And I did not, repeat not, download a copy of it last night. ;-)
It's not a masterpiece, but it served it's purpose. So, I enjoyed it.
If I was Brosnan, I'd steer well clear of the next film.
The action was just insipid and dull. And poor special effects and editing as you've already pointed out.
Just awful.
I figure the leak and poor word-of-mouth has already hurt the film weeks in advance. I'm sure it'll still rake in the heavy dough, though.
Just started watching this on Youtube myself. God Arnie is bad even by his standards.
I'm going to need a beer.
Also the brawl in the casino reminds me of LTK.
I have not seen this yet. Russell Crowe, right? I really admire him. I may need to rent this. (won't be the extended version obviously) But I'm curious: Who is RZA, @Creasy47?
Bad things? It may not be quite as fabulous as the first two, but I think it's still a very good movie, definitely worth seeing, and it wraps up Michael Corleone's story. I don't know how many times I've seen them all, but I'd happily re-watch all three of them any time. :)
Raw Sewage :p
Pretty naff. Although a better film in itself I can sort of see what inspired Licence to Kill three years later.
I would say along with Chinatown. But then, we can keep adding to that list, can't we? :)
Many writers, rewrites, changes made daily, filming with an unfinished script, nobody knowing how it would end and all... but it didn't end up too bad, did it? ;)
A great cast. Looks fantastic (I never want to see the colored version, ugh). Great music. A classic, obviously.
The documentary on the disc was interesting, I hadn't seen that before. Oh and now (that I know about and have seen a clip) I really, really want to see Carrotblanca. :P
I got around to seeing the movie myself...
I felt like I was watching a direct to video movie. I like the idea of these movies but the execution is such a missed opportunity.
Exactly, and not a direct-to-DVD movie that's surprisingly good. Just...awful trash.
Was this an asylum film? :))
Harley Davidson & Marlboro Man 3/6 , weak buddy actioneer.
Wanderlust , 4/6
To call 300: Rise of an Empire a massive disappointment would be a massive understatement. Coming eight years after Zack Snyder's surprisingly decent 300, this film fails to live up to its predecessor in almost every way.
The most notable problem with the film is its over reliance on slow motion and 3D "moments". The blood effects in the film are also quite poor, which plays into both of the first two complaints, as every blow to the body of a soldier in the film brings with it a slow-motion shot of the weapon striking them and then some rather unrealistic-looking blood flying through the air, often times directly at the screen (still in slow motion) to get the 3D effect. It gets tiresome very quickly.
The acting is rather abysmal as well. No, nobody's expecting Oscar-caliber performances here, but it's all pretty subpar here.
The only bright spot in this film is Eva Green. She carries the entire thing on her back. She relishes the villainous role that she plays, making her Artemisia a thoroughly entertaining villain. The problem is that the film around her is a mess, and a villain without decent heroes can only make but so much impact.
1/5
The film gets a rating of 1 out of 5, with the one star being awarded solely for Eva Green and her work in the film.
Excellent choice, @Tuulia! One of the best films ever made.
Dumb and Dumber
"She left this at the airport" (indicates briefcase)
"What's in it?"
"Man...I'd have to be a lowlife to go rooting around in somebody else's private property"
"Is it locked?"
"Yeah...really well"
:))
I've decided I'm not going to see the second.
Still one of the very best in the series. Such amusement! And this one doesn't even include Clouseau at the centre of things.
Yes, it's wonderful. It had been years since I'd seen it and strangely, I had forgotten about the excellent humour in it. :)
Saw 2 other films yesterday, but they were nothing special. Both sounded more interesting than they were.
The Shape Of Things (2003), starring Rachel Weisz, Paul Rudd, Gretchen Mol. Not bad, but I can't say I liked it, either.
Wild Target (2010), starring Bill Nighy, Emily Blunt, Rupert Grint, Eileen Atkins, Martin Freeman, Rupert Everett. I assume it was supposed to be funny, but to me it wasn't, but sure seemed to be trying hard.
@Tuulia, I saw 'Wild Target' when it was out and I really enjoyed it. Bill Nighy was the one giving me the most laughter, as there were a lot of subtle comedic moments with him, such as when he tries to rush out the door first to make sure the coast is clear. It gets completely quiet, and he looks up and down the empty hall a few times, and silently says "All clear," as Blunt's character storms off.
