As you might have known, the summer in Europe is FINALLY a real summer. From Southern to Northern Europe, from East to Western Europe......the summer is infecting all of us with good spirit. In otherwise rainy countries like Netherlands and United Kingdom the temperature is even slightly higher than where I live: Barcelona
;-).
Time for some suitable, classy, stylish music from several lounge labels and rather unknown artists that mainly work as DJ's and most of the time invite guest singers to record the tracks. Here are a few of my favourites:
From the UK:
Blue States with 'Elios Therepia':
From The Netherlands:
Kraak & Smaak ft. Janne Schra with 'Never Too Late':

Comments
Btw, Røyksopp are Norwegian, not Icelandic. :)
In the meanwhile I found this nice single from Wagon Christ. They use the track '007 And Counting' from the Diamonds Are Forever music score:

The Cafe Del Mar Suites:
Koop:
And Buddha Bar:
"Machine Says Yes" is actually a lovely album from FC Kahuna. And indeed, 'Hayling' is one of their best tracks. Pity they only made this album and actually quit already back in 2003. They were a product of their time: The 1990's was a pretty laid back and prosperous decade.
This is another great track from their 2002 album (Take notice of the lovely bits of Star Trek sounds edited in this song, called 'North Pole Transmission'):
I am curious though what you think of Napoleon...and the 18 tracks I posted above :-).
Ooowh, and to you @bondjames, Koop is wondeful. If you like them, you live this new track too. It's played 'live' entirely:
this song might be a couple years old, but i just recently discovered it... I really love Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings - they are part of this soul revival quietly going on here in the US that I am really digging.. we need more music like this in the world, and less Taylor Swift / Justin Bieber garbage..
I agree on the old Motown stuff too @haserot. Silky and funky too. It just moves along with a melodic groove. On a related note, although not lounge, this below has to be one of the definitive summer chill tracks imho:
out of my generation of music growing up in the 90s, i would say that there are a few songs that instantly transport me to summer time mode.. those being..
"Summertime" - Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff
"Walkin' On The Sun" - Smash Mouth
"Hypnotize" - Notorious B.I.G
"I Got 5 On It" - Luniz
"Return Of The Mack" - Mark Morrison
"Honey" - Mariah Carey
"Fantasy (remix with ODB)" - Mariah Carey
"Don't Leave Me Girl" - Blackstreet
"Closer To Free" - The Bodeans
"Mo Money Mo Problems" - Notorious B.I.G
"Friday" - Ice Cube
"You Know How We Do It" - Ice Cube
"Keep Their Heads Ringin'" - Dr. Dre
"Nuttin' But A G Thang" - Dr. Dre
yeah, there is a lot of rap in there - but that made up a lot of my youth musically, didn't really start expanding my musical taste until high school.
West coast rap definitely had a smooth, silky feel to it, and I'd add early Snoop Dogg to that list too. "Gin & Juice" etc. as well as "California Love" by 2Pac & "Still DRE" (all D.R.E. joints).

Also one of my favourite artists.<iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/btBSxtKzF6Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Goldfrapp are at least as important to me as Ladytron or Robyn.<iframe width="854" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/uco-2V4ytYQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I like Ladytron's the best.
