

    Great story, @chrisisall. :-) I'm very fond of that film. I think Cushing is great in it but also, it has a satisfying revenge plot. I love well executed revenge plots.

    Would that have anything to do with Susan Denberg, Dimi? ;) I'm looking at my Hammer:Frankenstein collection, right now, and Frankenstein Created Woman is still sealed. I don't recall seeing this one. So I shall have to watch it soon, and then try and rank the series, like I did with Hammer's Dracula films (HORROR took the top spot, with SATANIC in 2nd place).

    Susan is very lovely even though the film has her ... let me get back to this once you've seen the film. ;-) Looking forward to your raking, Major.

    Horror is my favourite Dracula too, with Brides curiously enough a close second. I say curiously for we all know which element is missing, but despite that I enjoy Cushing in it and the overall atmosphere of the film. :-)

    The Saint (1997) Val Kilmer, Elizabeth Shue.
    While being nothing like the Roger Moore version, It was still a nice little thriller that was a cross between GoldenEye and Mission Impossible. I'm glad Kilmer did this instead of returning for Batman & Robin.

    Good choice, @Murdock! The Saint is a pretty cool film IMO. I love the music and the acting, the story is good enough and the overall setting is pretty nice as well. I'm glad they didn't go for needless action and Roger Moore's voice cameo was interesting to say the least. :)

    @WillyGalore, haha, has to be my favorite line of the film. Just goes from babbling to cool in a matter of one minute.

    Lucky you, though, because my first introduction to Tim Curry was his role as Pennywise in 'IT' when I was a young boy. :( nightmares for a good while.

    @Murdock, that version of 'The Saint' is a mixture of GE And MI? I must see this.

    Yes, I saw that when I was 14 I think it must have been. It took ages for me to realise who was playing Pennywise. Couldn't believe it was the same guy from Clue!

    Agreed @DarthDimi I don't see why it got negative opinions.

    @Creasy47 Yes it has a lot to do with A post soviet Russia, New World Technology and a great paced get there first thriller like MI. I wasn't bored at all with the film. I recommend you see it. Plus Val Kilmer was really fun to watch in this. I haven't seen many of his movies but this is my favorite of his. Wish I seen it years ago but all the bad reviews made me shy away from it.

    @Murdock Have you seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? Kilmer, along with Downey Jr, are simply wonderful in it.

    It's written and directed by Shane Black. The dialogue is sharper than the taste of a dozen lemons! ;-)

    @WillyGalore pretty much hit the nail on the head. 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang' is excellent, and Kilmer and RDJ are at the top of their game in it. Shane Black is great when it comes to witty dialogue and banter like that.

    Still, my favorite Kilmer film has to be 'Heat.' You must see it, if you haven't. Michael Mann perfection, as usual.

    We're on the same wavelength there. Heat is just brilliant. An absolute masterclass in filmmaking backed up by a group of actors at the very top of their game. One of the last films in which DeNiro and Pacino were actually very very good (save for perhaps Casino, Jackie Brown and Donnie Brasco).

    @WillyGalore, oh, absolutely. Now, if you want to see the total opposite of a perfect film starring both De Niro and Pacino, go watch 'Righteous Kill.'

    Works for me! Speaking of Mann, I would enjoy having a nice Mann marathon of the films I have of his, which, unfortunately, is a small amount. I think I only own 'Heat,' 'Collateral,' 'Miami Vice,' and 'Public Enemies.'

    Good to see some love for The Saint film. I like the film too, though liking Elisabeth Shue and not liking the 60's tv series might help. It's about time we had a directors cut.

    Manhunter, imo, is the best of all the Thomas Harris adaptations. Brian Cox is far more effective 'Lektor' than the showy turns given by Hopkins. It has dated somewhat though and is very 80's but it's still a great film.

    Mohicans is also wonderful. Gorgeous photography and a great score.

    Is the editing style of 'Mohicans' the same as films like 'Collateral' and 'Heat' where the camera moves along at a steady pace and feels very realistic? It's been so long since I've seen it.

    RIDDICK - Vin Diesel is once more awesome (by lack of better word) as Riddick, the movie is great fun but leave the kiddies at home since it is an independent shot movie its some what horrifying a times.

    I wanted to see it - how was Sackhoff in the film, sans spoilers - but I didn't go this weekend so I'll just wait for the DVD/blu-ray. The next ones for me are 'Insidious: Chapter 2' and 'Rush.'

    Lockout - Really surprised me this film, great dialog, Pierce was good as the cynical wise cracking lead. Maggie Grace is simply gorgeous and a very good actress, admittedly the special effects were not brilliant, though did not matter. Good old fashioned action movie.

    My Son & I just watched the Chinese DVD* of Jackie Chan's The Accidental Spy (Which I've seen many times, but he never did before) and we had tons of fun. He said it was Jackie's MOST serious film (I won't show him New Police Story, no way), but for spy fans & Jackie fans, this was a great movie! The orphan thing is really played up, and manipulation is a key factor. One of the best spy flicks ever with a Chan twist. The Tuxedo was a stupid kiddie movie by comparison.

    *The American version was cut to hell in the wake of the 9-11 event.
