I don't hate it.
Had promising ideas, I’m going to do a rewatch soon, next to the other Star Wars sequels. Billy Dee Williams is always charming.
Doesn't hold up.
I think DARK STAR (1974) is the better film.
..........of course I was watching the 2004 DVD edition with the George Lucas bells and whistles. Maybe the Blu-ray has the original edit?
Walking dead.
Is that a threat? I'm sure the admins will appreciate that.
Sad scared man. A TV show ref rattles you, I mean you no harm. But make fun, yeah.
Oh I vastly prefer it to TLJ.
It s the best.
Thanks, @Creasy47. :) But really, you love the movie? It's okay if you do, of course. It's just that I find more to contemplate rather than to like in this movie. :)
DARK STAR (1974) is a great movie, has one of my favourite endings too!
I think its the best of the Sequel Trilogy.
I agree.
DARK STAR and OCTOPUSSY were the first two movies my folks bought on VHS when I was a kid, so I have a soft spot for that film. The beach ball creature is hilarious!
For how often I heard about THAT scene over the years, I figured it'd be twisted for the sake of being twisted, but it really is fascinating how the rest of the film comes together around that moment, playing out in reverse yet leaving a lot of wonderful character moments and bits of excellent chemistry amongst the ad-libbed dialogue sequences. Having said that, that scene is obviously very tough and uncomfortable to watch. I'm just a big fan of Noe's work.
I can see that. :) I'm glad to know the film, for sure.
I agree. And that scene in the lift shaft is really suspenseful, even though its played for laughs.
Great debut from John Carpenter!
Glad you're a fan too mate. Such an imaginative little movie!
Love that scene where the crew have to ask the 'dead' Captain for advice 😄
Yes, great scene and the ending, trying to outsmart one of the talking bombs by convincing it that it doesn't exist!! And it backfires, spectacularly!
I love that scene! Carpenter can do a lot with such a small budget. I always thought the model work was quite impressive.
Oh yeah 😄
Due for a re-watch... 👍
Let's not forget that Dark Star also allowed Dan O'Bannon to write Alien.
...and, of course, how absolutely devastating and unnerving it is too (though I don't think anything will ever top A Serbian Film for me, in that regard).
Fantastic film. One of the best ever..........
What a Gal......
Agreed. WW has become my favourite film in the series. When she launches herself into No Man's Land, and the Germans start firing, I turn absolutely wild.
it's a strong film that honestly bring me back to my childhood each time I watch it. I love watching it around thanksgiving for personal reasons.

You really have to wonder what was going on with audiences in 1982 that neither The Thing nor Blade Runner did particularly well at the box office.
As far as superhero films go, I would have to agree.
As for myself, I finally got around two classics I never saw:
REBECCA (1940)
ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN (1976)
Both were very good indeed.
Although,
