  Once every three years would be a good spacing I think. Something like the original trilogy. These are truly event films after all, which blow the top off the box office stateside. So a longer gap between releases could work better for them.

  Yeah the earlier trilogies were something that I certainly looked forward to, and something to build towards as a fan. The ongoing trilogy has clearly not been planned out particularly well, the cohesion between episodes 7 and 8 is poor and quite amateurish.

  I agree. I suppose it's fine to throw curveballs at the audience but the last two didn't hold together well as you said. It's like night and day - a nice setup and a limp follow through. I still have hope that Abrams can tie it up nicely next year, but he has his work cut out for him.

  J.J. knows how to make fast paced action and I expect him to paper over the cracks or take the trilogy where he envisioned it to go, I think the trilogy is damaged pretty badly and I have pretty much given up on the overall narrative though I have faith part 9 will be a fun blockbuster finale.

  IF JJ can get the series back on track it will be a small miracle IMHO. I did not realised I cared so much about Star Wars until I saw TLJ.
