Got it in one...watching one of my all time favourites ,'Zulu' now on SKY Greats...by mistake but i can never resist my country's heroisim..
It's worth noting that they were making propaganda movies in the middle of a war, yet go out of their way to point out that Germany is not a nation of monsters. There's also lots in this one about the bravery of the Dutch, as they help our bomber crew get home.
Not bad ,worth watching. 7/10
Communication on the internet is clearly complicated. Apologies to everyone for asking clarification on an opinion that several people here seemed to take for granted and I remain unaware the reasons for. I know opinions on the matter vary, I take no side myself. Okay, I'll just go and finish my packing now.
I love Tom Cruise wholeheartedly as a filmmaker, actor and an action star. The guy knows how to go to the farthest lengths to perfect his vision of what he's tending to show on the course of the films he makes. I admire him for that. But, as a person, I don't like him a bit. He lectures everyone on his abysmal beliefs and puts Scientology forward Katie Holmes got scared and filed for divorce to protect her daughter from him, and she publicly stated that, without requiring money from him or inheritance, whereas that wasn't the case for Amber. She asked for a fine with a problem that wasn't existent. Not any chance by evidence. But, since we don't know actually, it's fair to dismiss that. I know of people on Facebook (screenwriters, film crew, cinematographers and whatnot) who also confirmed her ingenuity. So, I think that story of her being a gold digger, liar and a cheat is true. Nevertheless though, I think she's a sensational actress. No questions about that.
Opinions vary, certainly. And I have no argument against those. So, again, my deepest apologies for coming off as offensively impolite and ill-mannered in my response.
Anyways mate, in order not to hijack this thread, jump in to the PMs for further discussion if there's the need for it, before the moderators threaten us. :D
They say not to meet your heroes, and that may well be true. Which is why I've made the conscious decision to have my heroes be fictional characters for as long as I can remember. It's very hard for them to disappoint me in that way.
Absolutely spectacular film, had me on edge of my seat one moment, and had me laughing out loud 10 seconds later. Daniel Kaluuya has been on my radar since 'Johnn English Reborn', and I didn't see him again until the amazing 'Sicario', and now I see him here, and he once again gives a powerhouse performance. Some very brutal moments near the end, and the film moved along at a fast pace for the entire 100 minutes, so I was shocked when the end credits started, I felt like I had barely sat down for 30 minutes! And I really loved seeing Stephen Root in this film, an amazing character actor I've seen in a lot of small roles ('24','Boardwalk Empire', 'Justified').

The moment they killed off Lara Pulver, who played a very prominent role in the TV Series, is the moment I already lost interest. The ending, however, was great from a patriotic point of view.
This is a South Korean disaster/survival film, as man is trapped alone in a tunnel that collapsed while he was driving through it, and the best rescue crew in S. Korea is tasked to rescue him. This was one of the best films in a long time that this genre had to offer, and once again these Asian fellas completely own anything Hollywood manages to do. The lead actor here is Ha-Jung Woo, one of my favorite Korean actors who's had quite the career since his breakout role as the serial killer in 'The Chaser'. This latest film is 2 hours of non stop gut-wrenching, nail bitting tension. With this and 'Train to Busan', the South Koreans are on a roll lately.
Don't forget 'The Wailing,' as well! South Koreans know what they're doing in the film world, that's for sure.
It's probably been 15 years or so since I've seen this one. It was also my first Hitchcock-film. Loved it then, and when I found it available on iTunes, I could not resist buying it.
It did not disappoint. Just as suspenseful as I remembered it, and as the end credits rolled, I found myself wanting to see it again immediately. Decided to wait until the summer, when I'm planning a mini Hitchcock-marathon with The Rope, Rear Window, North By Northwest and Vertigo.
The film left me a bit undecided about Tippi Hedren's acting - compared to that of Kim Novak, Eva Marie Saint and Grace Kelly - but she's suited the role fine.
This is where the fun begins, ladies and gentlemen. Arguably the most comedic of the 'Avengers' films so far, Guardians 2 presents us with joke after joke and yet manages to squeeze in some good action and lovely, family friendly story arcs too. I know this may sound strange but like STAR TREK V done right for a change, Guardians keeps what worked so well in the first film and elevates it to something even bigger and--yes, in my opinion--better in this second one. Look, this will never be Cap 2 or Iron Man in my book; I wasn't too enthusiastic about that first Guardians, though I honestly liked it. But this sequel made me laugh, not just chuckle, but laugh sooo hard, I must have lost a pound or two in the process. Go watch this film. Don't bother checking out the "entire mythology" if you're not up to it. It's not mandatory. Put your feet up, grab a bag of potato crisps and a Red Bull and get funky!
Imagine a survival drama where the antagonist is the vast open desert. A group of friends/acquaintances on their way to a rock concert in the desert, become stranded and find themselves at the mercy of an unforgiving terrain. For what could be considered a b-film or an indie, this was a beautifully shot film. I was really drawn in to Mischa Barton's character, Jae, she really deserves to work in more higher profile films.
Deserted reminded me of a film called Thirst (2010). They both had the same set up of a group of people stranded out in the middle of nowhere, with little food and water which soon runs out, and at the mercy of the elements.
Funny, was just watching the debate you shared this morning between him and William F. Buckley. Always intriguing.
not a horrible film but it doesn't have the intrigue of 2 or 1 plus it just felt odd... over all not a bad film just not amazing
Up next the Jaws Franchise in reverse (which means I should be seeing the first one around July 4th) so with Michael Caine I will be heading to the Bahamas in search of Lorraine Grey's acting Career.

I really wasn't looking forward to this but I'm glad I watched it. It was really interesting and I learned a few more things about that event. They provided actual security camera footage and photos and ended it with interviews from the people that are portrayed in the movie.
Think of me when Neil drives his car with Eady in it through a brightly lit tunnel and you experience Spinotti's amazing grainy film stock and Goldenthal's ethereal sounds.
