Really enjoyed it. I am a sucker for these kind of movies lol.
That I agree with. However, "anything Disney has done so far"? Nah, RO is in my top 3 of SW movies. ;-)
I was referring to the Saga films, RO is by far the best Disney SW film.
Finally got to see it. Not a frequent visitor to cinema anymore, has to be something really special to make me bother. A lot of hype around this, and it's mostly a talking point as THE movie to see.
Verdict? I enjoyed it for what it is. But I have no desire to watch it again. What I found more interesting, my sister-in-law went to see it (loved it) and told me a number of people walked out of her screening. I thought maybe it was too disturbing for some! At my viewing, I counted 8 people walking out. I now believe that some were expecting a comic book, Heath Ledger/Jack Nicholson type Joker movie.....And this is anything but!
A dark story of mental illness, Joaquin Phoenix is excellent in the lead role, but it's not for everyone!
Going to see it a second time tonight. I’m personally a big fan. It’s my cup of tea, but I understand it’s definitely not for everyone. It’s a very different “Batman” / comic-book movie.
The Changeling (1980). Really liked this horror film! Not the most well-known one, but very good.
Brilliant film, great cast and as far from Alan Partridge as you can get !!
I couldn't find the Last Bond Movie You Watched thread.

Pretty good. Mel Gibson is great in it.
Several brilliant sequences, but also a lot that preferably could have been cut out. It takes about half the movie to get invested. Quite blatant propaganda too, as is so often the case with Spielberg.
I see your opinion on this propaganda... but the movie is a masterpiece.
Halloween (1978) and Halloween (2018)
Obviously the original is a stone cold classic. Beautifully shot. Stylish and influential.
The new follow up is growing on me and i adore the new Carpenter score. It doesn't all work but still a nice companion piece to the superior original.
Also watched Halloween H20 (1997) which i think is a better sequel to the one above. It has a more logical storyline and keeps Michael's previous whereabouts a mystery. Jamie Lee has never been better.
Another Halloween favourite is:
The Bride of Frankenstein (1935) Much preferred to the original, this is Universal horror at it's finest. So many great and iconic moments and lashings of black humour.
Love the prologue with Shelley and Byron.
A newer horror i watched last night was In The Tall Grass (2019) based on the Stephen King/Joe King novella. Quite enjoyed its strange story. It's really well shot with convincing performances.
Amazing film, my favourite of the year.
Mythical symbolism for the gamer generation. Some cool scenes, but also some cringe. Would have benefitted from an hour shorter playtime.
Classic madcap comedy from 1962, Norman Wisdom at his best this a funny film.
Blimey! Used to love watching these as a kid! A reminder of a better time in England.
I have watched a lot of British cinema from the 50's and 60's recently it was a golden age. To be honest the attitudes and sensibilities appear far more mature and advanced than today
You're absolutely right.
I think I agree with that, @Thunderfinger. I usually love everything that Spielberg does, but he can be a bit much sometimes. RPO has visual gold to offer but there's a lot going on for just one movie.
Is that the one with King Kong chasing the cars along the building roofs ?
Yep.
This is one of my darlings, the cultural phenomenon that left us baffled in '99. What can I say? This stuff isn't getting old! The action still rocks, the mythology remains cool despite some truly nonsensical concepts in the sequels and the exceptionally bad dialogues that come with them. But hey, because of the action, I'm a Matrix sequels apologist. Keanu, Fishburne, Weaving, Moss, ... they're all so much fun in these films. So, for this marathon:
I, for one, have always loved The Matrix and I'm modestly intrigued by the prospect of a fourth film, even though I know I probably shouldn't be. ;)
