Upgrade is on my watch list, I did not realise it was the same director, I was impressed by the camera work in The Invisible Man. I will watch Upgrade asap, its on Netflix.
It's a damn good genre film, really surprised me. Reminded me of the recent Possessor, which was excellent.
based on what I have seen so far of Leigh whannell I suspect he will be making major blockbusters soon enough.

Upgrade
Well that was awesome, I have a new favourite science fiction director, so much creativity in this film. One aspect of the film reminded me of a character from 2001: A Space Odyssey in a good way. The music and sound design was superb even more so in Dolby Atmos.

Sorry I did not see this until now, regarding Rey I think they probably made the best choice regarding lineage. I am not a fan of Solo though the Kessel Run for me is the best part of the film, I found a lot of the film quiet weak, especially the ending.
Hideously underrated film.
A sequel that explores and expands the original films ideas and themes.
I think the story is well done without being a rehash of the original.

I am a fan of the film I also have the score I often listen to the track Solar Sailer, the IMAX scenes are eye popping.

I am sure I read earlier in the year a third film is still possible soon. The first film stands up well I like the ideas it presents, as a kid I always wanted that computer desk below, tech way ahead of its time...

I love the original, saw it in the cinema, and it was a terrific experience.
Watched it recently on bluray and it was still an enjoyable watch.
It was a true original mate. Still stands up today. The brilliant Jeff Bridges grounds it. And just love the Wendy Carlos score.
The sequel isn't perfect but it does at least attempt to continue the story in an interesting way. Have both films on Bluray.
What can be said about this holiday classic... like a fine wine this is perfect and I would argue it stands up with the best Halloween movies and specials

It’s a shame that USA TV isn’t playing it this year because unfortunately stupid self centered politicians have hog their own opinions on how to get themselves re-elected.
However, relating to this thread, I plan on watching two 1999 classics: South Park: Bigger Longer Uncut and American Beauty.

I know, it’s just that less people get to see it the old fashioned way, on one of the three broadcast networks. They are now stuck with boring politics talking about fixing things and they don’t. End rant.
Oh I agree; I am 57 and still watching the Holiday specials that I’ve enjoyed since I was a kid. There’s something special about watching it when you know that millions across the country are also doing the same.
Fantastic movie, my favorite from Mendes.
Even though I had a good time in the cinema with this, I never bought it as it is just too disgusting. But it turned up on tv the other day. Still hilarious.
Not the biggest fan of the comic book craze, but this one I rather liked. Then again, I love underwater stuff and synth music. Italy as a location, even though very briefly, always helps too. I'd take this over most other of those 'more of the same' Marvel films.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers
I'm a part 3 defender but that doesn't mean you aren't allowed to love part 4. Flawed as they are, the so-called Thorn trilogy oozes in October atmosphere, something sorely missing since part 6. This one is no different and has a great ending too.
Director Luc Besson (Nikita, Leon) debut is an interesting post apocalyptic set film, as we follow a survivor (Pierre Jolivet, who co wrote the story with Besson) in his skirmishes with another man (Jean Reno) and battles with isolation and hunger.
Dialogue free (side effect has damaged peoples vocal chords!) And filmed in black and white, Besson presents a visual arresting tale, with memorable set pieces (fish falling from the sky during a rainstorm!) And flashes of humour (sounds of lovemaking at the start turn out to be our hero and an inflatable sex doll), but it has darker moments, most especially a shocker near the end! Vaguely remember seeing it in the cinema, it holds up well! Oh, i must mention Eric Serras score, which is rather intrusive, annoying, and at times sounds like he is scoring a Barry Manilow album!
The Phantom Menace 4K this film has issues we all know, for me time has been kind to this film to me it feels like Star Wars despite its faults. The sound is phenomenal in Dolby Atmos especially the Pod Race its quite an experience watching it in this format. This film has never been presented better.
4 had probably the best ending of the series. Just imagine what it would have been like if they hadn't bottled it with H5.
I had a Rita Hayworth double-bill. First up was the film that imortalised her with Gilda (1946), followed by her comeback after a 4 year gap with Affair In Trinidad (1952).
They've all been entertaining enough, though my least favourites have been the first two (despite their creativity in the kill department, most of the characters suck and I find the pacing too slow) and the fifth one.
3, 4 and 6 were lots of fun. Jason Lives, especially, is a blast. So many great moments with some nice Alice Cooper songs to contrast against Manfredini's score. The New Blood was never boring but I found the telekenetic thing a bit dull.
All in all, a good time.
Good film for children......... :))
